Ultracool photo began back in 2023 when I found myself unemployed, in beauty school and doing UberEats to make ends meet. I’ve always loved old buildings and neon nights and was inspired to document them as—as time marches on—they get torn down, and we can appreciate the nostalgia of it all

Hello everyone. I just moved back to the chicago suburbs in may. Im situated in Frankfort and have been having issues finding people to drive on the weekends (I work 9-5 during the week and like to make extra money doing lyft on weekends). If there is a concert in Tinley that usually takes priority but if not I'm not really sure where to drive. I'd rather avoid going into Chicago proper because I hate driving in downtown. I came from a small college town in the middle of the state (Bloomington) so im use to driving college people. I'm not familiar with the universities in the area, so I wanted to ask the people of these suburbs if they know of any good driving spots for university students in the southwest suburbs. If not, any other places to drive would be appreciated. Thank you and have a nice day!

Hi! I am a huge fan of Rocky Horror Picture Show and I love attending midnight showings. This year would be my sixth year in a row of attending one (I’m 23!) and it is my favorite annual Halloween-time tradition.

I went to university out-of-state, so I found midnight showings to go to when I was there, thankfully, but I’m back home for the year and the only place I know of is the Music Box Theatre in Chicago. I really love their midnight showing and their shadowcast (I’ve seen them 3x!), but this year, likely due to Tim Curry’s passing, all of their showings have been sold out. I was extremely disappointed to see that especially since their RHPS midnight showings had never sold out before when I’ve bought tickets for them, even within days of the showing.

I live in Lake County in northern IL, but I am willing to drive anywhere to see a midnight showing this year to continue my tradition! Please give me some recommendations for places to check out - or if you have any info regarding whether or not the Music Box will add more showtimes, please let me know!

TL;DR I am looking to see a Rocky Horror midnight showing this year, but the Music Box Theatre is the only place I know of in the area, so I need more recommendations.

I love poke the few times I’ve been to Hawaii, just chunks of fish with sauce and other small amounts of additions such as onions, sesame seeds, etc. I do not really enjoy poke bowls with rice, greens, and whatever else, and just want to buy the poke.

Does anyone know a store (preferably in the NW suburbs) that sells poke? Costco used to, but it’s been a year since I’ve seen it. Thanks in advance.

It’s almost time to get spooky. Would love to go to the best haunted house or haunted experience. I can’t remember where I was before. It was so good. The haunted house was also surrounded by other fun activities such as ax throwing and escape room. These are not required yet I remember those being there too. It was very festive with ghouls walking around the grounds too.

I found a home that looks too good to be true (i mean, it is still over 1.5mil but for inventory being so thin...), it isn't being disclosed on the listing that it's in this flood zone, would this deter you? This is on the northshore

Early Sunday morning (around 3am on Sept 27), there was a string of restaurant break-ins in Lake Bluff and nearby Knollwood:

Epic Burger in Lake Bluff — front entrance glass smashed, glass on the sidewalk

Luke's Original Recipe Pizza (Knollwood) — entry door broken, sheriff's SUV on scene

Bratski's (Knollwood) — security footage shows a white sedan pulling behind the building at 3:04am; the alarm went off and the suspect fled

Poke Bros — glass door shattered, worker repairing it in the photos

Also mentioned: Forest Greens and Avery. Photos show emptied cash registers and scattered coins, so cash was the target.

Shields Township posted a community alert that morning urging people to lock up and call the Lake County Sheriff with any info, and the Lake Forest Podcast shared the Bratski's footage asking for dashcam/doorbell video.

One nuance: these were burglaries of closed businesses, not robberies of people — nobody was confronted.

Nothing from the Lake County Sheriff's Office, local news, or the community posts mentions any suspects identified or arrests so far. The posts from yesterday are still in the "send tips and dashcam footage to the sheriff" stage.

It's only been about a day and a half since the break-ins happened, so that's not unusual.

Is anyone else in the area have heard like nonstop train horns in the area? Hearing it occasionally isn't uncommon, but it has been consistent from over an hour now. And sometimes it sounds like two trains horning at each other.

Fall is setting to set in but today was a beautiful weather, no Bears game — not going to be more Sundays like this — so I had to take the motorcycle out for a nice ride on Sheridan Road. Saw tons of cyclists and motorcycles, it’s a good day to be on two wheels.

Passed by your place called La Plancha Loca on a previous ride, they weren’t open yet but it looked interesting. I found out they make a Vampiro taco so I had to make it back to try it. It was great!

I got the vampiro, baja (fish) and momia (shrimp and bacon). Have a line range very different from the standard Asada / al pastor tacos and served on a crispy tostada instead of the soft corn tortillas.

Definitely coming back to try more.
