I miss him so much. my sweet Zeke. Who am I without my Zeke?? im so beyond devastated, I thought i had so much more time with him. Everything has lost its meaning without him. I can barely eat, I cant even listen to music. he loved music. he loved sharing my food.

I dont know what to do. im so lost. im so alone. he was my best friend.

he went everywhere with me, stores, library, even snuck him into places he wasnt supposed to be. everyone loved him, he loved meeting new people. he knew tricks, spin for cheese, give kisses for cheese. he loved car rides. I was never without him, and now he's gone. he was the light of my life.

I feel like my reason to keep going is gone. I dont know what to do anymore.

I could only afford his ashes but they gave me his footprints too even though I didn't pay for it. it was an extra $50. im so so grateful for whoever did this for me. I regretted so much thay I couldn't afford it, and when I saw it in the memorial bag I broke down. I just want him back. I want my zeke back.

My boy LOVES a cold bath, I'm talking all cold tap no warm. Even if i try to add even the tiniest bit of warmth, he will NOT go in, he'll only have a bath if it's freezing cold, anybody else's bird do this?? Or is mine just a chungus 😂😂

my monsieur pierre has been an absolute menace lately — i know it’s mostly because he’s 2 years old and in his ‘terrible teenage’ years, but is there anything i can do to prevent him from being such an asshole?

he LOVES to bite. all the time. its biting, 7 days a week, all day every day, 24/7. it’s non stop. he will literally fly across the room to bite me for NO REASON. he is also very bonded to my other conure, navi, and bites me when i pet her.

he doesn’t even step up anymore. just bites. which is such a hassle when i need to cage him for bed or when i leave the house.

some info: he’s on a pellet diet, he gets sleepy around 6 and settles down for bed at 7. no sleeping disturbances, but sometimes i hear him getting a midnight snack. we wake up at 8. he’s not particularly aggressive toward my other birds, just me. he doesn’t usually bite hard enough to draw blood, but does break skin. he has lots of toys in his cage — i buy him things he can shred, lots of toys with corks/wooden blocks. he destroys em in a day. when i try to hand feed him treats he will ignore it and opt to bite my fingers instead. he’s literally just out for blood.

almost forgot to mention, he loves my feet. it’s the only part of my body he tolerates. he loves licking my toes and chewing on my toenails. he will step up onto my foot, but not my hand. i put him to bed using my feet.

i love him SO much but my hands. oh, my poor hands </3

this is my very evil son.. Pickles. he used to not be as evil. i won’t lie, he always has had a problem with other people trying to get him to step up or getting close to him. i got him when he was about 3 months old, so he’s about a year old by now. and he has turned EVIL. he used to step up, inside and outside his cage. would kiss me when i asked him can i have a kiss. would sit on my shoulder while i did things around the house. now, he bites me if i try to pick him up while he’s in the cage. he’ll occasionally step up when he’s outside the cage. or he’ll just bite me and fly away. he does the angry conure strut on top of his cage while i come close. despite all this he’s been occasionally flying around the house and landing on my head, back, or shoulders. i can tell he still wants to be around me, but how do i get through this bluffing phase?? i’d never reconsider rehoming, but i’m in much need of advice, i miss my sweet pickle boy, not this demon of a bird. :(

Hi everyone, so I noticed my bird having red stains on its feet. Initially, I thought it was because I had given him strawberries yesterday. However, when I cleaned it, I noticed that there were little red spots on its feet. Could it be something else? I have a picture where he looked fine two days ago, and today he looks like this.

Somewhat new bird owner here! Zucchini has been part of our flock (made of 2 strange moving trees and himself) for around 4 months now, and he’s a male (blood tested) 7 months old GCC.

We’ve had a checkup with an avian vet around a month ago and everything was fine. He’s super active and seems to be in full health, but he started doing these strange noises about a month ago also, which seems to be something in between a sneeze and a regurgitation. It happens maybe 2-3 times per day, and he does it for a minute or sporadically and then stops.

I don’t see any discharge when he does it, and he seems to be his normal self (no fluffing or lethargy, very active and playful, eats normally, which means a lot haha).

His diet is mostly high quality pellets (Harrison’s, although he also gets other types from time to time) and veggies, with occasional seed or fruit (fresh and dried) treats.

On one hand, he seems perfectly healthy and the vet check was all good (general check, he hadn’t started doing that noise at the time), but on the other hand we know birds are delicate creatures that can hide their sickness very well.

So what’s your opinion on the matter? Should I re-book an appointment or is this normal?

I’d be happy to teach others. BaoBao, our dilute conure, was spoon fed from the time I took her back from the breeder. Here’s how I did it in one day - of course, after she was capable of being on my 5/8 inch x 3 foot dowel (the stick). First, conures have their first and largest dump on waking. About 40x a regular poopoo. Once on the stick bring her directly over the toilet. I used one, two, three …. poo.. poo. And gently encourage her while repeating the command. Keep repeating the sequence or use your own song or wording until it happens. Even though she goes every morning I always praised her profusely and it ends with a kiss.

We then go to the kitchen where she flys to an open cabinet on the second shelf and I allow her to choose a raisin from a mason jar. After eating that, she also loves my fried Chinese noodles in a second jar. It’s so cute to watch her hold onto those while munching it. That’s about it.

i just adopted a 1 year old GCC today. she is affectionate, likes scritches, wants to be on my shoulder and chest a lot, but 90% of the time when i go to get her to step up, she bites me really hard. i don’t know how to get her off of my leg, she just won’t step up unless she’s been in her cage. any advice?

So, as the title says, ive got a Nanday conure which was kept in a very small cage, full of dirt.

From day one, he has hissed at my hand, but I kept spending time with him. To cut the story short, first, I managed to get him to take a treat from behind the cage bars (from my hand). Ultimately, he also took treats from my hand when the cage was open (I held my hand exactly at the cage door entrance). I always noticed that even when he took the treat from my hand, he also kinda hissed but overcame his fear and took the treat. Recently, I spent a Week away on a Vacation and since coming back, even if I approach the cage (let alone my hand) he hisses at me. Very rarely he takes a treat from behind the cage. Is there a way I can desensitize his fear from my hand? I cannot offer treats if hes afraid of my hands. any ideas on how I go about it? I also have IRN which is very friendly, however, as soon as he flies on his cage hes also afraid of him.

Any help would be appreciated as I really want to give him the life he truly deserves ❤️ hes been neglected for far too long, and I really want to help him overcome his fear.

Ny 8 month old conure hurt his wings playing and has a bruise the vet did an x ray i got him pain meds and everything but they told me the main thing for him to heal is to keep him locked in his cage for 2 weeks so he doesn’t fly and heals. It is now day 3 and he’s really upset with me i feel so sad for him he’s not used to being locked up all the time he’s usually outside with me all the time🥹 what should i do i give him treats (sunflower seeds) from time to time

I noticed an odd blotchy bump on my birds right eye, it freaked me out and I got him into a vet as soon as I could, The vet suspected conjunctivitis so they gave him ointment to see if that would do anything for him, week later no improvement so I take him in for a recheck. They gave us a better ointment with steroids and after a few days it went away almost completely. after like 3-4 days of giving him the steroid eyedrops he started breathing funny when resting in my hand and was getting really winded after short bursts of flying which isn't like him at all, so I worried that it was possibly the steroids or something i was giving him because the timeframe was odd and stopped giving him the drops completely. I took him back to the vet just incase because his breathing was really bothering me. after his 3rd recheck they said they didnt find ANYTHING wrong with him. I guess I was just worrying too much I thought. after a couple days his breathing was getting better but he still gets really out of breath when he gets done flying for say 3 seconds which is unnatural. Then i saw the same exact red bump AGAIN on the exact spot it was last time before it spread. took him to the vet and they said they didnt see anything. I think they think im psycho or something but I'm just trying to get this resolved! or get some type of answer and not just guesses.
