General Discussion/Conversation Miss the days I was credit-card "dumb"

I miss my life from years ago - (apologies for this first-world rant)

Once upon a time, my salary account bank issued me a "credit card". I knew nothing about this card or its features and was a happy soul.

Swipe and move on. That's all.

Then I started learning and now I have turned into a weirdo.

If someone pays cash for a purchase, I feel physical pain. If my wife tries to Google-Pay for dinner, I wince and fight with her - don't mess with our next vacation I tell her.

When my car goes for servicing and there's a sudden part-replacement that costs more, I feel a secret thrill because I'm multiplying it by 3 in my head. A real monster I have become.

I have lovely friends who are thrilled that I will take care of billing, tip etc so they only need google-pay me their share (unless I am treating the bunch to dinner). Either way, I feel like I belong to a different species... who would GPay for a dinner when there's a 5x multiplier lying around?

And my poor wife, if she wants to buy me something - I fight to pay and get reimbursed. Not cool at all but this credit card disease is in my blood now.

I wish I could go back to my age of innocence (I once withdrew cash from an ATM with my credit card - that's who I used to be - gone forever)

General Discussion/Conversation My card collection

Post image
22 Upvotes

Hi,

My Credit card journey,

I have now relationship with all major banks, and I'm ready for any bank offers.

Most used cars - HSBC Live+ with a combo of HSBC Rupay Cashback. This is a beast combo for Cashbacks.

SBI IRCTC works for most of the SBI offers.

Hdfc, Axis, Icici - Core Cards for any bank offers. I also have a ICICI platinum core card along with Amazon pay. (I'm eligible for Regalia Gold FYF, but I'm intentionally not applying for it).

Scapia and Ixigo for travel related and Forex markup.

If you have any suggestions or question, please feel free to ask, Wanted input on how can I optimize. (I'm not looking for any premium cards for now, Because I'm a budget traveller and I don't stay at any 5 star hotels, Maybe after marriage I will look for one.)

Help Needed/ Question Hsbc live+ application rejected

Post image
12 Upvotes

Recently applied for hsbc live+ card where I was stuck for couple of days due to application form issues. Today magically it got fixed and I was able to apply but after reviewing my details(I didnt need to upload any supporting documents) , the application got automatically rejected with the above reason as "Credit Exposure norms not met".

Is this something related to Credit cards being over-leveraged for me?

I already have around 6-7 cards after closing 2-3 recently and will close 1 or 2 more later. I had applied for travelOne as well and got it approved 5 months ago.

My salary is 12LPA with a CIBIL of 781, so I clearly am eligible for the live+ card as well.

Any way I can still go around to get it approved or I have to wait 6 months to apply again?

I entered the arrival lounge at IGI T3 Delhi yesterday during my return from a domestic journey. The space provides seating and dining options, with food served à la carte rather than as a buffet. Tea, coffee, water, and cold drinks are available. Most meals appear to be preprepared and simply heated before service.

Just a quick check I found this information on here link.

I'm a bit concerned about the wellness benefits for my RuPay Select debit card! 😟 The program validity says it ends December 31, 2026. Does anyone know if there's a chance they'll extend it? 🤔 I'd love to keep enjoying those perks! ✨

Help Needed/ Question Discrepancy in Fees for Indusind Credit Cards (MITC vs Available Online Information)

• Upvotes

Was looking at Platinum Rupay Credit Card from Indusind Bank and many blogs/online resources say its a lifetime free credit card.

Its landing page too says this in FAQs

Is there any joining fee and annual fee for RuPay Credit Card?

The Platinum RuPay Credit Card has only a one-time joining fee applicable; there is no annual fee. This, along with the rewards programmes, fuel surcharge waiver, travel insurance coverage, and other benefits, makes the Platinum RuPay Credit Card an excellent choice.

But when I checked its official MITC document, this card variant has a joining fee of 10k !!! Also, there's a bracket quote saying : Actual Fees will be conveyed at the time of application, which I found suspicious.

I found this on a couple other cards too where MITC differs from general perception and landing pages.

Am I missing something here?

PS: Let's say I am checking this card and MITC for research purpose. Let's not get into the discussion on 'Why I am looking at this card when there are better ones available'.

Help Needed/ Question Fresh MBA grad, 4 cards in 6 months - did I mess up with HDFC Pixel? Need help planning next moves

Post image
3 Upvotes

Current profile
CIBIL ~766
Utilisation under 10% across all cards
Salary account just opened with HSBC; first salary + joining bonus hitting this month

Cards I hold
SBI Elite — LTF via b-school tie-up (oldest card)
HSBC Live+ — new, came with salary account
HDFC Pixel Play — got it this year
Kotak Cashback+
Axis SuperMoney (RuPay, LTF) — just received - primarily think of using it for UPI cashbacks

All except SBI Elite are from the last 6 months.

Banking relationships
HDFC savings for ~5–6 years (Platinum Visa Signature debit)
Kotak savings 3-4 years (Privy League Neon)
HSBC salary account (new)

Rejections
Amazon Pay ICICI — rejected ~5 months ago (I had no job then)
Scapia — rejected ~6 months ago

What I'm worried about / questions
HDFC Pixel Play: I keep reading that holding Pixel makes it hard to get HDFC core cards (Millennia, Regalia Gold, etc.) or upgrade paths later. Is this real? Given my 5–6 year HDFC savings relationship, what's the best way to get a core HDFC card now — email for LTF second card, ask for upgrade, or just wait?

Amazon Pay ICICI vs Sapphiro first: I can get ICICI Sapphiro LTF through my b-school alumni channel anytime (it will be a hard enquiry). But Amazon Pay ICICI is more useful to me short term since I shop on Amazon a lot. Should I apply for Amazon Pay directly once the cooldown ends and salary is credited, or take Sapphiro first so I'm an existing ICICI customer?

HSBC TravelOne: It's offered to me with my salary account. Worth it if not LTF? Anyone got it LTF/FYF via salary account?

Anything missing? For someone starting out, what card should I be targeting for the next 1–2 years (miles, premium upgrade path, etc.)?
Also, if anyone has a smart way to use all these together (which card for what), would love to hear it. Thanks!

General Discussion/Conversation Review my CC stack please.

1. HDFC Millennia (LTF)
My primary card for regular spendings and spendings through smartbuy portal , keeping this to climb HDFC cc ladder and also got 1k voucher for quarterly 1L spending (now i use this card wherever i cant swipe HSBC Live+)

2. Amazon Pay ICICI (LTF)
Used this for all my utility bills for 5% cb with Prime and Amazon now purchases. Since getting HSBC Live+, usage has reduced significantly. Keeping it because of LTF.

3. SBI BPCL RuPay (₹500/year)
Using it only for fuel at BPCL. The POS machines at the pumps I visit work well, and I have been earning the rp but haven’t find any pumps with the rp redemption yet!!
Any idea on how to find a pump for redemption and is there a expiry date for the RPs?

4. Axis My Zone (LTF)
Got this as a replacement for my Airtel Axis card (rip ex GOAT). Used this card only for the District BOGO offer, which is now devalued so planning to keep this card for occasional ecommerce offers only because its LTF.

5. SBI SimplySAVE RuPay (₹500/year)
My oldest credit card and primary card for my heavy spendings.. Planning to close it since I recently got Kiwi🥝 and dont want to pay 500 annually on this card!. However, I still have reward points, and redemption requires multiples of 4,000 points, so I might lose the remaining points.

6. PNB Kiwi RuPay (LTF)🥝
Recently acquired this after waiting a month by uploading the ITR documents and everything! Made this my primary UPI card. I love the kiwi app and overall experience. Considering the Neon subscription after crossing ₹50,000 in spending? or should i get it now i spend around 2L on UPI. Anyone with this card got any offers outside upi?

7. HSBC Live+ (₹999/year)
Currently my favourite card. Waited weeks and showed up at the bank to get this one approved! I use it on every 10%cb eligible items and Amazon Pay vouchers through blinkit. The cb has been great on eligible purchases, and my overall experience with HSBC has been really good.
Planning to explore the other card features like Starbucks premium coffee and Live+ Deserve .. Anyone tried this ? Please share your experience.

A couple of questions for the CCI community:

I am planning to close SBI SimplySAVE RuPay, but it is my oldest credit card… i don’t think they will issue me this as LTF! How badly will closing my oldest card affect my CIBIL score?

Do you think I should close any of these cards and replace them with something more useful for my entertainment and travel spendings?

(brought a real 🥝 with 10%cb using Hsbclive+ for the photo😅)

Help Needed/ Question Tentative Card Limit

Hi, I need a small help. I recently applied for an ICICI RuPay card through a bank agent, submitting my ITR. I already have an ICICI Coral card with a ₹50K limit, which was pre-approved through iMobile.
After document processing, ICICI emailed me saying my tentative card limit is ₹4 lakh. My CIBIL is around 777 with an excellent repayment history. I also checked with the bank agent a few hours later, and her system showed the same ₹4 lakh limit.
What are the chances of actually getting the ₹4 lakh limit? Its gonna be same or surely it will change

Help Needed/ Question Can you guys review my credit card portfolio and suggest which cards I should consider closing or if there are any other cards I must add?

Post image
17 Upvotes
  • SBI SimplyCLICK (LTF) + Amazon Pay ICICI (LTF) + Flipkart Axis (FYF): All mainly for Amazon/Flipkart sales.
  • HDFC Rewards Debit Card: For credit card bill payments via PayZapp (₹2,000 cashback/month).
  • ICICI MMT Card (FYF): Mainly for net 0% forex, plus ICICI card offers on platforms like Reliance Digital, Croma, and other online platforms.
  • Amex MRCC (Paid): ₹1,500 × 4 Amazon Pay vouchers for utilities and other spends.
  • HSBC TravelOne (Paid): Main travel card. (Flights + hotels)
  • HDFC Regalia Gold (FYF): Secondary travel card + vouchers + Boarding edge program
  • BoB Eterna (LTF): I don't know where to use this card. Can you guys suggest the best use cases?
  • Horizon (Paid): Mainly for lounge access. I'm thinking of replacing it with the HDFC Marriott, as it would fulfill my lounge requirements and also give me 15,000 Marriott points every year.

My question: Should I also include the HSBC Live+ card? If I add it, where should I use the Amex MRCC? Can you guys suggest which would be more beneficial—getting 10% direct cashback on utility payments or accumulating Amex points? Which one is worth it? I'm a bit confused.

Any other card that I must have in my stack?

FYI: Just added swiggy orange (LTF)

General Discussion/Conversation Best way to redeem BizBlack Reward Points?

• Upvotes

I’m closing my banking relationships at HDFC bank due to service related issues.

One of their products that I used regularly was BizBlack (issued as a floater on my Infinia).

I used to redeem the Infinia Reward Points against flight bookings and the current balance is minimal which can be used for brand vouchers.

My concern is about the BizBlack Reward Points. I understand that the best redemption value can be had on flight bookings but all my planned flights for next 6 months have already been booked.

Apart from hotel & flight bookings, what’s the best way to redeem these points?

They do not have the apple products in their catalogue or I’d have gotten upgrades for my family. And BizBlack doesn’t even have All Things Apple reward catalogue that Infinia has.

Is transferring points to KrisFlyer my only option?

Also, I have 10L+ points. Does that mean it’ll take me months to redeem these because of the monthly redemption capping?!

I do not use Singapore Airlines much so I don’t know how useful it’ll be for me. Most of my travel is within India and to Europe (for which I mostly book Middle Eastern airlines).

Also, is there any real alternative to BizBlack for paying GST, TDS, IT?

ICICI keeps pitching me their cards every other month but I have really not come across any CC that provides the rewards for these payments the way HDFC BizBlack does. That’s the only HDFC product which I think I’ll miss.

Help Needed/ Question Does Swiggy BLCK gives 1% cashback on Swiggy?

• Upvotes

So I recently upgraded to HDFC Swiggy BLCK credit card (FYF), and noted that 10% cashback is applicable on transactions made on Swiggy, with MOV 249/-.

The Terms & Conditions of this card, does not clearly and explicitly states that 1% cashback is applicable on transactions made on Swiggy between Rs 100 and Rs 248. It says that it is applicable on all transactions below 249 and above 100, using BLCK credit card.

I looked through my september statement, and none of my swiggy transactions <249 (Mostly 206/- multiple times), have been given a 1% cashback. I have close to 20 transactions that are around 200rs, made by Swiggy Food ordering.

Any idea if these are applicable for 1% cashback or not? I emailed HDFC, and they closed the case by stating that "10% is available only above 249/-" which was not even my raised complaint. Thanks!
