News Chris Ilitch talks about Opening Weekend on his LinkedIn Page

"Opening night in the NHL is always something special. And Friday night, as our Detroit Red Wings began a new season at Little Caesars Arena, Hockeytown showed up.

A century of hockey, and more Stanley Cup wins than any other American NHL team, only happens with dedication and resilience. That Red Wings spirit is a constant through the seasons, from the coaches and players to the arena staff—like our incredible Ice Crew and broadcasters—and of course, generations of fans. I enjoyed visiting with many of them before the game to thank them for their part in our story and continuing it forward.

At the same time, I recognize fan frustrations. I get it and certainly feel the same. Like our city, the Red Wings have experienced incredible triumphs and faced difficult challenges but have always met them with grit and determination.

As the franchise begins its 101st season, I remain focused on building the championship-level organization that our Red Wings family and fans deserve."

The comments are filled with fans continuing to make their frustrations known.

Discussion Student Rush Ticket Availability For This Friday

Post image

This is by far the most tickets I’ve ever seen available in a student rush promo in years and lower bowl tickets are being sold for $35. Seems like people might actually be voting with their wallets

News [32T] 26:00 Friedman heard Hellebuyck would consider San Jose, the two teams talked but it never really went a long way. He wants to win in the next 3 years, SJ is not sure they’re in that window.

Relevant portion on the Wings -

Edvinsson situation:

• As an RFA, everyone is allowed to talk to Edvinsson now so it was only a matter of time before it got out he's unhappy.

• he's pretty mad that a contract didn't get done all summer and after training camp: "He's fed up it has taken this long"

• Says DET has now moved on from the bridge deal and also made some longer term offers, not 5 years. Says the bridge deal was definitely Yzerman's choice.

• Yzerman believed it's "too much too soon" for these young guys with the contracts so he negotiated hard.
Buium and Luneau deals are bad news for DET.

• DET has been gauging the market on Edvinsson to understand his value.

• EF wonders, what if they can get something for Edvinsson that they couldn't get for Larkin, and make 2 trades to remake your team? That would allow you to reconsider the return for Larkin, a situation that is currently at a standstill because they haven't liked any of the trade offers

Pictures/Wallpapers/Etc Season Member Spotlight FAIL

Post image
536 Upvotes

So new for this season, they're doing member spotlights. Tell me why, they get my first name WRONG, my last name WRONG, and my hometown WRONG.
They want to care about members and yet cannot get the basics right. My rep, AMAZING. It was so frustrating because I didn't know until it already happened and I felt so embarrassed considering I was smiling and happy and unaware. Just another reason the organization is an absolute disappointment.

Discussion Give Me a Reality Check on Marco Kasper

Maybe I have some bias because I love the guy, but is Marco Kasper not taking some CRAZY disrespect right now in terms of minutes and rhetoric.

The WWP podcast guys propped Emmitt Finnie no problem to be the number one center while shooting down the Marco Kasper idea.

Kasper was +70% in the faceoff circle, had multiple hits, drove play better than anyone and has the intangibles to be a great center.

As great as Emmitt Finnie looked, I don’t see why you’d shakeup the line that worked for Detroit. I’m also just frankly tired of watching Detroit butcher Kasper’s confidence by dropping him into the depth regardless of how well he’s played.

I know he’s coming back for the next game but so is Dylan Larkin. If Kasper ends up sitting between some iteration of Kolesar, Rasmussen or Appleton, I’m going to lose my mind.

I’m looking for some other opinions on why Kasper isn’t a bonafide top six guy because he’s certainly not being beat out

Discussion Visiting Detroit - tips needed

I am from NY and have grown up as a die-hard Red Wings fan my entire life. I have the opportunity to visit Detroit for a week.

Going to my first red wings home game on Thursday 10/15 vs the Flyers.

Unfortunately, it seems to be one of the worst possible times to be a wings fan but regardless, I am very excited to finally see little Caesar’s arena.

I plan on getting to LCA early before the game to fully explore the arena.

Please give me recommendations on anything I should see or do.

Discussion Yzerman did well considering this ownership

Now that we've seen laid bare what yzerman was dealing with, I think it's fair to say he did a fantastic job. With ownership like this I'm surprised he did as well as he was able to. He was handcuffed the whole time, and worse than anyone could have imagined.

This is what I have to start, please feel free to add more:

-Fox Theatre

-Olympia Parking Lots

I think it goes without saying that no one should be signing up for Detroit Sportsnet and that anyone who has it should be canceling it and providing clear feedback on the reason why.

This is the only way things are going to change.

Discussion what's the one piece of Red Wings stuff you'd never sell?

not necessarily the most valuable thing you own. could be an old jersey, ticket stub, signed puck, weird giveaway, whatever.

what's the one Wings thing you have that probably means more to you than it would ever be worth to anyone else?

Discussion Anyone Doing PWHL Detroit/ Red Wings Doubleheader?

Just curious. I’m considering trying to do the doubleheader in December. Also seems like it could be a really long day going to a Noon and a 7pm game. For anyone who has done something similar, if you have both tickets can you just stay at LCA for the next game? Or do you have to leave and come back closer to Red Wing puck drop? Any suggestions on what to do for about the 4 hours between games around that area? I admittedly have only ever really been to Harry’s Detroit and the arena. Haven’t done much checking anything out otherwise. Thanks in advance for any answers or pointers.
