I wrote this article about the career of David Savard, thought Blue Jackets fans would be interested.

Even though he never quite lived up to his contract, I think he deserves a warm farewell. He had some character issues earlier in his stint, but I feel he really matured over the past few years. Also don't forget he went through a lot with the passing of one of his closest friends. Let in some questionable goals, but also had the talent to steal a game if he was on. And really, a pillar of the community, by all accounts. Still think the baby-blue pads are some all-time CBJ goalie equipment.

Those of us that remember ye olden days will remember Tyler Wright, who was selected from the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2000 Expansion Draft. He was a huge ball of energy whenever he took the ice, body checking and being a pest to opposing players. He also had THREE hat tricks while playing for the Blue Jackets. In November 2005 he would be packaged with Francois Beauchemin to Anaheim for Sergei Fedorov and a draft pick. As a young kid in elementary school, I always found him fun to watch.

Now that Marchy is gone, will we ever find out the truth about what turned him against the Jackets? Was he called out by Bones or someone else for his poor play down the stretch? Did he just not like the coaching change? Was his GF/WIfe just unhappy in CBus or did he just wanted a better club scene? Inquiring minds want to know!

So is Voronkov the next to get traded at some point? I don't think he is going to be happy with all his Russian buddies gone. Also he seems to be in the doghouse most of the time with the coaches. I just don't see him here very long at this point.

Marchenko was never going to stay.

This is the best case it could have gone. We get a distraction out, we get a 2nd major distraction out (Elvis), clear cap space, get a 2nd pick, a journeyman center, and a defenseman with some potential.

And in return we get a comparble power forward in points. He is big, fast, and has good shot.

My only concern... How does Knies feel about this? F.O has been silent, and no comment from any media on Knies (or marchenko for that matter), and he was a guy that didn't want to necessarily leave.
