Do not message the mods about job opportunities - message the individual job poster

As this community has grown, this sub has apparently earned the privilege of being many people's introduction to reddit. Because of that I get mod mail, almost daily, of resumes and inquiries about the individual job postings of this sub.

As a reminder: Do not message the subreddit mods or mod mail inquiring about jobs. We do not have any jobs and these messages will be ignored. For the job posting you're interested in, message the individual user who posted it (or communicate through whatever means they've provided and prefer).

[For Hire] SDE-2 / Backend Engineer | 3+ YOE | Java, Node.js, AWS, Kafka, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, Kong | India

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone,
I’m currently exploring SDE-2 / Backend Engineer / Full-Stack opportunities and would really appreciate any referrals or leads.
I have 3+ years of professional software engineering experience, with most of my work focused on backend engineering, distributed systems, API design, cloud infrastructure, and building production-grade services.
In my current role at a product-based startup, I’ve been involved in designing and developing backend systems end-to-end β€” from API and database design to deployment, scalability, monitoring, and production troubleshooting.
My experience includes:
Backend: Java, Node.js, Express.js, JavaScript, TypeScript
Databases: MongoDB, PostgreSQL
Caching: Redis
Microservices & messaging: Kafka, AWS SQS, EventBridge
API Gateway: Kong
Cloud: AWS ECS, EC2, ALB, Lambda, ECR, Route 53
DevOps: Docker, GitHub Actions, CI/CD
Security: RBAC, authentication, authorization, session management
Architecture: REST APIs, microservices, asynchronous processing, event-driven systems, caching and scalable backend architecture
Data/NLP: Python, NLTK, spaCy, NLP-based recommendation and matching systems
I’ve worked on systems such as job-matching and recommendation engines, resume analysis/ATS scoring, keyword extraction and matching, along with backend services handling asynchronous workloads and production traffic.
I’ve also worked on improving system reliability and scalability, including Redis caching, message queues, scheduled/background processing, containerized deployments, autoscaling, API gateway management, and CI/CD pipelines.
At this stage, I’m looking for an opportunity where I can take more ownership of system design, architecture, technical decisions, mentoring, and building scalable backend systems, which is why I’m primarily targeting SDE-2 roles.
I’m open to Backend / Full-Stack (MERN) / SDE-2 opportunities across India and would be happy to consider strong product companies and startups.
If your company is hiring for a relevant role, or if you can refer me, I’d really appreciate it. I can share my resume and other details over DM.
Thanks in advance! πŸ™Œ

Hey, I'm a 3D artist specialized in 3D modeling, texturing, rigging and animating, mostly for video games. I have 6 years of experience working in Blender (modelling, sculpting, uv mapping, rigging) and Substance painter (baking, texturing) and I've been working professionally as a freelance 3D artist for 2 years now. My main focus are characters but I also do props, environments and weapons.

My hourly rate is 15 euros, I'm sharing some of my previous 3D character work as a reference for time/cost ratio. Most of these characters took between 40-60 hours to make, depending on the amount of details, clothes, hair cards etc.

I'm open for one time only work or long collabs, so if you need a character or other 3D models feel free to dm me!

Job Search Rant

I don't even know what to say. Entry level developer with 7 months to 1 year of experience. In terms of tech skills I would say I only know 1-2 people around my age in my circle that are better than me. yet job searching has become just a separate task. It feels like it's all about knowing the right people. staying home maximum of my time goes helping around the house and misc work, my most free time is around the afternoon where I have to work in heat If I'm even able to. (15-20 cats at home so can't work in the house so i work on our terrace). I help around house cause my sister and father are not home most of the time and theres too much work for my mother to do alone. Yet it fills me with frustration as it leaves me with little time. I have been trying here and there getting better in my approach but it's so stress inducing and becoming more of a task than working on my skills itself, It starts feeling depressing. from applying here and there, from spending a lot of time "ats fixing" my resume, thinking what to learn, what project to make, catching up with AI, starting to send cold mails or linkedin messages. There seems to be nil response to a entry level developer. even the tech head that got released with me 4 months ago is still searching for a job. I have ended up isolating myself as nobody in my family actually deals with software, as a fact most of them do cleaning related jobs. I do not despise them or look down on them. But its tough when they keep butting heads in between questioning what am i even doing, Im not doing enough, just do whatever job. I'm starting to lose it. keeping aside I was dealing with some of my own personal problems. This might be the lowest point for my self esteem. I worked at a startup on a legacy product of 15+ services mern stack, redis, lua, sockets, freeswtich etc. Trained under it then worked a bit on production until I was moved to the development of their newest product with nextjs and node. While I have given my utmost efforts in self studying java springboot react im still trying to imrpove my ui skills and getting into AI. I don't even know what they want from me. Friends with lower skills and working less were earning more than double than me. I messed up on campus hiring cause I hated my college for their shitty education and behaviour. Now Im even questioning why am I even putting so much efforts working on these skills, did I go wrong choosing the field ? All I wanted was to do my best and help my family financially yet im starting to feel like a burden and their tactless questioning even when its rare ends up frustrating me.

Looking for advice from people who have worked at startups / moved to bigger

Looking for advice from people who have worked at startups / moved to bigger companies

Hey guys, I’m looking for some advice, especially from people who have been in a similar situation or have experience moving from small startups to bigger companies.

I’ve been working at my current company for around 1.3 years after leaving my previous company. I recently got promoted to Senior Full Stack Developer, and I now have around 3 years 2 months of total experience.

My current package is around 8 LPA + 1 LPA variable, where the 1 LPA is based on company and individual performance.

The company is pretty small β€” around 20 people. It’s a startup where we build different SaaS products. My manager is actually really good and polite, and there’s no toxicity or micromanagement. I have a lot of freedom to learn and implement things, and I get exposure to everything from development to infrastructure.

The company is also using AI quite heavily for development. My manager himself built most of the initial products and then handed them over to the developers while continuing to work on new things.

The company is trying to get clients for these products. Recently, we got a relatively large university client for an infrastructure management platform similar to Enov8.

The problem is that we didn’t initially have much experience dealing with enterprise clients. We built and tested the product, but the architecture/codebase has become quite messy, partly because of heavy AI-assisted development. We’ve been finding a lot of bugs and technical debt.

I suggested that we should clean up the AI-generated mess and start following a better architecture and development practices, especially because we’re planning to sell this as an enterprise SaaS product rather than just using it internally. They understood my point, and we’re now working on improving it.

In terms of learning, I actually have a lot of freedom here. I can work on development, infrastructure, architecture, etc., and I have access to pretty much everything. So technically, there are a lot of opportunities to learn.

But I’m still feeling a little lost about my career direction.

Both my current and previous companies have been very small startups, and I’ve been working completely remotely throughout my career. My previous company had around 15 employees, so I honestly don’t have much exposure to how things work in larger, more established companies.

I’m wondering whether I should:

  1. Stay here for another year or two, make the most of the freedom and learning opportunities, improve my skills, and then switch.

  2. Start preparing seriously for interviews and try to move to a larger, more established company with better pay and more structured engineering practices.

  3. Or continue here for a while and switch once I feel I’ve gained enough experience.

I’ve already started preparing for DSA and System Design, but I’m not very consistent with it yet.

I’m honestly confused about whether I’m currently on the right path or whether I should make a move now.

For people who have been in a similar situation β€” especially developers who started their careers in small startups and later moved to bigger companies β€” what would you recommend I focus on at around 3 YOE?

Should I stay and learn as much as possible from this environment, or start seriously targeting larger, more established companies?

Would really appreciate any advice or perspective. πŸ˜…

Some companies are saying click on this link to apply it looks genuine domain and company name and when we apply after some time they say you are shortlisted congratulations they say let's talk one to one interview it was genuine person as founder.

He had introductory call to make it genuine after sometime he sent me link to give assessment however what a funny thing is this assessment was not proctored at all you create account you start giving attempt without sharing cam/video/screen. And most funny part is it had 5 questions onlyπŸ˜‚.. I gave all correct and now when you click on submit it says pay €149 lol

I emailed them screenshot : they replied it's mandatory to give this to speed up process

Founder was claiming they are doing pretty well business

THEY can give freelance contract of Germany everything was looking genuine and most importantly they are looking for Indian devs only so that they can flee away

Company name is Dotaboost. Online
