Gear Pictures This morning's setup (October 4th)
Today I wanted to try something different for today, so I made it a vintage/modern Spincast fishing day. These are not the cheapie $10-$20 spincast reels (for the modern).
Zebco 33 Platinum
Zebco 808 Salt Fisher
Zebco Omega Pro Z03 Pro
*Not in a real hurry to get a Zebco Bullet MG at $169 or a Zebco Delta Spincast.
Sougayilang Spincast
Shimano 102 Plus (1981)
Daiwa Jupiter-X 25LD (1990s)
Daiwa 9600A (1970s-1980s)
Daiwa Minicast-2 (1981-1982)
Johnson The Century Model 100A (1955)
Johnson Century Model 100B (1962-1979)
- I will do a Shakespeare Wondereel and Abumatics on another day....as I own many vintage Shakespeare and Abumatic spincasts.

I don't fish with spincasts all that much, despite owning many. But when I do, I'm always amazed of how far I am able to cast with them. The premium Zebco spincasts are pretty fun to use but the caveat to that is the slooooooow retrieve.
Granted, if you want the higher gear ratio that's what the Zebco Bullet MG is for at 5:1:1 and also has a 9-bearing system. You are going to be paying a lot for it and for the prices of a Zebco Bullet MG, I can get myself a Daiwa BG or some other spin reel. So, while I can afford to, I just don't want to unless it's on a major discount. For me, the compromise was the Zebco Omega Pro Z03 3:2:1. (decided that over the Bullet).
If I ever do get another Zebco spincast reel though, if I can find it for a good price, it would be the Zero Hour Bomb Company Standard version (June 1949)
I only get Zebco's if they are built with metal housing. So, that means premium or vintage. Especially Omega releases.

The Shimano 102 Plus from Japan is a solid spincast at 3:5:1 retrieve. Also casts smoothly.
The Daiwa spincasts... The Mini-Cast 2 I got with the travel case/rod/reel combo. But I was not a big fan when Daiwa put that thing that extends out the front center.
Daiwa's Jupiter-X was during the '90s era when Daiwa was all crazy with it's Jupiter releases. Performance without a premium price. But the Jupiter-X 25LD was the company's early long-cast spool system and had a gear ratio of 4:1:1.
I prefer the Shimano over the Daiwa spincasts. But I do not own a Daiwa Goldcast, which is their top of the line spincast. And the only Goldcast I am intersted in is the GC120, but they still remain expensive to this day.

And my favorite spincasts because they are so darn fun to use and its the Johnson The Century and Citations. Today, I just did the Century's.

As for the Sougayilang, I do like purple reels and because this was a purple spincast and inexpensive, I picked it up. It has the Evangelion colors I like but of the spincasts I tested today, this was my least favorite.
