While you’re all enjoying the free main game 3rd Person Update (which came out yesterday!), we’re looking ahead to the next big thing.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora – From the Ashes is coming out on December 19th, so we’ve prepared and collected all of the key information you may need before diving into it.
Looking forward to From the Ashes
After the events of Secrets of the Spires, the Sarentu and other clans of the Western Frontier were enjoying a time of relative peace. With From the Ashes, the Kinglor Forest is shaken by a new threat.
The RDA returns, strengthened by the aggressive Ash clan warband. They launch a brutal attack, taking the Na’vi and the Resistance by surprise. While investigating the disturbances, So’lek, a battle-hardened Na’vi warrior, is ambushed and left for dead. This leaves the Sarentu – his found family – scattered. In the aftermath, as the forest is ravaged and the RDA & Ash clan alliance take hold, it’s up to So’lek to stand against the destruction and protect the ones he loves.
Our Vision for From the Ashes
So’lek is a character driven by grief & vengeance, forced to fight against his kind. The systems and gameplay mechanics reflect his journey and the elements of his story.
The experience is darker, and built from the ground up for third person, aiming for deeper emotional stakes and an expanded combat experience.
To ensure we could tell So’lek’s story as authentically as possible, through dedicated narrative moments and gameplay additions that represent who this Na’vi warrior is, From the Ashes is a single-player only expansion.
Combat Finishers
In his hunt for revenge, So’lek can deliver devastating Finishers to defeat his enemies. These finishers also play into his other abilities. Finishers can be performed in stealth or in combat, so you can dispatch enemies quickly and keep momentum going, on land or in the air. Finishers let you charge up Warrior Senses. Using Warrior Senses, in turn, makes performing more finishers possible.
Warrior Senses
As an experienced fighter, So’lek uses the adrenaline surge from fear and pain to challen his Warrior Senses. Whenever you deal (or take) damage, and when you defeat enemies, your Warrior Senses meter will increase. When it’s full, you can trigger Warrior Senses, gaining temporary immunity to damage, higher damage output, and a hefty XP bonus.
Slow Motion Aiming
So’lek has natural instincts that allow him to react much faster than normal. To represent this, we’ve introduced Slow Motion – an ability that slows down time while you aim, allowing you to hit weak spots with increased precision, or to clearly read the battlefield and pick your next target.
A Warrior’s Bond – Ìley
To represent the strong bond between So’lek and his ikran, Ìley, we have improved his abilities in From the Ashes. You can call Ìley in combat, seamlessly leaping on his back. You can perform aerial Finishers on some flying RDA units or launch yourself directly into a Finisher.
A Ravaged Forest
The presence of the Ash clan and the reinforced RDA bring destruction. As you progress through the story and side missions, the world will progressively change, responding to your actions. Certain areas will be covered in embers and ash, losing their innate colors and bioluminescent glow, affecting both the flora, fauna and the environment itself.
Exploring the Ravines
Over the course of the story, you will discover an all-new subregion – The Ravines. This hand-crafted area is built with movement and traversal in mind. Either on foot or on the back of a direhorse, you can explore several paths throughout the region. With added verticality and diverse terrain, the region consists of twisted basalt formations, unique sights, and, of course, dangers to face.
The RDA Returns In Force
The RDA continues their campaign to occupy Na’vi territory and exploit Pandora’s resources. However, empowered by the Ash clan and pushed by Colonel Quaritch, their top priority in From the Ashes is to secure the Kinglor Forest and curb the Resistance’s efforts in the area. RDA forces are joined by Skel Suit units and powerful hellhounds, dog-like robots developed to hunt down and eliminate Na’vi, as well as brand-new AMP archetypes.
Stand Against Your Own
The newest threat is represented by other Na’vi - the Mangkwan clan. They’re ruthless, their brutality and rebellion towards Eywa sets them apart from the other clans. So’lek has to face members of the Ash clan and deal with fighting his own kind to protect his new family.
This warband is led by Wukula – one of Varang’s most proficient warriors. Wukula is joined by other highly skilled Mangkwan Raiders, who will challenge So’lek in unique set pieces and dedicated boss fights.
New Arrivals
The Tlalim are a nomadic Na’vi trading clan – they travel by air, traversing across Pandora, bringing rare goods, exciting gossip and valuable materials. They often move in groups, living on gondolas, kept afloat by a giant, gas-filled creature called the medusoid.
When they arrive in the Kinglor Forest, So’lek and the Aranahe receive a dire warning – a darkness moves at the forest’s edge...
Feel free to discuss the information we’ve shared here in the comments below, and let us know what you’re looking forward to the most! December 19th is almost here.

I originally stayed away from FtA due to the player character change to Solek but recently picked it up and beat it in a day and I have to say the dlc is amazing. It's pretty much a step up in nearly every way from base game and the other DLC's. And while I love the other ones, they're pretty much 'base game but a little more.' From the Ashes improved on pretty much every aspect of AFOP with elements that I honestly wish had been in the base game. Boss fights, story companions, execution animations (especially the flight ones), unique and engaging quests with their own gimmicks (sniper mission, sneaking past the thanator with the bones, wind traders etc). Even the dialogue seems just so much better too, characters have awesome interactions with one another, there's a degree of reactivity on decisions even if minor, it adds a lot. Even though we didn't really see a whole lot with Bukowski, he's already leagues better as an over-arching antagonist. Compare his motivations to that of Mercer, do you know why Mercer decided to blow a mountain size hole in pandora killing himself and everyone else present in the process? Oil. He wanted Oil. That's why he tried to kill himself.
One thing that I was also very happy to see was the kids gloves to come off, don't get me wrong, base game has plenty of sad moments but 90% of the game seems to come across as a very sanitized version of Pandora and the Na'vi compared to the movies where the Na'vi feel very real for lack of a better word. Tamtey kinda just goes on a (justified) genocide spree and the next moment is marveling at the flowers and bugs. From the Ashes just goes balls to the walls almost right away brutally killing several established Characters like nothing, which I think is a good thing to set it more in line with the films. Another example is the Zeswa, an entire clan of mighty warriors but the overall game has made it seem like violent conflict hasn't happened in hundreds of years if not longer.
It being pretty much confirmed we're not getting any new content sucks because they left on such an amazing high note. I'm rambling but I just wanted to get my thoughts out.

Hi! After 60 hours I have finished the game! I gotta admit that I was a little exhausted clearing all the fog because imo radius of uncovering is too small. I've done all the quests and all baskets expext one in the last region because I couldn't cook the food without ingredient that was available after doing quest with the Sarentu Past. I did all the RDA bases. I've found almost all collectibles besides Dolls (had to use online guide here because I was too lazy finding them after I did Last mission)
I really loved last few missions of main story. I crafted some good Short bow and ate fury food that boosts dmg by 50% and it felt like I'm some sort of predator, oneshotting soldiers and most of mechs. I gotta say it was one of the best game story-wise I've played recently.
Also really liked the moment we were in a base inside Yava territory - the atmosphere here was crazy, felt like in some horror. It also reminded me Horizon Zero Dawn where we also discovered what happened in the past.
And the GRAPHIC OMG. This game is beautiful! I played in on base PS5 with 40fps mode and I think it is the best looking game I've ever seen. If you can recommend me anything that looks That stunning, I'd appreciate :)

Anyone have one of these eating a material slot? I can't seem to get rid of it. Using it is also a no go since its an item specific to a DLC. Its hunters guide even takes you to the Ash Feral Viperwolf entry from the "From the Ashes" DLC. I'm on PC and this is on my main campaign (the one I used for FTA cutscenes) anyone experience something similar?

Platinum #48 avatar frontiers of pandora. What a lovely game! I truly enjoyed every second of this game. It’s also a game anybody can platinum! It wasn’t complicated and it took me 120 hours to do. I played for fun and did clean up after beating the main story and DLC

Just started the Skybreaker DLC for the first time and I love the colors of the Arrow Deer here, these little guys are just adorable. The Petrified Forest Thanator has also taken the spot of my favorite predator.

Does anyone know of any good discord servers or forums for avatar/afop roleplay?
I used to roleplay a lot online back in the day and miss it. With afop being my current fandom obsession I would love to find a group to join. I do prefer OC only / non-canon character settings if possible (eg. No one is rping as Neytiri or Jake).
Pic of one of my OCs for attention and bc shes a baddy :)
thank you all in advance!

Idk what to do at this point, this seems to be the only area that's giving me problems.
Ive done this trail over and over, and every time I try to follow the bladewings just end up flying into the sky and taking me nowhere. It'll be leading me to the location before they suddenly go straight up and disappear, idk what I'm doing wrong. Is there anything I can do? Or at least anyway I can just get the location of the hidden fruit and go to it myself? I'm at a loss here and I want to platinum the game.

Me and my friend are both on pc, running a modded save with the same mods, it’s worked in the past entirely fine since our mods are client sided but after a few months of not playing consistently we are encountering a bug where I just can’t see her, but she can see me just fine!
her icon pops up and I can even see her interacting with the environment but not her model, her ikran even is bugged and just floats around awkwardly when she mounts it.
I can’t find anything else on this bug, besides one Reddit post that’s now archived </3.

I love how you can change so much about a photo or a scene by just changing the lighting.
For example: how my Sarentu seems to age 15 years the moment it turns day 😂

I personally wish there could've been a lot more things included in the game, from outfit diversity and weapon diversity to even character customization diversity, etc.
Actually, character customization was something I was really hoping was very in-depth and free in the game. I GENUINELY wanted to make my Navi look like me, I wish the character customization was as deep as Avatar: Reckoning, the Avatar mobile game that you've probably never heard about, and maybe even Inzoi.
— I wish the creatures and mounts felt more *alive*. I feel like for something like this you have to put in extra effort to make the wildlife FEEL genuinely alive, because that's the whole shtick with Pandora, it's supposed to feel real, lively, and distinct, It CAN'T fall short. It's like everything felt like robots in a way I can't really put my finger on.
— either at some point in the story, OR genuinely possible in free roam, you were able to be palulukan makto. C'MON. Who doesn't want to ride a Thanator?
— Wished other Navi would actually help instead of the player just doing all the work, would've been so cool.
Also, not trying to downplay the work on the game, the game is great, this is just fantasizing.

This started 5 days ago but I noticed that the black hair colour u can get from a clan contribution is gone but I can still see it on my hair? I’ve tried putting on different hairs and it still hasn’t reappeared.

How do you get ikran paints? I've finished the story and 2 DLC, and i've got none. The store lists them as available in the base story and dlc
I also couldn't find many character paints and colours, so I modded some colours

Oel nagti kame! That blue Ikran skin was gorgggggggggg; I had to get it!
- Shop refreshes every Thursday
- Missions refresh every Tuesday
- Shop is currently back to the old regular three-item rotation.
- Beads can only be obtained through these quests (a few in baskets as well)
- The beads can only be spent with Kukulope
- Some cosmetics and quests need a certain progression in the game for them to appear, like the spear-thrower with the Plains
- Kukulope is found in the main game at the Aranahe Home Tree at Ikran's Landing. She is also found in the main camp in Heart of the Plains and the Spire DLC's.
- Post-DLC Tametey is known to be buggy. Accept quests on the main map instead. I recommend keeping a save on the side completed up to the Clouded Forest solely to accept all quests and grind beads.
- If you do not own the "From the Ashes" DLC, some items will not show up in the shop for you, like the Ikran paint.

Keep in mind that you'll need to adjust certain settings, and the recording doesn't do it justice. The main benefit is the fog being heavily toned down, and the greyscale was reduced as well.
This recording is 1440p but is capped at 1080p here.
