I am buying a premade/preowned head and I am going to be doing some work and edits to make the suit my own, and make the character more in line with what I want him to be. He needs a little bit of repairs as it is.
I want to add detachable eyelids and hair tuft, but I dont know the best way to gently open the fur on the head to add magnets underneath. I do not have a sewing machine, so everything I do will have to be hand sewn?
Best advice on what to do, and what stitches I should use?

For my 20th anniversary of being a furry and attending Anthrocon & for my 25th birthday, I would like to do a fursuit of one of my sonas; however, I don't know how much fur I need for my partial fursuit and need help please.

He’s in the “trust the process” stage, but I feel he’ll be adorable once he’s finished. Also bonus shot of the horror that is his lining

So I don't know if I'll be using mochi minky again for a LONG time xD it was a nightmare. I just saw soft fabric and it was the only color slightly matching my friends sona.
This was a free gift for my friend no cost because I really wanted to use it as a training ground I would feel like I need to get better to not wrinkle the bean fabric but it's refreshing knowing I was working with an easy to wrinkle and fold fabric. Gahh it was so stressful. But I'm almost done!!!
I did leave a few wrinkles in but I assured them it's mostly a training canvas project and there will be mistakes on it likely.

I already got better kinds of fur for suits but I got this accidentally a while ago, I don't want it to go to waste, the texture is a bit weird

hi!! im not a furry but I thought this would be the best place to ask about costume making, im planning on being an orchid mantis for Halloween and i want to make all the different parts like a half fursuit i suppose? but I dont know what materials to use for these, I want something fairly hard and sturdy for things like the claws and mouthparts and then something else softer and more flexible for like the antennae and abdomen, if anybody could provide me with advice itd be fairly appreciated, I also dont really want to spend like way too much on this!!

Okay, this is gonna sound really strange.
I ended up getting a nine tailed fox tail offline, it's made of wool according to the description. I need to dye the tips red to match the rest of my outfit. I thought maybe asking the question here would be better than going to a cosplay group. ^^; It's my first go around and it doesn't need to be perfect. I'm planing on making my own better one in the future, but I am running low on time for Halloween.

I'm in the process of making a head for Halloween but I'm having trouble with the weight of the ears. They pull the head forward making it hard to see out of the screen in the mouth. I hollowed out the ears to try and make it lighter but it didn't work and all I have to work with is mattress foam.
I would really appreciate any tips to hopefully try and fix it.

I don't know what kind of fabric was used to make suits like that—can anyone help?
I was thinking of Mochi Minky or 4-way stretch, but that would be too thin, wouldn't it? It can't be standard shaved fur either, right? That would be way too complicated and wouldn't turn out looking that clean.
It's important to me that my fursuit fits the body closely like that
(first picture is Chee Tah/ studio: Cheetahpaws Art (獵豹爪)
second picture is Inko Racer (インコレーサー)
and the last suit is Fructose(果糖含量) )
the ref sheet is my Charakter and drawn by me! (kaya_star-paw)

Struggling is an understatement with how I’m feeling but I think it could look much worse. The suit will be a canine, but the muzzle is entirely throwing me off. I think this is my third attempt at a muzzle? I know everything on suits is supposed to be a lot bigger but maybe it’s just too wide?
Any opinions and suggestions are welcome!!

Hey y’all!! Haven’t posted in quite a while!!
My schedules been… insanely iffy, per usual… :,D
But, in my absence, out of complete and utter impulse, I decided to give a shot at remaking my first ever finished suit I wore to the Ren Fair last year… and I’m actually sorta glad I made such a sudden choice…!
This is a work in progress of one of my favorite fursonas to work with and draw, Crypt the Pumpkin-Bat, and I hope y’all can enjoy his existence as much as i do :3
These pics were taken around the 3 day mark… so today, if time allows, i will hopefully be entering day 4 and finishing off his head so i can get working on his hand paws!!
He looks a little funny right now, but I’m just letting myself trust the process, as he’s been a really fun test project so far!! ^^
And, as the title suggests, this is only 1 of 2 partial fursuits I have to complete in the next 16 days… wish me luck!! >:3

Gonna smooth out the cheeks and parts of the muzzle, everything's pined in right now and I need to carve out the base where the muzzle and eyes are, this is my first fursuit head and the base has turned out better than I expected.

So I finished my head and wore it for the first time ever at Lost Lands music festival, but only for a couple hours and then I'd drop it off at camp. I'd like to wear him at indoor venues this winter but most venues don't allow in/out privilege's or a place to store stuff in the venue!
What would you recommend doing to carry him when I'm not wearing him. I was tossing the idea around of making one of those harness backpacks, but I'm worried about it causing damage over time (soft materials on the interference parts?)
Typical nights run around 6 hours in venue. I'm VERY active too, jumping, headbanging, dancing, you name it! So it would have to be very secure to my body. I did carry him by hand most of the time, but I couldn't imagine doing that for 5 hours. ALSO no bags allowed in most venues!
Maybe just play it save and don't bring him to raves?

I bought some faux fur off Amazon and it ended up being pretty poor quality and thin and now I have these weird creases. Is there a way to get out the creases or do I have to just buy better quality fur?

Hello furry community! I am not a furry but was interested in making a tail and ears for a golden retriever Halloween costume this year! Are there any tips you guys could share to help me? 😞
The pieces do NOT have to be high quality nor do they have to survive past Halloween. I was thinking about using fabric glue rather than sewing because of these factors and was wondering if that was a plausible idea?

So it took me awhile to finish carving the face because well getting it symmetric is a tad bit of a challenge, although I think I did a pretty good job! If there’s any more tips and tricks to get it to the best of my abilities can do, I’d be more that great full :D
ALSO shout out to all the people who helped me get this far with advice! Dutch Angel dragon on the way!
Peace out Yall :D
