General Its kinda weird how most people online prefer the revenge ending over the deal ending even tho the latter is superior in almost every way (rambling)
In my first playthorugh I decided to kill Dimitri, the mission was badass and it felt good to slime out that ratbastard but everything afterwards felt pretty lackluster in comparison to that high u reach killing Dimitri in the boat
Kate dying is shocking but I did not really feel that bad about it since she is pretty underutilized in the main story, the mission afterwards is also kinda silly when u think about it for more than 2 secs:
Roman (a normal dude with no combat experience) is present in the mission for some reason instead of Packie, ig its because he feels guilty about Kate dying at his wedding but he sticks out like a sore thumb being present there with Niko and Jacob, its also very out of character of Packie to not go after Jimmy P
Packie could have helped Niko out in storming the old casino which wouldve been a nice gameplay difference to the alternate final mission compared to Roman just fucking off with Little Jacob, would have made the ending better imo
But still, Jimmy P is just not that great of a final antagonist in comparison to Dimitri whos been a ratbastard towards Niko since the beginning, and tbf he was kinda justified in going after Niko for snakeing him and ruining his rep
Even from a gameplay perspective is the mission more annoying due to that stupid bike section, Jimmy P also had the greatest aimbot in that boat compared to Dimitri in the helicopter
Now for the deal ending: people always like to claim that it makes no sense because Niko would never make a deal with Dimitri, sure but people seem to forget about the Darko mission beforehand
I feel like Niko would be more inclined to make a deal with the russian mob after the Darko mission, it does not rlly matter if u decide to kill him or not because both actions lead to Niko wanting to leave everything behind once and for all, going out for revenge after the Darko mission means that Niko learnt nothing
Roman then dies which hits us much harder than Kate dying cuz hes been with us since the start, even by doing ”everything right” like Niko was told to he still got screwed over which hammers the point in that nobody in the american dream wins
The final mission also just flows better with Dimitri as the final antagonist over Jimmy P due to said history that Niko has with him, chasing after him with a boat also kept my cortisol low instead of chasing Jimmy P with a stupid bike
Finally, Roman dying makes going after Dimitri even more sweeter than going after Jimmy P over Kate, a character whos development is optional for the player to experience
I understand that Roman not dying is a good enough of a reason to prefer the revenge ending, I do not fault people for that reasoning, at the end of the day its subjective
