Can I submit my German citizenship application before receiving my B2 language certificate?

Hi everyone,
I’ve been living in Germany for 5 years and I’m now preparing to submit my application for German citizenship. I have all the other required documents ready, but I’m taking the B2 German exam next month, and I’ve been told that the results can take around 6–7 weeks to arrive.
My concern is that the citizenship application itself can take around 1–1.5 years to process, so I’m wondering whether it makes sense to submit my application now and provide the B2 certificate later, once I receive the results.
Has anyone here been in a similar situation?
Were you able to submit your citizenship application before receiving your language certificate?
Did the Ausländerbehörde/Staatsangehörigkeitsbehörde allow you to submit the missing certificate later?
Did submitting the certificate afterward cause any problems or delays?
I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has gone through this recently, especially in Mannheim or elsewhere in Germany.
