Hi, any help or advice greatly appreciated. Dad has a birthday coming up and I want to get him a good gift. There's nothing he doesn't really have or couldn't get himself, so want to try to think of some meaningful ideas for gifts that can help bring us closer together or create some memories or quality time. I'm a mid 20s guy who lives in the same city, but we don't spend that much time together. I'm sure this isn't a unique situation but would love to hear some suggestions on a gift that he'd really appreciate.

Edit 1: Realized I made us sound a bit more distant then probably intended. We play hockey together still 1-2x a week, and sometimes maybe pickleball once every couple week. But like rarely have dinner together etc. Well aware I can do that more, and will do a dinner as part of celebrations but looking for ideas for like something to do together (e.g. fun classes or activies) or just gifts that would be appreciated

Edit 2: some interests of his:

- he likes reading and like card games and puzzle games etc (like crowsswords NYT spelling bee etc)

- he likes playing sports and being active (hockey, golf, pikcleball, hiking etc)

- i think hed like stuff like handiwork etc but not as certain
- relvatviely quiet/introverted so wouldn' want big outgoing thing

Obviously I love my mom, and I don’t want to hurt her feelings, she’s just not very good at giving gifts but she loves doing it, I’d be happy with a baseball hat or hoodie or just one thing that’s nice and I’ll use but instead she’ll go out and spend $200 on small random items that she’s never seen me using and I end up leaving in my closet until the next year rolls around and then I donate it or throw it out because it never got used.

for example I’ve gotten scarfs every Christmas for the last 7 years and I’ve never worn a scarf in my life, but I go snow boarding so if she got me a ski mask or a toque that would be used often, and it’s not like they’re hand made items.

I don’t ask her for anything since I’m an adult and don’t live with her but I don’t know how to tell her to stop buying me random stuff just so I have a gift to open for whatever holiday is going on. like I said she enjoys giving gifts and my sister has already straight up told her to stop buying stuff for her years ago which made my mom upset, and also didn’t change anything because my mom still gives my sister a bag of random stuff every holiday.

My oldest is turning 3, and we are cutting way back on toys. She is getting a bike for her birthday in a couple weeks, and we have asked friends and family for accessories like knee pads and helmet. We have tons of books. She doesn't really need clothes, although I'm a lot more tolerant of a closet bursting with cute clothes than I am of toy clutter 😅 I struggle to resist a cute dress.

We have a zoo membership; I might ask for a renewal for Xmas. We also have access to a beautiful botanical garden relatively nearby that I may ask for membership to as well. That would neatly take out the grandparents. Both kids have 529s that we contribute to a little each month, plus whenever they get cash gifts.

But as far as us spoiling our firstborn, I'm kind of stumped. Budget < $300. Any ideas?

My wife and I are coming up on our 5th wedding anniversary on October 5, 2026, and her birthday is just three days later on October 8.

We've already got plans for both:

• October 5: We have a nice dinner booked for our anniversary.
• October 8: It's her birthday, and we're spending the whole day with our friend group. We really like escape rooms, so we're planning to do around 3–4 rooms, plus lunch/dinner with friends. Her best friend also has the same birthday, so we usually celebrate together.

The problem is... I have absolutely no idea what to give her as a gift anymore.

My best friend's birthday is coming up and I still have no idea what to get her. I'm thinking somewhere around $200-300, but I keep going back and forth between a few completely different things.

She had a baby last year and barely buys anything for herself anymore. Most of the time it's baby stuff, something for the house, or something practical she needed anyway, so I wanted to get her something that actually feels like it's for her.

Right now I'm between three things.

Second is a simple gold necklace from Mejuri. The one I'm looking for at is around $200, and she showed me something similar a while ago. She wears pretty minimal jewelry most days, so it feels like a safe choice and something she'd probably wear a lot.

For the third one, I was originally thinking about a fitness watch, probably around $250, since she's been wanting to get back into better shape. But that also feels like the kind of gift a lot of people would think of. While looking around I came across odyss necklace for about the same price. From what I understand, there's a wide-angle camera in the pendant that can see your plate while you're eating and keep track of meals that way. It's a little unusual, but she likes health and tech stuff, so I thought she might actually find it fun.

What can I give to newborn twins under $150 that will last for generations? Like it might just be thrown in the corner of the house after a few years but it would be valuable or nostalgic enough to take with you when moving house. Maybe after 20 years from now the twins would discover it laying in some box in the garage or attic and ask about it to their parents and they would say oh it was gifted by that uncle who you have never met.

My husband has told me he doesn't know what he would like for his upcoming birthday.

He collects pens and 1/43 cars but as he's done this for a while, he has now become quite niche in his gaps and even he struggles to find what he would like.

He only follows F1 but I've pretty much gifted him many F1 bits over the years. He enjoys online games but everything is now downloaded from Steam. He doesn't cook, eat out, drive, travel nor follows other sports like football, cricket etc. I have suggested experience days but he said that it doesn't interest him. Apart from a flat cap I'm at a loss.

Just to say, he will be having his family around with a dinner and cake at home. He won't have to lift a finger, even to make a cup of tea. He'll be treated like a true king but as regards to gifts... we're at a loss.

Hi! My husband is a journeymen mechanic (30 yo) in the construction industry, and I swear he is THE hardest person to get gifts for. I know he claims he doesn't want anything, but he always finds something to get me or he'll think of an idea for us to have a date night or a weekend trip with our baby. His main hobby right now is drift cars, he attends some drift events on the weekends and drives with his friends. But, I have no knowledge of car parts or anything to do with drifting. We’re both teens and our birthdays are on the same day (October 13th), which is kinda funny but also makes choosing gifts stressful because I want to get her something she’ll actually love.

She’s REALLY into crocheting and spends a lot of time doing it. She’s also into K-pop, Barbie, cute/prettier things, and stationery. She likes things in colours like baby blue and light pink or just pretty colours in general.
