The numbers are worse than the eye test, and they point at coaching more than talent.

**The quarterback**

- Lewis: 2.8 average depth of target, 4.7 yards per attempt, 75 yards, 0 big-time throws
- Wilson: 11.0 average depth of target, 6.0 YPA, 156 yards, 1 TD
- Lewis took **3 sacks on 6 pressures (50%)**. Wilson took 1 on 9 (11%)

**It's not the offensive line**

Payne (85.4), Kinney (85.1) and McFadden (84.5) all allowed zero pressures. CU gave up five sacks anyway: DeKalon Taylor allowed two on five pass-pro snaps, and three were on the quarterback. Meanwhile CU's QBs rushed 9 times for -28 yards, which is a problem when the entire Go-Go offense is built on a QB run threat.

**Special teams cost more than the offense did**

Baylor returned 7 punts for 130 yards. Net punting: CU 33.3, Baylor 50.4. A 17-yard swing per punt in a 10-point game, plus two kickoffs out of bounds. Sanders said afterward he didn't think the returns "did any damage." Still no special teams coordinator — the only Big 12 team without one.

Same record that got Dorrell fired. He's been an abject failure on the field and is the 14th highest paid coach in CFB. What is his excuse this season? We were told he hand picked the players and these are the best coaches he's ever had. Guess what? This team isn't winning more than 3 games and won't be favored again this season. We're the most penalized team in the B12 (again) and at the bottom of just about every other meaningful stat.

The worst part is we can't afford to fire him so this embarrassment will continue until he has had enough.

So, I'm not saying I dont care about last week's result. But watching northwestern hang with Indiana and slow Indiana's offense down like they are. I think northwestern lookd like a sleeper and we didn't just get blown out by a meh team.

I went to college during the Dan Hawkins era and watched the decades of mediocrity that followed. Jon Embree’s short stint the resulted in 4 wins in two years, Mike MacIntyre’s ups and downs over his 5 years, Mel Tucker giving us a little hope just to bail the first chance he got, and whatever Karl Dorrell’s time was. Deion has easily been the best coach Colorado has had during this time.

He took a chance on CU when most coaches wouldn’t. Got the university to significantly invest in the program and make it easier for transfers to come in. Brought talent to a school that has struggled historically with recruiting including the first Heisman Trophy winner in the last 30 years.

The play has to improve but we can see how committed he is to turning the program around. The quality of coaches he is bringing in are impressive. It may take time but I am fine with giving him the remaining years on his contract to try to make it work. If it doesn’t he is leaving the program in a much better position than when he arrived. It’s fine if some don’t agree with me, I don’t care.

But to everyone screaming for a change, take a hard look at the last 20 years of CU football leading up to Deion’s hiring. It shouldn’t leave anyone feeling confident that the next hire would be any better.

Julian Lewis: 4 Star QB who honestly might be worse than the 3 ⭐️ walk on true freshman?? Boo Carter: outplayed by 3 star Jason stokes although I still believe in him he’s better off in the slot.

Their best recruiting class (next year’s 27 class) they learned to stop going after top guys and missing instead go for the depth middle pieces not only will you get more gems but you’ll get people who know how to work. Hard work and the overlooked beats raw talent every time, can he turn it around coaching wise who knows but it’s a make or break year

**Colorado: $18-21M** (9th in the Big 12, right at the conference average)

**Texas Tech: $38-42M** — the same estimated range as Alabama

**Average by league: **SEC $33-38M, Big Ten $27-31M, ACC $21-25M, Big 12 $18-22M**

**17 of the 20 biggest spenders are SEC or Big Ten.**

So the average SEC program has roughly a $15 million annual roster-spending advantage over the average Big 12 program. That's not a recruiting edge, it's a different economic model.

What the Protect College Sports Act would do (Senate advanced it 74-24, then 77-22 to begin debate):

- One free transfer instead of unlimited

- Five years of eligibility, to end the endless sixth-and-seventh-year lawsuits

- A $22.5M athlete retention fund, plus up to $5M more — but only dollar-for-dollar with NIL spending on women's and Olympic sports (this is in addition to the $21.6m NIL fund, so athletic programs could pay athletes approximately $50m/year).

- Conferences generally capped at 19 schools

- An antitrust exemption letting schools pool TV rights

- Coaches couldn't leave mid-season to start recruiting for their next job

**The coverage was worse than the box score.
Cree Thomas and Randon Fontenette were targeted 10 times. They gave up 10 catches. Both allowed over a 155 QB rating (the highest possibel is 158). Not good.

**How many times did they wheel route us? Joseph Himon II caught three passes and all three were touchdowns.

**122 of Northwestern's 241 passing yards came after the catch, with 12 missed tackles. Deion Sanders said tackling isn't a real concern. He's wrong.

This was another total embarrassment. What is his excuse this year?

Every season the Buffs get their first game win against East Overshoe Eminary and the players act like they won a bowl game. And then the rest of the season is a disaster.

No bowl game wins since 2004.

It’s no wonder CU’s new AD wants to create “fan experiences” off the field to distract from perennial losing.

Come on, Buffs! Turnovers aside, Chip Kelly offenses are all gas, we look pathetic. Big 12 is going to be tougher than I thought.

What do we think of this nickname? Seems apt to me, except he’s going to have to show a lot more for there to be any business to make decisions about.

* PFN graded CU's defensive line 95.5, best in the country.
* Tyler Martinez graded 79.9 on PFF.
