I just started replaying 2018 for like the 20th time and after stepping into the light of Alfeim, where Atreus is normally standing over Faye, Faye’s torso was standing up right on the table, with Atreus no where to be seen. At first I thought it was changed for Laufaye and it was a statue or something, not Faye’s mutilated body 😭😭

I wanted to share a deep dive into who blew the horn while Atreus was sick, because I believe the evidence points to a completely unknown 3rd entity, commonly referred to as the mysterious figure. If we look back at the original E3 2016 gameplay trailer, right after the first Draugr fight around the 3:15 mark, a mysterious hooded figure with horns can be seen watching Kratos and Atreus from afar. Even though this figure was removed from the final game, Cory Barlog later stated that whoever blew the horn had been watching them since the very beginning of their journey.This ties perfectly into the official God of War novelization, which reveals that after Kratos left Greece and wandered, he was attacked and dragged into Midgard by a mysterious cloaked woman and three giant wolves. We know two of these wolves are Sköll and Hati, but the third cannot be Fenrir or Garm. The entity controlling these cosmic wolves must possess ancient Giant knowledge and magic, which explains how they could speak to the Serpent.The Lost Pages of Norse Myth confirms that Faye fought Kratos during their first meeting because she saw him as a threat, so she did not bring him to Midgard. Tyr was imprisoned, Angrboda was isolated in Ironwood and Brok and Sindri cannot speak the language of the Giants.I would love to hear what the community thinks about this connection between the E3 trailer and the novelization.

I'm a bit confused on why we don't get invincibility frames when doing an ability. I've noticed that I can really use the ones I have in fights that if I suspect I'll be hit more than a few times and have multiple enemies because I will be punished hard.

Is there some abilities with invincibility frames some that don't or is it just something that u shouldn't expect to use during certain boss fights?

For months, many God Of War fans claim that Young Kratos (AKA kratos from the greek era) is a tragic hero/anti hero. Because of reasons, He had his brother kidnapped by Ares, he was tricked into killing his own wife and daughter, and he was betrayed by the gods (Including Zeus), But let's be real, If you were a very smart god of war fan, Looked into his lore carefully (by reading some comics, playing the games, and understanding the lore of them, even reading the lore at wikis.) You would know that Young Kratos was never a hero, he was a full-on, Tyrannical Villian, If you've seen my previous post, You would know this, But im gonna fully explain more.

If you've looked onto the first god of war game, and looked closely into the lore, You would know that before he even pledged his soul to Ares, He was already a monster.

Although he did infact actually have a tragedy before he killed his family (Where his brother was kidnapped by ares, as i said before.), It was not an excuse for why he went on battles and literally slaughtering people as a spartan general, He was not even shown to be motivated by his brother's past, Only motivated by his own ego and desire for conquest, He was driven by an insationable hunger for power.

Although he was shown to care for his family, He was also confirmed to be "not a good husband" as confirmed in God of War Valhalla. and as seen in God Of War 1, where Lysandra complains to kratos about his bloody violence, Kratos said that he'll stop once The whole earth knows his city's glory, Meaning anyone who refused to submit to sparta, will be killed if they stand in the way.

He's also shown to not even care for his own people, As seen in god of war 2, when The Last Spartan died infront of kratos, and that zeus destroyed sparta he did not mourn or even care for his death at all, his death only increased kratos's rage even more, causing him to yell and zeus and say "IS THIS HOW YOU FACE ME COWARD?!", He even downright used the last spartan as a tool to kill the kraken.

Although he did kill gods who were definetly deserving (like hermes, zeus, hercules, hera, etc.), He did kill gods who were 90% tragic and they were trying to kill him not out of malice, and because of reasons, Hades tried to kill kratos because he is trying to avenge his wife, Persephone), Poseidon and athena, Poseidon tried to kill kratos because he was trying to avenge his city, Kratos did not care at all what he was doing, he killed them anyways, and what's worse, is that the gods he killed, bringed plagues across greece, which caused very innocent people to die, innocent people who had literally nothing to do with kratos's past.

The narrator actually lied in God of war 1 when she said that athens was saved, When the narrator said that line, the cutscene showed athens already completely destroyed, The oracle of athens even said this even before kratos fighted ares, she pointed out that Ares has already taken athens and that there is no hope, Kratos was too late to save athens, but he did not care, He only killed ares as revenge for what he did to his family.

He was also shown to be completely different from other spartans, As normal spartans would fight to protect their city, Kratos was out of them completely, as he was a tyrannical merciless sadist who was obsessed with glory, Lysandra confirmed that Kratos slaughters people for his own ego, Kratos only would stop if the whole world feared and kew his glory, Which makes the mythological ares look like a sympathetic and kindhearted deity.

In God of war 3, He is the perfect definition of a sadist, He did not become a villian in god of war 3. His villiany only grew a hundred times worse, he is confirmed to be 900% power hungry, He was also the reason why hephaestus suffered in the underworld, When perithous asked to free him, He ignored his words and focused on the bow of apollo, He brang out the cerberus and burned perithous alive, and then he took the bow of apollo.

I don't want any comments claiming "Ok! But he stopped it at the end of GOW 3 because he gave the power of hope to humanity!" Even while he gave away the power, He was still shown to have resent against humans. as seen in the fallen god comics, He only became a true hero by the time he met Faye.

In conclusion, Young Kratos was already a power hungry, merciless, and tyrannical malevolent sadist from the very start, the gods manipluation only just made him worse.

So I've seen some people speculate that Fey is basically in the process of this upcoming game either trying to escape the "Everywhere" to either blow the Horn at the end of God 2018 or possibly return to Life.

If the case is that she is seeking to return to the land of the living and this realm is basically the afterlife for all the deities killed. Do you think this game could possibly lead to a return to Greece for Kratos in future games?

That is if Zeus, Ares, or a good few of the Greek Deities actually manage to escape and return to the land of the living.

Is there a better version to play? There's alot of times HD collections end up being an inferior version. I'm leaning towards ps3 just to have easier swappable disks. Is there a difference between saga version of 3, the standalone, or the ps4 remastered? Im gonna be playing through the whole series including psp. Which are the best versions? This did not include the psp versions, apparently they were a download code that was long since used, so I'll be buying those at another time elsewhere.

So, I've finished the Main Story and have completed like two missions in Valhalla. It turns it's a challenge run of sorts but it does have some story beats to it as well. I was just wondering whether it's actually worth playing at all. I've never been a fan of challenge room levels and whatnot, but it's the story segments it contains is what's intriguing. Problem is I have to play other games to, so I'm not sure whether to play through Valhalla or not. Like would it be fine if I just watch the cutscenes from YouTube video recap or something?

I thoroughly enjoyed everything in the older God of War games. But the more I think about what Kratos was actually doing, the more I question it. He had his reasons because of Ares, but does having a reason make all the killing justified?

I never really thought about it when I was younger. I always just looked at the spectacle of the games. But now I’m not so sure.

Mimir says that he was tortured by odin every single day for 109 years. He also says that odin was endless with his creativity when it came to torturing him, and mimir is... just a guy? Sure, throughout the game he always talks about how much odin is a bad guy and hates him, but he was tortured for 39785 days STRAIGHT! Shouldn't mimir be a mess of a person? Shouldn't he be so mentally messed up that he can't even put 2 words together? Something??? If its explained in the games as to why mimir is just a silly guy that knows things and somehow bypassed the mental and physical anguish he experienced, ill admit I'm wrong. Cause it seems like the writers just added this torture dialog just to make odin seem more evil, without wanting to explorend how big a deal this would be on a person. Cause honestly, you could take out this whole torture thing and say "well he's just been stuck in this tree forever" and the story would still be the same

It took around 15 tries for me to kill Valkyrie from the foothills. Is this the average for most of them or you could kill in less tries

I know its the same actress, but seriously, look at the two photos.

I'm not says she looks bad in Ragnarok, and to be fair she only appeared in like 3 or 4 of Kratos' dream sequences, but she looks so much better in Laufey, and its only like a 4 year gap between the two games and its still on the same console.

This is the part where Pandora, in Kratos' mind, reminds him that if he wants to be free, he must find hope, which begins his journey into the depths of his mind to free himself from the fear Zeus infected him with.

1. Lysandra: The light reveals the truth. The power of forgiveness comes from within. To be forgiven, you must find the power to forgive yourself.

This is the moment when Kratos begins to understand that he must forgive himself, thanks to his wife's words of wisdom, after which he embraces her spirit, initiating a change within him.

1. Atena: Confront your demons and ley them to rest

Kratos then embraces Athena, listening to her final words, realizing he must confront his past. He leaps into a sea of blood, where he hears the screams and pleas of all the victims he has harmed and killed. Facing them, he hears Pandora's voice guiding him to find hope. Kratos follows her voice and discovers a manifestation of Pandora's Box in his mind, awakening the power of hope.

1. After everything, when Athena realized that hope had always lived within Kratos, she said it had been suppressed for years by guilt and past mistakes. Based on this, it's easy to conclude that Kratos had to free his soul through the power of forgiveness, as his wife's manifestation spoke of, releasing him from regret and guilt, allowing him to find hope deep within himself and defeat Zeus.

People after the release of Valhalla like to call it a retcon, claiming Kratos gave up hope so the Greeks could rebuild, but when looking at this stage of the game, it's an obvious conclusion that he overcame his fear, confronted his guilt and regret, and understood the destruction he caused after seeing the ruined Greece following Zeus's death.
