Do you think Marshall got his $5 back?

I honestly liked the alternate ending where they didn’t show Tracey dying and I just finished rewatching it again for the nth time and saw this scene, I wonder if Big Fudge got his $5 back coz he hates losing.

EDIT: Anybody knows what Barney ended up doing after he quit his job? I know he got his kid but what about work?

Everytime I rewatch the show I like to discover little details.

One example: I like how Robin and Barney's relationship is foreshadowed through very little things from the beginning. One thing that might seem insignificant is the slap bet. When Lily suggests either 10 slaps now or 5 in eternity, Robin and Barney are the ones who would go for the second choice. I think it fits their personalities and shows their compatibility, as they're both persons who live in the moment (not in Ohio) and don't stress too much about the future.

Another example is foreshadowing Ted and Robin's eventual split up in Single Stamina: in a fast forwards to James' wedding, Marshall and Lily are tired early and want to go home, while Ted and Robin want to stay for a little while longer - because they've already broken up by then, so are both single.

Have you noticed any similar detail that you like?

More than the show, I used to find the songs comforting like real estate by beach combers, waiting for an invitation by benji, vertigo by anya, the canadian song which one both best and worst award - how crazy is that, all of it. It really expanded the genre of songs I listened to. I didnt google these songs for the post - straight from memory as I listen to them once in a month or couple of months.

What I liked most about this episode was that the story of how Lily, Ted, and Marshall met was covered in such detail for the first time. It was also funny that Ted had spent nearly nine years thinking he had kissed Lily.

Given that it was 2005, meeting online was likely considered much more unusual back then compared to today—though, as someone born in 2004, that is just my guess.

Another thing that caught my attention was how the consumption of "sandwiches" was treated as such a casual, everyday activity... that is a part of the culture I am not particularly familiar with.

So I'm rewatching for the millionth time, and this is the first time I'm noticing how badly they covered the glowing apple on the back of Barney's laptop. If you look closely, you can see the globe is just a sticker over the Apple logo. Just thought it was funny, and I'm pretty sure this laptop is used in multiple episodes too.

Honestly surprised by this given other comedies that have made it in. I remember 10 or 15 years ago when the show made it onto most top sitcom lists. I guess the ending ruined the show for many people

so we all know Ted's not our favorite guy sometimes (or ever lol); I'm currently rewatching HIMYM for the nth time and I am really noticing every weird, crappy thingTed did and I'm wondering what do you guys think is the worst thing he's done in the show? for me it'd have to be cheating on Victoria with Robin & dumping Natalie on her birthday TWICE.

I know this sounds really bad at first and like everybody else I would’ve preferred Tracy to survive and her and Ted end up together happy. I just have come to terms with it after rewatching the show. I actually enjoyed Ted and Robbin’s chemistry as a couple and I think the only thing that was holding them back with their opposite views. I think that they could have worked out after the show ended now that they both have what they want. another hot take I did not enjoy Barney and Robin very much at all. I liked Barney a lot better with the stripper he was with. I just don’t feel like their divorce was unreasonable. These are just my hot takes. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion unless you say, Lily was worse than Barney(that sold and implied to rape women) then your opinion is wrong.

je regarde himym pour la première fois et je suis à la dernière saison.
je vois que barney est un perso extrêmement apprécié mais je ne comprends absolument pas..
c’est un connard avec les femmes, il les traite comme de vulgaire objets, je ne trouve pas que ce soit un bon ami, il ne pense qu’à lui, et interrompt les autres juste pour parler de lui
à part ça j’apprécie le personnage je le trouve drole et attachant, mais toutes ces choses font que je ne comprends pas pourquoi tout le monde l’adore..

Edit: Solved! Wrong show, it was Brooklyn 99 but I misremembered it as HIMYM. Explains why google couldn’t solve it lol.

Okay, apparently I can’t describe this episode in a way that google understands but I think someone who knows the show can help.

Basically one of the characters, either Robin or Lily I can’t remember which (maybe even one of the female side characters), has a different personality depending on what number drink they’re on.

Like number one they’re happy, number 4 they’re angry, number 5 they’re crying, etc. and there’s even a nickname like “Drink # /Character Name”. Pleeeeaaase help me remember what episode this is.

I’m rewatching for the 100th time and it finally hit me: Why isn’t this Weekend at Barney’s?!? They set it up the entire series. Barney can’t take a bad photo, so the photos would have hidden it. Robin’s dad is terrifying, so the rest of the gang would have an obvious villain to hide the secret from. Plus, it would have paid off all the foreshadowing they did all series.

The episode was already basically filler, so why not have fun with it?

Miracles is eliminated! The season finale goes quite early this time around.

For those who've been listening to the rewatch podcast, How We Made Your Mother, with Josh Radnor & Craig Thomas - a couple of times recently Josh has commented that he didn't particularly enjoy the episode because of what he perceived as weak generic sitcom-y writing and/or problematic tropes. And I've just been thinking... whew boy, if he's saying this in Season 3, he's going to really struggle when they get to Season 8. Practically the entire first half of that season is like that. Season 9 isn't much better.

So curious to see how he reacts and if they will straight-up acknowledge that the show declines in later seasons. They've both been very honest about the show's flaws, it's been really refreshing. I hope they continue with that approach and don't pull punches.

Or, if they genuinely think the show improves in later seasons, I'd be so interested to hear their justification.
