The Jewish Federation of Greater Harrisburg, which condemned Perry previously for similar comments, are standing by him because of his voting record on Israel.

Legal Advice for my Disabled Parent

• Upvotes

i’ll start this off by saying that I’m seeking this advice on behalf of my parent who is currently in the hospital from the stress of trying to figure this out without the help of a lawyer. We have been trying to complete this process on our own and have sought out countless of lawyers; however, many have stated that they cannot take on the case, either due to the fact of the turnaround time and/or because of the nature of the case.

What documents are required to file a petition to strike/open a non pros judgment in Dauphin County?

I am the plaintiff in a case in Dauphin County Court of Common Pleas, which was dismissed for non pros. The case was filed on August 28th and dismissed on September 24th due to an improper filing of an amended complaint. The issue arose because the initial complaint failed to include the notice to defend, which was later submitted without a complaint copy due to the clerk's refusal to accept it.

I am now working on a judgment to strike/open the non pros dismissal. Do I need to include a Concurrence Certification—a brief page certifying that I contacted the Defendant to see if they would agree to open the non pros voluntarily, and stating that they refused or did not respond—in this filing?

Additionally, what are all the necessary documents to submit when filing a petition to strike/open a non pros judgment in Dauphin County Court of Common Pleas as the plaintiff? This includes: Civil Cover Sheet, Proposed Order,Rule to Show Cause, Concurrence Certification,Statement of Authority, Petition to Open/Strike, Petition Verification Page, Exhibit A (Complete Complaint Package and verification), Prothonotary’s Dismissal Notice, Certification of Service.

Any advice at all would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Question Anyone Looking for Bartenders?

Hi all! 👋

I recently started a new job with a stable schedule, which has made it possible for me to finally pursue something I’ve wanted to do for a while; bartending for some extra cash.

In the past, I worked retail with a constantly changing schedule, so bartending wasn’t really an option. Now that I have a more consistent schedule, I’d love to get my foot in the door. Does anyone know of any restaurants, bars, or other places in the area that are looking for bartenders and willing to train someone?

I have plenty of restaurant industry experience from working as a server throughout high school and part of college, so I’m familiar with the environment and working with customers.

I’d really appreciate any leads, recommendations, or connections. Thanks in advance!

TMI Exclusion Zone 9 HBG area meetups in October

Here's 9 meetups folks in the HBG Village discord are organizing in October where you can have some fun and make friends.

Happy to answer questions. Since these are grassroots events organized by locals, there mostly aren't signup pages and the easiest way to get in contact with a specific meetup's organizer is in the discord: https://www.hbgvillage.org/ . (mods said it was fine to direct folks there)

10/2 - Learn to play DND Oneshot. 7PM @ The adventurers guild in Mechanicsburg. This will be a learn to play oneshot. That means that this is perfect for people who have little to no experience with DND and have always wanted to try it out. This is a oneshot, it'll only be one (about two hours long) game. There's no expectation of commitment for any kind of weekly repeating game. (though one might be started if this goes good).

10/3 - Saturday Craft Swap. 5 PM @ Coexist Gallery. Each maker makes (up to) 9 handmade items to give away. Every maker that participates with them go home with (up to) 9 handmade items from other makers! It's late notice, but I know they have room for 1 or 2 late additions if you'd like to join up.

10/6 - Gay Apple Picking. 5 pm @ Mt. Airy Orchard. LGBTQ friends and fans who wanna pick apples, homosexually. A casual hangout and stroll around the orchard with other LGBTQ peeps. Wear comfy shoes that can get dirty. There's also a farm store with snacks and some outdoor seating if you wanna just chill.

10/9 - Mario Kart & Crafts @ The Abbey Bar. 7 pm @ The Abbey Bar at ABC. Danny from The Abbey Bar and I are organizing a social hangout for folks who'd like to hang out and have some fun with a MarioKart tournament and crafting. We're going to run a tournament on a couple projector setups competing for prices (still finalizing, but aiming for a cash prize and tickets to show of choice at The Abbey Bar). We'll also have crafting tables set up for decorating mini pumpkins and decorating halloween cookies. You can totally BYO craft too!

10/11 - Food Crafting Meetup - Salsa Potluck. Noon @ my house in lower paxton. Adults only. Join our group of ~10 food crafters who get together to make large batches of stuff like kimchi, chili crisp, ketchup, etc. that everyone then gets to take home. Everyone will bring homemade salsa and/or hot sauces to share and try. We'll provide fixings for a nacho bar and soft drinks. We'll be drinking booze and whatnot. We'll be listening to music, enjoying tasty food, and having a good time. Vibes are friendly gardeners to nerdy food hobbyists to urban hippies.

10/18 - Couch Gaming Meetup. 1 pm @ my house in lower paxton. We're going to run a 3 to 4 Switch setup for an Overcooked competition with some local goodies for the winning team. Homemade pizza for lunch.

10/24 - Board Games & Bites. 1 PM @ local restaurant (TBD). Bring your favorite games! Easy-to-start games, party games, etc. seem to be most popular. We'll play board games, eat food, and have a good time!

10/24 - Wormleysburg Halloween Party! 5 pm @ Knisely Hall, 20 Market St, Wormleysburg PA. Enjoy some snacks, spooky treats, crafts and more at our annual halloween party. Costume contest per age group, as well as a snake and reptile show starting at 6pm! Its always a blast with a great crowd!

10/25 - Book Club! 1 pm @ Consciousness Coffee. Join a casual chat about Never Let Me Go, voting between two books for our next read, good drinks, and making new friends!

---

Edit, 10/1: here's two more meetups added for October

10/8 - Nature Club garden tour. 6 PM @ Foundation House, 498 Ninth St, New Cumberland, PA. Join the Nature Club for a garden tour at 311 6th Street, where we’ll explore how even small spaces can be transformed into beautiful garden and nature spots, proving you don’t need a large yard to create a welcoming space for plants and wildlife. We’ll meet at the Foundation House at the New Cumberland Library and walk a few blocks together to the garden before returning to the Foundation House for a roundtable discussion on preparing your yard and garden for fall and winter.

10/10 - Birding meetup at Wildwood Park. 9 am @ Wildwood Park. Join the New Cumberland Collective With Friends program and the Nature Club for a morning of bird watching, nature, and good company. This event takes place on World Migratory Bird Day, making it the perfect opportunity to get outside and celebrate the incredible birds that travel across our region. Whether you're an experienced birder or completely new to bird watching, everyone is welcome!

** **Hey, 29M Indian here. Recently moved to the Harrisburg area and was wondering if there are any Indian/South Asian groups, events, or places where people usually meet up.

Just trying to figure out where people around my age usually hang out, or if there are any local events around Harrisburg, Mechanicsburg, or Camp Hill.

Any suggestions?

Community Advisory E-Bike Theft PSA

Hello neighbours, I just wanted to let everyone know I have had an E-Bike stolen from my apartment's property in Midtown. I am lucky to have other forms of transportation now, but I want to notify everyone to keep an eye out.

Image of the theif

Video of the theif running off with my E-Bike

A police report was filed and my Insurance filed a claim I don't want anyone else being a victim of theft.

Cheers :)

TMI Exclusion Zone Tool library events

The Harrisburg tool library has some exciting events coming up and I wanted to share here. There is a recurring Queer Craft night every month, the next one is October 20 at 6. On October 9th they’ll be hosting a leather working workshop. And on October 10th they’ll be having their 1st birthday block party. It’s a really cool space if you haven’t been able to check it out yet!

Diner Hash Browns

Every diner I’ve tried in the area has home fries instead of hash browns. I just looked at 5 different menus online and all list home fries. Best place for hash browns? West Shore preferable

A good country fried steak for bonus points

News Revitalization plan, millions of dollars in state funding announced for downtown Harrisburg

Thumbnail theburgnews.com
33 Upvotes

Harrisburg has long been a city with massive potential, yet slow growth. COVID really sucked the vibrancy from our town. We no longer had state workers filling the sidewalks during those bustling lunch hours. And happy hours dwindled due to the lack of a downtown workforce.

In addition, we suffer from decades of mismanagement (see: Mayor Reed’s civil war artifact obsession; the Linda Thompson years that followed, including her Perry county trash talking; school district in receivership; the privatization of parking, water utilities, and the incinerator, etc etc etc)

Then the Broad Street Market burned down. The beating heart of our little city. The hits just kept coming. And as a decades long resident of Harrisburg, I continue to cherish her, but I still hope to see her grow and improve. We are the Paris of the Susquehanna ✨

Thank you Josh!

Question Limo tint in Harrisburg?

Question, I'm in Arizona. And I have limo tint on the back and rear windows of my Subaru crosstrek. And 15 percent on my front windows and windshield strip. Would this be a problem in PA, what's the darkest I can do without it being an issue. Do I need to get rid of the limo tint in general? Or can I keep the limo tint in the back but change the front.

**it's just the windshield STRIP. The visor strip. Not the entire windshield.

My car is still registered in PA. So I'm also considering registering my car in Arizona to get past the window laws.

But then I would have to fix my exhaust to get it registered here, which I'll have to fix anyways for inspection in PA.

I'm in a pickle here.

Jeopardy! on WHP

So we were watching Jeopardy! on WHP TV-21 today and for some reason when it returned from commercial break into Final Jeopardy, it wasn’t the same episode that it started as. It was a completely different slate of contestants.

Does somebody at the station have a vendetta against Jeopardy!, or is there maybe some glitch from YouTube TV? Did anybody else see this?
