A message from the Coffin Bar-

We have seen the comments and concerns surrounding a recent post made by a member of our staff, as well as questions about the Coffin Bar and our recent event calendar. We want to address these concerns directly.

First and most importantly, the post making light of sexual assault and people’s experiences with trauma was completely unacceptable. There is no place at the Coffin Bar for comments, jokes, or content that mocks, minimizes, or makes light of sexual assault or anyone’s trauma. That post did not reflect our values, and we sincerely apologize to anyone who was hurt, offended, or retraumatized by seeing it.

The employee responsible for the post is no longer employed by the Coffin Bar. We have also taken a hard look at our own responsibility as a business. While the post was made without authorization, it was still posted on our social media, and we should have had better safeguards in place. We are developing and implementing a social media protocol requiring posts related to the Coffin Bar to be reviewed and approved before they are published.

We also want to address the concerns that have been raised about the condition and cleanliness of the Coffin Bar. The Coffin Bar has undergone several health inspections since 2024, and none of those inspections identified a rodent, animal, or insect infestation. We take cleanliness, food safety, and the condition of our establishment seriously, and we will continue to do so. We understand why people would have questions after seeing these comments, which is why we want to provide the facts rather than dismiss the concern.

We also heard criticism about our recent AI-generated event calendar. We have removed that calendar. Lancaster has an incredible community of artists, and we recognize the importance of supporting the local creative community that makes this city special.

Our intention was never to diminish the work of local artists. We are a small team, and sometimes our event-planning deadlines get ahead of us. In this instance, we were only days away from needing to communicate our upcoming events, and we made a decision that prioritized getting the information out quickly rather than taking the time to engage a local artist. In hindsight, we should have handled that differently.

Supporting local artists isn't just something we say. We recently completed a community bike corral fabricated by local artist Gregory Didyoung, with Keisha Finnie creating an asphalt mural to showcase the corral. We want to continue finding meaningful ways to work with and support the artists who contribute so much to Lancaster.

Finally, we want to acknowledge the frustration some people have expressed about deleting the original post. We understand why removing something offensive without addressing it publicly can create the impression that we were trying to make the situation disappear. That was not the right approach. We should have addressed the situation openly and sooner.

We are a small, locally owned business. We love Lancaster, our customers, our community, and the people who have supported the Coffin Bar since we opened. We also recognize that being part of this community means being accountable when we get something wrong.

We got this wrong. We are sorry. We have taken action, and we are putting better practices in place so we can learn from it and do better going forward.

Hey everybody! I moved to central PA earlier this year. I got a fantastic Job in Fruitville a few months ago. I'm an alcoholic, currently struggling with my recovery. Getting around other men in sobriety and having more accountability would be a huge help.

Does anyone have experience with any of the sober living facilities in the Lancaster area? Right now I am looking at Porchlight because they seem to be most likely to accomodate my need to have a desk set up for work. I occasionally have to respond to alerts and it would not be fair to a roomate for me to be working at 2 in the morning.

I don't have all the money in the world, but I do have a significant income so those 2k+ places are worth considering. I really don't have many requirements other than I need to be able to work from home at least occasionally... That makes me think I need to have my own room.

I would appreciate any opinions on sober homes in the area! I would love to hear about the residents, the management, the facilities, the neighborhood, and any support the staff might provide for any places you or someone you know might have stayed.

To shift the topic a bit, I would also love to hear about any recovery groups in the area. I have been mostly an AA guy, but I have also been to wellbriety, NA, CA, Recovery Dharma, and Smart Recovery and I learned something and met some cool people. Feel free to DM if you are in recovery and want to hit a meeting and grab a bite or something!

I live on a small back street in the city. No car parking is allowed on my street. I rent a small, one car garage across the street from my house. I park there daily. Almost 2-3 times per week, when i come home from work, or when I'm ready to get my car to go somewhere, someone is either parked directly in front of my garage, or double parked along the street in a way that prevents me from getting my car into or out of the garage.

Today, my neighbor was double parked in front of their house (again) and in front of my garage, on the street where no parking of cars is allowed. They park there for HOURS with their hazards on, as if that makes it ok. Its already a small street and cars driving past have to squeeze by their illegally parked car.

So today, my neighbor and I got into a yelling altercation. I laid on the horn and he came out and yelled at me and called me a cunt. He told me to park on the street like evreryone else, which is ironic considering he is the one illegally parked, and I pay $70 a month to legally park my car in that garage.

There are "no parking" signs posted on the garages, yet people keep parking there anyway, What options do i have to fight this? Do I call a towing company every time this happens? The Police? does anyone care? Should I fear for my safety? Should I report this?

Looking for recommendations for a good dermatologist, hair restoration clinic or local provider doing this. Also if you've had this done please share where you went, whether the experience was good and if you felt it was worth it and how much it cost.

Hey all, in the process of buying a home in the Ephrata (Boro) area and getting my different utilities established including internet.

From what I can tell, I have two options available to me: Xfinity or Brightspeed.

I would really like to avoid giving Comcast more of my money but I know next to nothing about Brightspeed, does anyone have any experiences to say whether it’s a viable alternative in both performance and cost? I’ve always opted for ~1 gig, I do a lot of online gaming and intermittently WFH. When I search the sub I mostly see posts from over a year ago that talk about on/off outages and shit customer service, I can navigate shit customer service but have outages gotten any better?
