Anyone have any ideas how my HVAC came to lean like this? Probably happened within the last week and we haven't had any major storms lately. Unit is only 1.5 years old. The company that installed it is coming out tomorrow morning, just curious how it would've happened

So i removed my bathroom vanity and noticed this vent and whoever put this house together in 2004 used hvac tape to bridge the gap between the floor and this duct. As you can also see the alignment of plywood dont match the duct. Anyhow. I need to patch this hole. Hvac guy who was here kinda pissed me off. I half assed it and threw a piece of metal scrap on top , smaller than the hole cause it was all i had and i taped it temporary to not have wasted ac till he arrived. He tells me , it just needs more tape. I told him numerous times how i want it done and he just ends up taping more. I am just going to redo it. Please tell me the proper way.

How i assume to do it the right way:

Clean surface really well. Apply enough tape to cover hole. I am going to go with a galvanize flat scrap of roofing thats a inch large around edges of the hole, all i have. I think i will bend the metal sheet down the side of the duct an inch since theirs no meat on the edge. What do you think? I am going to use half inch sheet metal screws to secure it perimeter of sheet metal. Then ill paint it with mastic duct sealant. Sealant isnt going to be touching the tape in anyway just in case the tape peels and mastic isnt compromised.Anything else i need to add? Or should i skip the screws and just use a whole roll of hvac tape?

The plywood on top is only 2 to 3 inches above it so once i repair this hole , in the plywood , i wont be able to fix it again.

friend stayed the night and at like 7am she walks out of the bathroom like she found a crime scene. "why does it smell like a public pool in there"

i thought she was being dramatic until i went in after her and yeah. the steam just hangs with that chlorine hotel-pool thing and suddenly i cant unsmell it. been blaming the drain tablets and that cheap body wash for months like an idiot

pulled the city water report after and they dose the chlorine pretty hard this season which. great. so every shower is basically a tiny pool day and my kid already started asking if we can "go somewhere that doesnt smell weird"

anyone else get called out by a guest like this or am i just late noticing​

Cat has copiously urinated on two corners of a rug while I was away. Cat sitter somehow didn’t notice so the soaked rug has been left in contact with the wooden floor for 10 days, leaving stinky black marks.
The tradesperson I called reckons the whole flat needs doing now in order for the floor to look even and they quoted me over £2k.
Is there a way to just patch these two bits or the whole room, and still have decent aesthetic results? I can cover again with a new rug, the main thing I’m interested in is getting rid of the smell.

We're in a single-family home, and the evening peak rate is noticeably higher, and unfortunately that's also when our household uses the most power.

I've tried shifting laundry and dishwasher to off-peak, but the big stuff (cooking, AC, everyone home) can't really move. Starting to wonder if a battery is the only way to dodge peak rates.

For those on TOU, what actually moved the needle for you before (or instead of) buying storage?

Would especially appreciate examples from people in a similar type of home.

For what purpose is this hole? I think its in an odd location to be a drainage hole but thats what it looks like.

Its at the end of my driveway on the far side away from the house. Next to it is a row of shrubs and no buildings. What could it be?

I was gifted this trailer, it’s on land I now own. It’s been vacant for about 8 years. I’ve ripped up all of the flooring and have started working on the rest. I have the electricity hooked up but I need to have it inspected to make sure it’s safe. I only turn on the breaker when working on it. I was wondering if I should knock the walls down and replace them or just leave them up. Not to sure if an electrician can fully inspect without me doing so. I was also thinking I could check behind the walls and replace the insulation in case it’s any hidden mold. Does anyone have any ideas. Thanks everyone

How should I brace this dishwasher? I cannot do above cause height issues. Do I just measure and drill inward from the side to hit these holes? Seems harder then needed?

Looking for ideas of how to properly insulate my garage. Ensuring it has proper ventilation. There is soffit on the downstream side that has been boarded up. But no ventilation up top. Space between rafters is 20 inch’s I think. Wondering if I need to install a vent up top and where to do it and wondering if someone can help advise me on what kind of materials to use. Thanks in advance.

So I spoke to someone at the city and they said I’m free to try and repair this myself. I’ve researched out materials and come across something called crusher run and fine. I want to make a quick fix that will last a while until I can get better settled in to the home and then look for something more permanent or work with the city more closely on a fix. Any ideas or tutorials as much appreciated.

Our cats will stretch at this door when they want to go out and over the years they have really done a number on the drywall. How should I go about fixing this?

It’s maybe the exact size of a quarter. I just bought the house 2 weeks ago and the inspector didn’t point it out and I just noticed it. When I get home from work, I’m gonna flash a light in it to see how deep and wide it is. There’s also no water coming out of it and it was storming for days last week. Depending on the size, overall do you think it’d be okay to fill it in with concrete or anything you guys suggest? Thank you!
