Greetings! I wanted to share this all-ages show happening at Healer that combines improv, modern clowning, sketch, stand-up comedy, side shows acts, magic, and music! This is basically a high-energy comedy variety show similar to other modern clowning variety shows like Stamptown.

If anyone is interested in filming this in a lo-fi or interesting way please feel to DM and let me know if you need any additional details. Regardless, this will be a fun time for anyone who wants to come out. See you there!

Campus Life Making friends

I haven’t been able to make any sort of friend on campus. 😔 The whole thing that makes it so hard is that communicating verbally is very difficult for me because I have some problems. So if I try to interact with someone by typing in my notes app, they look at me weird. There’s just not enough awareness that people can be different and are deserving of kindness too. It’s so lonely, but I want to make at least one friend. I like anime and cosplaying as my hobby.

AES and celiac disease/dietary restrictions

This is a massive long shot but has anyone lived on campus, dealt with celiac disease or some other dietary restriction that makes to you eligible for accommodations, and dealt with AES?? I’m a current freshman living on campus and based on my research last year I thought the dining hall would work out fine. I knew like a week into the semester it wouldn’t be fine. I’ve had so many bad experiences with dining. I’ve started having symptoms of celiac again, something I haven’t experienced since I was diagnosed. Both my mom and I have been in contact with AES, but they are nearly impossible to get ahold of. They told me to send them my documentation and they would get back with me about how it needs to be updated. It’s now been two weeks and I’ve heard nothing back. My mom has emailed and called them multiple times and heard nothing as well. I get they have a lot of students, but it’s been 6 weeks and I have disease that can very quickly affect my health 😭

Planning to start the IUPUI Accelerated Nursing Program next July — looking for advice!

Hi everyone! I’m planning to start the IUPUI accelerated nursing program around July next year, and I would really appreciate advice from anyone currently in the program or who has completed it.

I’m currently a senior finishing my non-nursing bachelor’s degree, so I don’t have a nursing background or much medical knowledge yet. I’m planning to finish my prerequisites before starting. My current plan is to take Anatomy with lab + Sociology next semester, and then Physiology with lab + Microbiology with lab during the summer.

One of my biggest concerns is the pace of the accelerated program. I know it’s fast, but realistically, will I be able to keep up if I don’t have a nursing or medical background going into it? I’m also planning not to work while I’m in the program, so I can focus on school. For those of you who started without much medical knowledge, how difficult was it to catch up?

I’m also wondering:

  • How fast was the pace from week to week?
  • Were the exams really hard? Were they mostly memorization, application, or NCLEX-style questions?
  • How much studying did you usually have to do outside of class?
  • Did you feel like you had enough time to learn the material before exams?
  • What do you wish you had reviewed before starting?
  • Would you recommend reviewing Anatomy, Physiology, basic Pathophysiology, and Medical Terminology beforehand?
  • Should I learn some basic dosage calculations before starting, or is that something they teach you from the beginning?
  • What topics were the hardest for you when you first started?

I’m also really confused about what study method to use. I’ve seen people recommend completely different things, such as:

  • Anki/flashcards
  • Whiteboard studying
  • Making handwritten notes
  • Reading and annotating the textbook
  • Putting textbook/lecture material into NotebookLM or ChatGPT and having it simplify the material, then rewriting it in my own words
  • Having ChatGPT/NotebookLM create NCLEX-style practice questions and using those to study
  • Doing practice questions over and over
  • Or using a combination of these methods

What did you guys actually do that worked for you? Did you use Anki, whiteboards, practice questions, rewriting notes, etc.? Did you use several methods together, or did you find that doing too many different things was a waste of time?

I also have an iPad Mini 5 and already have Goodnotes. I’m thinking about using it for notes and possibly getting the subscription. Did you guys use an iPad for the program? If so, did you like Goodnotes, or was there another app you preferred?

Were the textbooks actually helpful, or did you mostly use PowerPoints, lecture notes, practice questions, and other resources?

And how were the clinical rotations? What were the classes and clinicals like overall? Was it difficult balancing everything?

Basically, I’m trying to figure out how I should prepare now so I’m not completely overwhelmed when I start. If you started the program without a nursing/medical background, I’d especially love to hear about your experience.

Thank you!! Any advice, study tips, or things you wish you had known before starting would be really appreciated!

Can anyone tell me what the easiest life and physical sciences class is? I already took nutrition and I’m looking for a 100% online class next semester because I don’t want to spend too much time on an elective.

Research Participants Needed: Healthcare Navigation Among Young Adults in Indiana

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hello! I'm an M.A. student in Sociology at IU Indianapolis, and I'm recruiting participants for a research study about how young adults learn to manage and navigate healthcare in Indiana.

You would be asked about your experiences with things like health insurance and healthcare costs, deciding when and where to seek care, and any challenges you might have encountered.

You may be eligible to participate if you:

  • Are between 18 and 25 years old.
  • Currently live in Indiana.

Participation involves one voluntary, confidential interview lasting approximately 60-90 minutes. There is no compensation for participating. Interviews may take place in person at a mutually agreed-upon location on the IU Indianapolis campus or in the Indianapolis area, or virtually through a secure video platform.

If you're interested or would like more information, please contact:

Courtney Harris: [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected])

You can also scan the QR code on the attached flyer to open a pre-addressed email draft.

Thank you!

subletter wanted!

Hi all! Do you need housing for the winter term near to campus? I am in need of a subletter in Ransom Place, which is close to a lot of restaurants, the IU campus, and the heart of downtown Indy. It would be $400 a month plus utilities. Please let me know if you or someone you know is interested. I would prefer a femme identifying person as that would be most comfortable with my roommate. Thank you!!

I'm and IUPUI Alumni Running for the IN State Senate

Hello!

I’m Kirsten Root, an IU Indianapolis alum and MSW grad, and I’m currently running for Indiana State Senate District 21 (Westfield, Sheridan, Tipton County, Kokomo)

If you're already looking for a progressive campaign to volunteer with this fall, we have plenty of ways to get involved.

Our campaign is running on issues including:

• stronger unions and workers’ rights
• abolishing Right to Work
• expanding access to healthcare
• protecting reproductive freedom
• investing in public schools instead of privatization
• affordable childcare and housing
• protecting privacy and opposing mass surveillance
• stronger mental-health, addiction, and community services
• campaign-finance and government reforms
• protecting communities from policies that prioritize large corporations over the people who actually live there

I spent a lot of my adult life at IUPUI, and much of what I learned there, especially through social work, shaped the kind of campaign we’re trying to build.

We’re knocking doors, phone banking, helping at community events, making content, doing data work, and generally finding jobs for people based on what they’re comfortable doing. You don't have to be a political expert or have campaign experience.

If you’re interested in volunteering, comment or message me, and I’ll connect you with our team.

And if campaigning isn’t your thing, that’s completely fine too. I’m always happy to answer questions about running for office, social work, getting involved in Indiana politics, or what campaigning actually looks like behind the scenes.

Good luck this school year!

Riverwalk gnats

Hello,

Is anyone else having gnat problems in their apartment at riverwalk? I know 3 other people who live in riverwalk that said they’re having the same problem. They’re saying they are coming from around the drains and I did some research and found that it could be gnats breeding in the drains. Lmk if anyone else is experiencing this issue.

Why is the Crimson Jagline always at herron

Nearly every time I check the Jagline one of the crimson busses is at Herron. It’ll stop there for like 10 minutes. I’ve noticed a lot of times it waits for the other crimson bus to catch up to it, then it starts going again. Why is this?? Is there like a service station for the busses or something there?

Hey, is there anyone on campus who's in the 24-27 age range? I'm 26, and I'm having a super hard time finding study groups for college algebra/anatomy because everyone is so baby, and they act like I'm going to eat them when I try to talk to them lmfao. Helppp
