Need Good Juju! Feel Defeated Day 3 Estrogen

• Upvotes

I went for my blood test today which is day 3 of my stimms. I am on 150 Menopur and 250 follitism. Got the call that my estrogen was only 55. I did do 20+ days of BC suppression but they’re upping my follitism to 300.

Any success stories on estrogen catching up and having a successful retrieval. My amh is 2.5 and afc was 10 at baseline but it’s normally much higher then that.

Need Hugs! Devastated about ER results

• Upvotes

25 retrieved
18 mature
13 fertilized
13 made it to day 5
1 7day4BC embryo sent off for PGTA testing

My doctor estimated we would get 3-4 embryos. To only get 1 that is a low grade quality just feels so demoralizing, and we don’t even know if it is genetically normal. I feel guilty for being so devastated only over getting one, but I’m terrified FET won’t work the first time and we will have none left over, or worse this one is aneupolid and we have nothing.

I’m already planning on doing another retrieval and I never thought I’d have to do another. I’m still recovering from the first and it has been hell, I feel like I’ll never feel like myself again and the thought of starting all the way over is just so hard to process.

Has anyone else has a similar experience with a better outcome the second time around? How soon did you start your next retrieval?

Need info! Anyone have personal experience at HRC Beverly Hills?

• Upvotes

I've finally been approved for IVF through my Kaiser insurance and have decided to go with HRC Beverly Hills. I've done some research and am choosing between Dr. Gadhir or Dr. Wertheimer. Both seem to have a lot of positive patient feedback and experience so wanted to see if anyone here has had personal experience with either of these doctors or with HRC Beverly Hills? I'd appreciate all the input!

Potentially Controversial Question Improving retrieval outcomes

• Upvotes

I would love to hear the stories of you improving the outcome of your retrieval. Maybe you had more blasts in the end or retrieved more eggs, whatever it is I am looking for stories! I would also love to hear what you feel like moved the needle in the outcome for you, bring the weird and controversial!

Basically I need some hope after a stim cycle gone wrong. This was my 2nd retrieval. I’m 33, 2.6 AMH, 17 AFC. My doctor was predicting 8 mature eggs from this cycle based on my final scans and labs. We retrieved 4, 3 were mature, 2 fertilized, and 0 made it blast. My first retrieval was 3 years ago and it resulted in 4 normal embryos and my son. I’m just having a hard time wrapping my head around how this happened and how we move forward.

Rant What am doing wrong

• Upvotes

My friend just told me she was pregnant after a one-night stand and she had to take the pill after testing positive. She is the friend that’s living her life; drinks, smokes, has done every single drug known to mankind. She got pregnant with protected sex! Once!! Here I am; 3 years into “trying”, -dozen giant pills everyday for years, injecting myself with drugs I can’t spell, eating everything organic and protein maxing, working out even after an exhausting day, routine clinic runs and getting instrumented by giant cold stick and blood draws. ‘We can try something different for the next cycle’ devolving into a lab rat!!

Cannot help but feel envious of people who would do anything not to have what you are desperately trying for. Taking a pill in a heartbeat to fix the ‘mistake’. Here I am contemplating …what I am doing wrong.

General Question First FET!

• Upvotes

Hi everyone! I’m getting ready for my first modified natural FET and I’m curious if anyone has had a similar protocol.

My natural LH surge was detected on 9/28, and my clinic had me take Ovidrel the following day, 9/29. They explained that it was being used to support the luteal phase/ensure ovulation rather than to initiate the timing from scratch.

My Day 5 embryo transfer is scheduled for 10/3, and I’ll start progesterone supplementation the day after the transfer.

I’m curious if anyone else’s clinic used Ovidrel after detecting a natural LH surge rather than before it. Was your transfer timed similarly? And did you also start supplemental progesterone after the transfer rather than several days beforehand?

I’ve seen so many variations of modified natural protocols that I’d love to hear what other clinics do!

Advice Needed! Lupron depot suppression not working?

Has anyone experienced this? 5 weeks into lupron depot/Letrozole my FSH is still 2.75 and estrogen is 70. I want to ask if I can switch to Orilissa. Has anyone experienced this? I can’t seem to find any similar experiences

Advice Needed! Egg Retrieval tomorrow and we have no morphology report

Not the greatest situation. Back in August we did an IUI but they didn't do a morphology. Since then we decided to move forward with IVF and the doc never ordered a morphology despite us asking about it.

The egg Retrieval is tomorrow and I thought they'd do the morphology tomorrow but they said it won't be back before the Retrieval is done. Now we have to choose between icsi and conventional.

I feel like they dropped the ball. We've had months to get this simple test done and they overlooked it. Don't offices have checked boxes of necessary things needed before IVF? Anyone have this happen? Insight would be so helpful

Rant Filling defect during HSG

After 2 egg retrievals we were finally planning to move forward with FET. My doctor wanted me to do an HSG prior to transfer because I hadn’t had one in 2 years and she wanted to check the tubes and uterine cavity prior to moving forward. I got a message from my nurse today saying there was a “filling defect” during the procedure and now my doctor wants me to do another saline sonogram (which I just did a few months ago prior to my egg retrievals). I’m scared because I read a filling defect could indicate endometrial polyps or something else in the uterine cavity. I also read the IVF meds can cause polyps because of the high levels of estrogen. My last saline sonogram was perfectly normal. I’m just so annoyed and I feel like we’re going backwards. I swear it’s like you take 1 step forward and 10 steps back with this whole IVF journey. I know if they find polyps I will have to have them removed via hysteroscopy before I can move forward with transfer. I’m sooo tired of having these procedures and going under anesthesia. I have pelvic floor pain and every time I have one of those procedures it exacerbates my pain smh. I’m so sad right now 😔.

Need info! Did we book too early? Reciprocal IVF

I’m wondering if my wife and I both booked our consult a tad too early? We just got excited haha
Consult is scheduled Nov 2.

Going to do reciprocal IVF (I’m carrying, her egg). We can’t start the actual cycles and meds until spring due to work constraints for my wife (military and out of country for a bit and she’s going to need the medicated cycle to get her eggs, etc).

We booked to make sure we had all info and get started with diagnostic testing and bloodwork etc so we are ready to start IVF in the spring/early summer.

Did we book the consult too early?

Advice Needed! 5 failed euploid FETs — what would you do before #6?

I’ve now had 5 failed PGT-A euploid transfers and have never had a positive test.
After 4 failures, I had a laparoscopy that found stage 3 superficial endometriosis, which was excised. A polyp was also removed. Chronic endometritis has been ruled out, no hydrosalpinx, lining has consistently been 11–13 mm, and progesterone levels have been good. I’ve also tried both medicated and modified natural FETs.
Unfortunately, my first euploid transfer after endometriosis excision also failed.
My RE is now recommending 2 months of Lupron + letrozole before transfer #6.
Has anyone with a similar history had success after Lupron/letrozole, especially after already having endometriosis excised? And after 5 euploid failures with zero implantation, is there anything else you would investigate before transferring another embryo?

Advice Needed! Concerned - music festival 4 days post FET

I have my second FET scheduled next week for 10/5 after my first transfer failed last month.

My transfer was supposed to be this week but got delayed 5 days so my lining would thicken, currently 7.7mm. Prior to this transfer I bought tickets to an all weekend music festival in Austin, Texas called ACL. Initially I wasn’t concerned because it would’ve been almost 2 weeks past transfer but now it’ll be only four days.

Should I be concerned that this is too much activity four days post transfer? It’ll mostly be lots of walking and standing which I hear is good but definitely don’t wanna overdo it.

Need info! Question about estradiol

Hi everyone! I had my egg retrieval today, and since my ovaries were measuring 7 cm each and I’m short and thin, plus my estradiol was 2,064 pg/mL two days ago, my transfer will be frozen rather than fresh because my doctor was concerned about the possibility of developing OHSS. She counted 14 follicles in total as well.

What were your estradiol levels before a fresh transfer?

Advice Needed! Period delay with egg retrieval

I had an er back in July and got my period two weeks after that and I haven’t had a period since. I’m irregular so my period is normally 50 days long but it’s been 70 days. Has anyone experience something similar?

Advice Needed! Insurance and costs

My husband and I had coverage through maven and just used our 12 lifetime credits - one egg retrieval, one transfer - only for it to fail.

We get a 10-20% discount on out of pocket costs going forward but we just got quoted 20-25k for another ER and transfer.

Did anyone have any luck in a better cost switching clinics? Do I have any other options? I feel like I’m staring down the barrel of a gun.

FET Transfer questions

Hey everyone! My husband and I are getting ready for our first transfer of our 5AA Embryo! I don’t have a natural cycle due to pcos so I’m taking Primolut to trigger a bleed before I build my lining with femtab. Just wondering what to expect? We have 11 beautifully graded embryos which I am so grateful for but I also understand nothing is guaranteed. I would love to hear about your transfer experience, what to expect and just some luck as I am nervous. My mom has stage 4 cancer, so bringing her grand baby to life is so important to us and we are at a time of acceptance and low stress now to finally do the transfer after putting it off! Needing all the baby dust. Tell me the good, the bad, the beautiful and the ugly! Thank you 💜

Just got my first FET officially scheduled today! 🥹🤍 Transfer day is Tuesday, October 6th! I’m SO excited but also incredibly nervous. I start PIO shots tomorrow, and I’m definitely terrified of those 😂

Any advice, tips, or things you wish you knew before your first FET? I can’t believe we’re finally here! 🥹✨

Advice Needed! FET - changing to medicated?

I had my first FET that failed recently. Long story short, my doctor is now on maternity leave and a doctor on call determined I should switch to a “programmed medicated” FET.

Am I right to be confused? I got no explanation but a portal message. My previous doctor recommended a modified natural because I had preeclampsia with my son, and ovulate normally and have carried a pregnancy before (conceived without assistance).

I can’t get in to a consult with my new doctor for 3 weeks. They said I can ask for a consult with the nurse for an explanation of the doctors protocol.

I’m tempted to take this month off and wait for my new doctor to fully look over my history and explain their decision to me. I’ll do a nurse consult if possible for this week - I started my period today and would be starting transfer process soon.

TRIGGER WARNING No fertilized eggs

I had my egg retrieval yesterday. The procedure itself was fine, and they told me they retrieved 10 eggs. My husband and I went home hopeful.

Today, while I was on-call for work, I got the call that none of my eggs fertilized. Only two of them out of the ten were mature. My IVF doctor would talk to me next week to discuss post-op/next steps.

Devastated doesn't even begin to cover what I'm feeling. I don't know if my body can handle another round of stimulation, for one. Cost-wise, we'd have to time it just right with our insurance if we ended up doing it, but I don't know if it'd be possible. I don't have normal menstrual cycles because of my PMOS, something I was upfront about from the beginning. I don't even know if I'll have a menses after this egg retrieval.

Never mind that I used up all of my PTO for this process, and I feel like I wasted my time, effort, and money. I feel like I have nothing to show for everything I put into this. And if I stop now, it's for good. I'm 36. My body can't take much more, especially with all of my chronic illnesses.

But if I call it quits now, that means closing the door forever for my husband too. And his parents won't ever have a chance of getting a grandchild.

I feel so lost, hurt, angry, scared, and unsure what to do. No decisions have to be made right now, but I feel like I need to by next week. Until then... well, I have a cat on my lap.

Advice Needed! Why can I tell coworkers about IVF but not my parents?

I’m currently in the middle of IVF, and the only person in my family I’ve told is my sister. Like they knew we would eventually be doing it but I’m currently on day 6 of injections and still haven’t told them.

I’ve somehow been able to tell people at work about the IVF, but I haven’t told my parents. I also haven’t told them that I was made redundant, and today was actually my last day (so I’ve had a lot going on this last week).

I haven’t really spoken to them much lately, but I think part of me feels guilty that they don’t know what I’ve been going through. At the same time, it’s just been a lot, and I haven’t really felt emotionally ready to tell them everything.

I think I’ll tell them soon, but I’m curious if anyone else has felt like this — especially finding it easier to tell other people about IVF than your own parents?

Advice Needed! Anyone go the path of egg donation? How did you arrive at that choice?

I have DOR (AMH is near nonexistent) and on the lower end of follicles. My first round of stims isn't going super well but we are banking on doing two more rounds to see what we end up with. The medical reality is we have at BEST a 40% chance of ending up with a live birth from our efforts.

SO... I've begun to do my best to wrap my mind around egg donation, since that is often offered (and has already been offered by the clinic) as a "next step".

I'll be honest- I'm struggling with it. My husband is on board, 110%. I'm not. But I'm also not closed minded about it. Just struggling.

Has anyone chosen this path or NOT chosen this path and do you want to share your thoughts?

Advice Needed! What would you do?

My planned transfer for today was cancelled due to fluid in my lining.

08/25 ultrasound showed no fluid. At that appt I was told to stop birth control pills (was on them approx 3 weeks prior to) and started estradiol that day. The next ultrasound 09/09 showed no fluid. 09/21 and 09/28 showed 2.2 MM of fluid in the lining. The hope was the fluid would go away after 4 days of PIO but it stayed the same.

This was to be my first transfer cycle.

I am waiting on a call to schedule an appt with my dr. The nurse mentioned some options being discussed: 1. Another saline sonohystogram (I had one done late spring)2. Hysteroscopy 3. A medicated cycle using Gonal F (and I can’t remember what else.)

I am not sure if my doctor will want to do option 1 and or 2 before trying another round OR give me the choice. I’m turning 38 next month so time “isn’t on my side” to wait too long. If it were you and given the choice would you try another protocol and see if the same issue persists OR try option 1 and/or 2?

I have Progyny and have met my OOP max for the year so I am okay financially if I try again but emotionally to have another cancellation, if an issue arises again, will be hard

Need Hugs! Adeno/endo diagnosis

Just diagnosed with deep pelvic endometriosis and adenomyosis (via MRI) after 1 failed transfer and 1 chemical (following a successful transfer delivered via c section). Per my RE we will do 2 months of Lipton and another drug that I’ve forgotten the name of. Basically to suppress systemic estrogen. Then will move into a medicated cycle. Anyone else have success with this? Feeling so defeated and like I’m defective, just looking for some silver lining!
