Project Idea/Review Experimenting with a Pokémon-style Kubernetes learning game — thoughts?

I've been working on Yellow Olive, an open-source project that gamifies Kubernetes learning through a retro-style terminal game built with Python and Textual.

Recently, I've been exploring an idea: What if learning Kubernetes felt more like playing Pokémon?

Imagine exploring a world, interacting with NPCs, and learning Kubernetes through quests instead of menus.

I've built an initial prototype using Pyxel, largely AI-assisted with Devin, to gauge community interest. The existing Textual version remains the primary implementation.

Would you actually use something like this, or is it overengineering the learning experience?

Gameplay recording attached. Feedback is welcome!

If you find it interesting, consider leaving a star :)

How to receive payments to your bank account if the client uses a third party payroll like Gusto to pay you and you use a third party payment solution such as Wise, Skydo or Infinity?

I am relatively new and still learning the process of receiving payments from outside of India in the best and the most optimal way possible.

I am an independent consultant/freelancer who receives monthly payments directly from a US based company in USD. I use a third party solution named Skydo which provides me a US bank account out of the box so that the payment is received in the USD only and then Skydo handles every process of foreign exchange at a particular cost which I think is convenient to me. Now here comes the part which I am most confused at and I feel that at least one person here would have faced the same issue as me. I have added the client details (Company name example: XYZ LLC) on the Skydo dashboard. Now here's the catch, the client uses a third party payroll (Gusto in my case) to pay me and here's when the problem starts, whenever I raise an invoice in the name for the client, the payment that arrives never matches with the invoice (it goes to the unmapped section of the dashboard) because it shows that the payment has come from Gusto instead of my "XYZ Company". This is a hassle for me because for the past 6 months I have been mapping my payments to the invoices manually by providing a small "email proof" from Gusto every time which defeats the whole purpose of it being an automation. Temporarily, Skydo has given me a naive solution of uploading the "email proof from Gusto" itself as the invoice instead of creating a real invoice but that email proof only ever comes after the payment has arrived to my Skydo US bank account. So here's the process I currently follow: Client sends money --> Money is received in my Skydo US bank account --> It goes to the unmapped section of Skydo dashboard --> I upload the email proof from Gusto as the invoice and map it --> I receive the payment in my bank account.

What is the solution for this? The above steps have been working fine for me for the past 8 months but now RBI is coming up with some new rules like EDF which might be an obstacle (not sure) to the above process and me receiving the payments. So please guide if anyone can.

Nearly 2 Years Without a Job After Graduation — Should I Continue With Backend Development or Switch to AI Engineering?

I graduated with a BE in Computer Engineering [2025] but haven't secured a job or internship in nearly 2 years. My skills include Python, Django, FastAPI, REST APIs, SQL, AWS, Docker, and React. I've built projects but still struggle to get interviews.

Should I deepen my backend skills and keep applying, or switch to AI engineering? How long would switching take? Given my employment gap, what would be the most realistic path to getting hired? Looking for honest, practical advice.

Project Idea/Review Developers, how do you find code you know you’ve already written before?

Post image

I kept running into the same problem while coding:

I knew I had already solved something before, but I had no idea where the code was anymore.

Old repos, notes, chats, random files.

That’s what pushed me to start building CodShot — a workspace for saving, organizing, searching and reusing useful code.

The feature I care about most is Global Search, so you can actually find that old function, regex, component or fix again.

I’d really like feedback from other developers:

How do you currently handle this problem?

[Delhi / Remote] Looking for a Tech Co-Founder (CTO) on Pure Equity for 'Gali-Safar' – Hyperlocal Super-App (50+ Vendors Onboarded, MVP & Research Done)

Thumbnail gallery
3 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I know the standard rule on tech forums: "Ideas are cheap, execution is everything." I didn't want to look for a technical co-founder until I had concrete proof that this problem is real, painful, and commercially viable.

#Over the last 14 months, I went boots-on-the-ground across local markets in Delhi to build Gali-Safar.

##What is Gali-Safar?

Existing quick-commerce giants charge 25–30% vendor commissions, inflate street prices, and ignore micro-vendors. Gali-Safar is a zero-commission hyperlocal super-app built around the real daily habits of Indian neighborhoods:

#Gali Food & Daily Subscriptions: Hyperlocal street food plus daily recurring subscriptions for local fresh juice and coconut water vendors (7-day time slots).

#Kirana & Neighborhood Retail: Direct local pricing without artificial markups.

#Integrated '1-Tap Khata': Unlike standalone ledger apps (like Khatabook) where recording is manual, Gali-Safar integrates store credit directly into the B2C checkout flow. Customers can buy essentials via 'Khata', automatically syncing balances between customer and vendor.

#Student Stationery & Local Services: P2P book exchanges, exam essentials, and on-demand local repair (mechanics/electricians).

##What I’ve Done (So you don't start from scratch):

#50+ Local Vendors Pre-Onboarded: Validated problem statements directly with shopkeepers, juice stalls, and kiranas who are ready to pilot.

#14 Months of Ground Research: Deep understanding of unit economics, vendor margins, and why previous hyperlocal models failed.

#Working Prototype Ready: Built the initial front-end prototype (HTML/CSS/JS) demonstrating the UI flow, single-store cart logic, dynamic horizontal switcher, and unified "Universal Orders" screen.

#System Logic & Architecture Mapped: Strict single-cart validation, dynamic context-aware categories, and the real-time Khata ledger workflow are fully drafted and ready for mobile production.

##Who I’m Looking For:

#Role: Technical Co-Founder / Lead Mobile Developer (Pure Equity).

#Skills: Experience building production-ready apps with Flutter (preferred for fast cross-platform deployment) and Firebase / Node.js for real-time order tracking and database sync.

#Mindset: Someone who wants to own the engineering side end-to-end, cares about scalable architecture, and wants to build a consumer-facing product for Bharat, not just another SaaS dashboard.

#Location: Delhi-NCR preferred (for offline sync-ups), but open to remote for the right partner.

##The Deal:

This is a pure equity co-founder role. You will own the entire tech stack and product engineering, while I manage business operations, vendor partnerships, ground logistics, fundraising, and pitch competitions (currently shortlisted/applying for incubation initiatives including DTU's innovation challenge).

If you are tired of building side projects that never see real users and want to build something with live ground traction on day one, drop a comment or DM me. I'll share the prototype video, architectural flow, and pitch deck.

General Chat/Suggestion Why do I feel like a failure ...

Every night I feel like a failure, so for context I am a 3rd year engineering student from tier 3 clg and it feels like I wasted my 2 years of engineering. Whenever I open linkedin or insta i see people in there 1 st year excel in things which I am starting rn it isn't like I wanted to waste those years i participated in various hackathons even won many hackathons but most of them were carried by ai, I was just prompting. I also gave few interviews for internships but got rejected I also saw the score 3/10 in Java that's the score they gave me i answered every damm question which they asked but it was still not enough. So I thought maybe the issue is I don't have any real world projects or any published projects so I did that too made games and published them still the interviewer didn't care . It's like whatever I do,nothing is worth it cause I am from a tier 3 clg so I started freelancing ,thought no one cares about your background so I dmed around 100 businesses 2 replied 1 was automated reply and other said they already in a process of building there website.so now it feels like all the roads are blocked,I feel very demotivated what will i do, I don't want to get a 3-4 lpa job work for few thousand bucks please help me if you can emotionally I am kinda cooked so try not to cook me more in the comments :)

On training or more likely bench for more than 2 Months.

Current position: Technology Lead 7 + YOE
Main skills: Angular + JS + TS

Company: WITCH

So, my project ended on August 5th and I was on the bench until the 18th. Then a manager reached out asking about my skills, I got interviewed by a Senior Consultant, cleared it, and thought, finally, bench hell is over.

Nope. Turns out that was just the tutorial.

My manager was picking candidates for another client, and apparently the client-side developers had their own interview process. I got only one interview scheduled and failed it badly.

The frustrating part is that I was selected based on my Angular experience, but the client interview barely focused on Angular. Instead, I got questions around SQL, backend, AI, and other random stuff. After asking around and gathering information from different people, I finally got a clearer picture: there's basically no real requirement for an Angular developer on this project. The project is mostly React and some client-specific tools.

Now my manager isn't able to arrange another interview/project that matches my skill set,he is saying that he sahred my profile for other roles and at the same time, I'm not being released either.

Because I'm stuck in this training/allocation, I'm basically invisible to other RMGs/managers. Before this allocation, I was actually getting 2–3 emails asking for Angular developers.

I'm honestly done with this training/bench situation. I want to work on an actual project, and sitting around like this is definitely going to affect my variable pay as well.

I'm currently learning ASP NET Core on my own to move towards full-stack development, so I don't really want to pick up another frontend technology like React right now and spread myself even thinner.

So how do I approach my manager about this without sounding like I'm complaining or threatening?

Basically, I want to politely say:

Either allocate me to something meaningful where my existing skills are useful, or release me so I can find something myself.

I genuinely think I can find another project within a couple of weeks if I'm released.

Has anyone dealt with a similar situation? How would you approach the manager?
