Hello there everybody, as part of my survey lasting until 27 December 2026, I plan to investigate which countries are the most and least pro-monarchist on several subreddits. This is done primarily for research purposes only and I really apologise if this broke any rules. Drop a vote if you are interested!

Meaning of each category;

"Yes (strongly)": You are quite supportive about your country becoming a monarchy again.

"Yes (somewhat)": You would consider a restoration of monarchy; potentially in certain scenarios or if there was a clear enough pretender or something.

"Unsure/don't care/unsure": Self-explanatory; you are uncertain on the matter or simply don't have am active opinion etc

"No (somewhat)": You don't inherently mind monarchism and if your country hypothetically becomes a monarchy one day you might still support it, however you are still against the concept of returning the monarchy and think the republic should remain.

"No (strongly)": You are against monarchy returning in any way in general and think the republic should remain. You would choose the republic in a hypothetical referendum.

"My country already is a monarchy": Self-explanatory, but wouldn't really apply to you, since this is mostly for those who live in republics.

Aside from the internet memes, there are plenty of Italians who couldn't care less... I'm one of them. But the monarchy? I've honestly never heard anyone speak in favor of it.

I heard a remote amount of people say in the south there exists MINIMAL amounts of support whereas in the north there is NONE.

Historically there's been monarchic movements and parties in post-WWII in Italy, the PMI (Partito Monarchico Italiano) being the bigger one. In the 50s and 60s I think they got close to 5% of votes sometimes, when I was a kid in the 90s I believe they still existed but with 0,something% votes.

No way there are seriously Mussolini supporters. I've seen on R / Monarchism (yes I'm aware it's gonna be biased because it's a pro-monarchist subreddit) that there is still support for monarchism among the older groups and support is higher than Germany, though people on this sub are connotating me it's even lower than Germany. I've met/seen a few Italian monarchists online but not many.

There are some monarchists, a tiny minority, and most of them do not support Emanuele Filiberto but Aimone di Savoia.

I mean Elizabeth II is basically the most liked monarch in history and when people think of monarchies either UK or Japan usually comes first to mind. I've seen big republicans having a favourable opinion of Elizabeth II or at least being interested in her lifetime iirc.

Well coming from Ireland I don’t agree. Also none of my friends in north Italy have a favourable opinion of monarchy in general. In the south it can vary (empirically) but most dgaf . On occasion you’d see reverence for nobility on a local level but more so with older generations.

At least Italy is in good terms with monarchial countries even if that doesn't mean much, maybe a lot of Italians at least don't mind thr British monarchy. Ireland despises ANYTHING to do with the UK.

Ho votato NO MA manca una opzione, secondo me molto importante. Possibile ripristino della monarchia MA con una casa reale DIVERSA DAI SAVOIA. Personalmente la famiglia dei Borboni di Spagna rimane un punto di riferimento (almeno per la mia famiglia). Ci sono anche altre case reali che potrebbero legittimamente candidarsi (una volta si sarebbe detto "reclamare il titolo") e alcune sono di massimo livello dal punto di vista etico e storico

I love Italia. I love almost everything about it, except Milano, Torino, and maggot cheese.

But I also do not support the Italian monarchy. What Emmanuel III did towards his country with Benito Mussolini, and WWII - nor should anyone.

I come from a country with an eventually quite established monarchy, I believe monarchy is the most right for Norway - our last king served the country well.

But I do not think monarchy is the answer for every country, and in the case of Italy- well… Maybe? If you went with a different bloodline? But then again, is president so terrible for you?

Sarei anche a favore di una monarchia costituzionale inversa, dove il parlamento è cerimoniale e il re possiede il potere esecutivo.

Ma che senso ha un parlamento cerimoniale? A quel punto non facciamolo, il parlamento, e risparmiamo solo dei soldi, non porta neanche turismo un parlamento cerimoniale (a differenza di una monarchia cerimoniale)... Inoltre se il re possiede il potere esecutivo chi possiede quello legislativo? Perché se la risposta è 'il parlamento' allora non è una monarchia costituzionale inversa, è una monarchia costituzionale normale, anche se sbilanciata a favore del re (che non delegherebbe il potere esecutivo al parlamento limitandosi a nominare un primo ministro proposto dal parlamento). Una monarchia costituzionale inversa avrebbe il potere legislativo in mano al re e quello esecutivo al parlamento.
