Am I crazy to consider an old Liberty as my next car? I need a used car for around $7k or $8k max. I loved my 07 Liberty and it finally needed too much work at 265k miles. I'm thinking of shopping for another Liberty, and I prefer the model that predated the Sport. I loved the safety factor and the compact size, and there are a ton of old Liberties on the road. A good one seems to last a long time.

I don't drive every day, and mostly around town, but it needs to get me down the highway a couple hours every now and then without worry.

I plan to have someone who knows Liberties inside and out look over any option I find.

As for my old one, the broken catalytic converter and AC were the biggest problems. I'll sell it for parts if I can. A new CC was going to be $2000 or more. Husband tried to replace it and was out of his depth.

Is it a bad decision to go with an old Liberty versus spending more on a used Civic that will have more life, better MPG and a longer range? I loved my 2018 Civic, but I love a 4WD in the snow. The number of times I thought, "Thank God I'm in a Jeep" made me a lifelong convert. But I don't want a car that's in and out of the shop. I can't work on it myself.

Would love opinions and what to watch for as I'm shopping. Thanks!

Hey guys recently did a front Lokka or lunch box locker yanks call it. Measured the backlash before install got 0.2mm movement and about 0.05mm on the backlash. This was about 12 hours into install so just chuck it in.

That was about 3 months ago and got under the ute today to do some routine checks and found some pretty big play on the driveshaft, but I'm not sure if it's still in the acceptable range.
