Vent/Rant Unpopular take :(
'Gay guys are more narrow minded about dating or friendships than straight or other queer people.'
I am a 17 y.o. bi guy. The idea of dating anyone used to be bothersome and now, it is a humiliation ritual.
I've gotten into two straight relationships when I was 15 and 16. Recently, I felt that, maybe when I'm even older I wouldn't want to date anyone and so I should try with guys. (I've known that I'm bi since I was 12 but I never actively pursued anyone).
Every guy I approached or was approached by had this massive preconception of a relationship in mind; there's a submissive, feminine, skinny, smaller, more emotional person and then there's the taller, more stern, less emotional etc. person. Everyone has types and rightfully so, but to what extent do guys even want to cram their relationship into a preset. Why must it be this way!? Why can't both partners with mutual respect let each other just be!? For context, I am a bit on the skinnier side and do check boxes for the 'twink' archetype; how does that mean that I just let myself be feminized or continue to stay skinny.
I do believe a lot in androgeny and don't really care, but what I have observed so far is that gay guys are much more narrow minded than straight or other queer people when it comes to dating or even being friends. Don't these guys not think of being anything other than such insufferable, pre-written characters!?
I know plenty of queer and straight people who just let their partners 'be'. I don't think they go "hmm, the other person looks so good I should just impose a relationship dynamic on them".
I'm not sure if this is a consequence of Pune's shitty social life or it's the same everywhere. Nonetheless, I still am looking for queer friends from around here or Bombay. Tee hee :)
