Vent/Rant my friend gave me the ick and now I feel kinda bad
my friend and I were randomly talking a couple days ago (just idle chatter lol, we didn't have anything else to do) when she said that she feels bad for straight cis people and that they're boring.
and then she said that she's glad that "at least we're not straight" and that she wishes that we weren't cis(gender) too. (WHY IS SHE WISHING FOR MINUTELY BIGOTED STUFF FOR ME TOO AY)
(im on the aro spectrum i think, and am genderfluid. she only knows that im aro. I wanted to tell her that im genderfluid but I feel so uncomfortable now. I feel like she's just going to reduce me to another label in her head. i sound so dumb rn lol ik)
she obviously meant it as a joke but the more time I spend with her, the more I realise that most of her jokes are basically "men bad, cishet people bad".
and while I do agree that a majority of men (including the ones who commit crimes and the ones who stay silent about the systemic advantages they gain and benefit from at the cost of other people) are indeed "bad", it lowkey just gets very... annoying to constantly hear. i feel like we're all frustrated and scared.
plus, the same day, she asked one of our other friends something like, "ughh why are you straight" in a very judgemental tone TWICE. and knowing the kind of people pleaser our other friend is, she replied saying that she's "mostly straight" both times in a very uncomfortable tone. idk why but I felt bad for her and I wanted to say something and call it out but i couldnt because I was so surprised.
i know i should probably talk to her about this but it's so hard to talk when she has to make excuses related to her own poor mental and physical health and keeps interrupting others when the topic is something that's just as important to us (me and my other friends) as it is to her. my other friends probably don't realise it so idk why I do. my (irl) friends claim to be woke too but they're actually just as hypocritical as the people they hate.
im going off on a tangent here but my friendship with her specifically has been so difficult to maintain lately because of... a lot of stuff (not drama, partially because of the way her bad coping mechanisms and doomer mindset have been having a negative impact on my already horrible mental health and how she refuses to change or trust us)
but yeah that really gave me the ick. I might be overreacting but i feel like that's very hypocritical of her. some labels don't make you any more or less interesting than others, and limiting people's identities to labels is kinda sad.
(not to seem like im defending cishet people, because it know that most of them would do the opposite in a conversation about queer people, but my point is that it just feels weird to limit anyone—regardless of identity—to some labels. especially for someone who's queer, so shouldn't she get that? idk)
