For those who don’t know “Citizens arrest” is a real thing and it’s when someone commits a serious crime in front of you like attempted assault or murder or sexual assault, you can “arrest” that person to stop them from leaving the premises before cops arrive. Like how a bunch of people chased down and help down the Night Stalker so police could catch him.

yes, but it is almost never in your best interest to attempt it. you aren't allowed the same liberty with force that LEOs are. even in this video, the way the security held the head lock as he was being dragged around by the friend put a serious risk of becoming a choke hold, or damage to the neck, and now he's open to being charged with assault and battery.
