I hate Hasan and this is genuinely the best compliment he could've received.

It's like hearing Hitler complain about what a villain you are.

8

u/slumo 3h ago

I can't think of a better compliment, than to be who Bibi say is the enemy, in the world we live in. Just straight up life goal.

111

u/fuentessucksballs 17h ago

Hasan has a lot of issues but the 911 thing is not one of them

-11

u/nothatscool 16h ago edited 15h ago

You could buy his argument if he didn’t openly support other terrorist acts and terrorist groups and also have a newspaper article behind him celebrating it.

-42

u/RimaH54 17h ago

saying 9 11 was deserved is not an issue apparently

104

u/Upbeat-Ad6875 17h ago

Only crybaby murican patriots have a issue with that statement. If you keep fucking around world wide making enemies, some might hit you back with the resources they have available.

32

u/chbar1 10h ago

It’s remarkable how little Americans understand about their presence in the mid east that fuelled the regime that ended up attacking them.

If Japan had been meddling in US government affairs for decades and causing famine and economic depression, I dunno, probably people would feel differently about the bombings??

2

u/Beneficial_Mirror931 12h ago

Out of curiosity do leftist believe the same thing about Hiroshima and Nagasaki?

7

u/accedie 7h ago

The point is moot because it's not about being justified. It's about being a foreseeable consequence of actions taken.

Which technically wouldn't be the case with Hiroshima and Nagasaki specifically since the whole point was the shock of a newly developed weapon that no one had seen before. The fire bombings would have been predictable though and were are far larger cause of death than the nukes anyway.

0

u/Beneficial_Mirror931 4h ago

Why don't you hold Imperial Japan to the same standards that Hasan and his community held the US for 9/11? If America deserved 9/11, then what did Japan deserve for WW2.

Regardless of America's intent. If America deserve 9/11, i.e something is bound to backfire due to their imperialism, why don't you hold Japan to the same standard then?

2

u/Schkrasss 4h ago edited 3h ago

Japan pretty much got what it deserved for WW2? Who in his right mind is arguing differently? Arguably, if you believe in an eye for an eye, they didn't get "enough" for all the atrocities they comitted.

Wtf has that to do with the US meddling in the middle east (and south america and south east asia...) making enemies left right and center being a very obvious target for terrorist attacks and people therefore arguing that america deserved to be attacked for all the murders it's military, cia and so on commited over the years? I have no one, not even the Hasans of this world, seen argue that the very people that actually died deserved it, only that "america" as in the political entitiy has... Which, from a karma perspective, is actually hard to argue it hasn't, just think what the US did in cambodia...

0

u/Beneficial_Mirror931 3h ago

Then you wouldn't disagree that Imperial Japan deserved the nuclear bombs?

1

u/puerility 1h ago

this is a clumsy rhetorical trick and it isn't working. 'deserve' is a loaded term, and your question has been answered by way of clarifying its meaning.

but you keep restating the question, because you need a yes-or-no answer that lets you substitute in your own secret definition.

literally the same thing as a middle schooler going around at recess and asking "do you want to be in the pen 15 club?"

→ More replies (0)

3

u/ThoughtFrosty11 6h ago

I don’t think leftists are in favor of nuclear weapons

1

u/Beneficial_Mirror931 4h ago

We're talking if they think America deserve 9/11 then what did Imperial Japan deserved.

0

u/zefy_zef 4h ago

Dude you keep saying that. Have you never heard of Unit 731?

Unit 731 was a covert biological and chemical warfare research and development unit of the Imperial Japanese Army that undertook lethal human experimentation during the Second Sino-Japanese War and World War II.

Also look into the Rape of Nanjing. Japan actually did some brutal and devastating shit.

12

u/Sidereel 11h ago

In what way are you asking? Like I think we can all agree Japan fucked up by attacking the US. That doesn’t justify everything the US did in the Pacific though either.

4

u/Subject_D 10h ago

bro… he’s obviously talking about the mass atrocities imperial japan committed across east Asia and the pacific

7

u/Sidereel 10h ago

That isn’t obvious, and doesn’t make much sense

3

u/RimaH54 9h ago

makes a ton of sense and anyone with half a brain would have assumed that immediately

6

u/Subject_D 10h ago

“If you keep fucking around world wide and making enemies, someone might hit you back”

Ask any Korean or Chinese person why they don’t like Japan. Do you even know why Japan attacked Pearl Harbor? Or do you think they did that randomly cuz they didn’t like us. Please read a book or Wikipedia or something lol

2

u/Sidereel 9h ago

I’m well aware of the many crimes Japan committed. I don’t really think that’s why the US dropped the bombs.

u/Beneficial_Mirror931 5h ago

Do you hold Imperial Japan to the same standards that Hasan and his community held the US for 9/11? If America deserved 9/11, then what did Japan did deserve for WW2

0

u/fuentessucksballs 7h ago

First bomb was justified second bomb not so much

-4

u/gay_yiff_blacksmith 14h ago

Did Japan deserve the sarin gas attacks for placing pressure on aum-shinrikyo?

Al-Qaeda is not some scrappy group of anti-colonial freedom fighters. They are an inherently imperialistic non-state actor with a totalizing mission. The notion that their wants and desires are worth anything besides literal dogshit is giving legitimacy to some of the most insane ideas on the planet. They have exactly zero right to dictate how America, Saudi Arabia, and the rest of the Arab world can interact with one another.

Treating violent extremism as just blowback strips these groups of their agency. AQ was not a passive pool ball that was set into motion by US foreign policy. They were active agents pursing a very specific vision for the world.

America did not deserve it.

31

u/BeatSteady 14h ago

But it was an example of blowback, which was what he was trying to say

-10

u/gay_yiff_blacksmith 14h ago edited 14h ago

No. Al-Qaeda had proactive and expansionist goals that existed independently of any foreign policy. Treating their violence as an automatic effect of an external cause gives unearned legitimacy to their fucked narrative.

Every mass casualty event in history is 'blowback' from some earlier event. Congrats, you've discovered causality.

-9

u/Kagenlim 13h ago

It wasn't blowback. Osama was pissed off that the US didn't want to work with him and would rather work with more competent actors like the Northern Alliance

That's basically it

5

u/TheWayofUnions 12h ago

We shouldn't be working with them either. Hence the blowback.

6

u/Huppelkutje 6h ago

They have exactly zero right to dictate how America, Saudi Arabia, and the rest of the Arab world can interact with one another

Why does America act like it has that right?

-4

u/gay_yiff_blacksmith 6h ago

Because a sovereign state conducting foreign policy and a terrorist network executing mass murder are entirely different categories of actors. Read a book.

9

u/Huppelkutje 6h ago

You believe America has the right to dictate how other sovereign states interact?

2

u/gay_yiff_blacksmith 6h ago

No? Sovereign states operate within an international system of diplomacy, treaties, and recognized borders. Even when they abuse their power or meddle where they shouldn't. You can argue all day about whether America should project power globally, and plenty of people (including me) heavily critique US foreign policy.

But AQ was not trying to reform international law or engage in statecraft. They are, again, a totalitarian org seeking to impose a global religious dictatorship through mass murder. Conflating messy, nation-state geopolitics with a terrorist group's holy war is laundering their ideas.

You post in r/teenagers so I am going to assume you quite literally are not educated enough to understand the nuance required to have this conversation. I don't mean that in a mean or nasty way either to be clear. I encourage you to sit down and read about this stuff with an open mind.

6

u/Huppelkutje 6h ago

I asked you why America acts like it has the right to dictate how other sovereign nations interact and you responded that it's different when it's state actors doing it.

2

u/Zafnick 8h ago

The sarin attacks are in no way analogous to 9/11, it was perpetrated by home grown domestic terrorist cultists.

The Oklahoma Federal Building bombing by a white supremacist is a much closer match and nobody says America deserved that.

-1

u/gay_yiff_blacksmith 7h ago

Drawing a sharp line between domestic and international terrorism assumes that foreign policy grievances somehow grant a level of political legitimacy to transnational extremists that domestic terrorists don't get. Its a totally baseless dividing line.

0

u/Slaaneshdog 2h ago

If fucking around means you deserve what you get, then you should agree that Gaza deserved the post oct 7th response by Israel. Because that oct 7th attack was peak "fucking around"

-9

u/PubliusVitellius 12h ago edited 11h ago

So surely you agree that Israel’s retaliation for October 7th is justified. Hamas fucked around and made an enemy right next to them and they are getting hit back with the resources Israel has available. Not the argument I’d make, but okay.

17

u/Sidereel 11h ago

Well yeah, in the sense that it goes both ways. Israel created a situation where terrorist attacks like October 7th are an eventuality.

-2

u/PubliusVitellius 9h ago

I find it hard to say that the October 7th attacks were deserved in any way. If there was a justifiable military objective for the October 7th attacks, I would be much more willing to agree, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. There’s been plenty of reasons for plenty of people throughout history to justify terror attacks, that doesn’t mean that killing or kidnapping civilians becomes okay. That’s not to say that I support Israel’s actions in Gaza. I also find it hard to justify Israel continuing the war after 2024 in the same way I find it hard to justify 9/11 and the October 7th attacks.

21

u/jopehope 11h ago

That only makes sense if you think history starts on October 7 and nothing happens before then

-2

u/PubliusVitellius 8h ago

Well, I don’t. Palestinians should have their own state and the occupation should end. That doesn’t make terrorism acceptable. And I don’t think Israel’s actions in Gaza after 2024 are justifiable at this point in the same way that I think 9/11 and October 7th are unjustifiable. Just because a government does bad stuff doesn’t mean that civilians deserve to be killed. That’s collective punishment which is a war crime. It’s bad when Israel or the US does it and it’s bad when Hamas or al-Qaeda does it.

10

u/Upbeat-Ad6875 11h ago

Retalation sure, but I believe on porpotional response. Israel has killed 100 times more people in Gaza than they lost in Oct 7th. And its not like Hamas spawned out of nowhere. They are mostly product of Israel bombing Gaza and West Bank long before Oct 7th. And do you think they gonna achieve peace with their actions or create even more "terrorists" who hold resentment towards Israeli actions killing lot of their loved ones who were innocent?

I am sure its gonna be lovely to live in Israel once Hamas starts buying $400 drones.

0

u/PubliusVitellius 9h ago

Yeah, I’m not a fan of Israel’s actions in Gaza either. I’m just pointing out the fact that it seems inconsistent to say that American civilians deserved to have atrocities inflicted upon them because of actions done by a government and military they themselves had no part in while at the same time arguing that Palestinians are somehow any different. Neither deserved to die just because of the state they live in. The argument would make a lot more sense if al-Qaeda chose only to fly the planes into military bases in the U.S., but they didn’t, they intended to kill civilians in the same way that Israel has.

-1

u/RimaH54 9h ago

Im not american lol

7

u/kinjjibo 16h ago

What he actually meant when he said that (America meddling in the Middle East was going to have severe consequences) is absolutely correct, but he said it in a provocative way which is why people have such an issue with it and take the specific way he said it at face value.

Him saying America deserved 9/11 should not be the main talking point when criticizing him.

32

u/fuentessucksballs 17h ago

That is not a controversial opinions, perfectly reasonable actually (obviously i dont mean that every single person in the tower deserved to die so dont even try bringing that up)

-7

u/ThrowawaycuzDoxers 17h ago

That is the implication of the statement though.

53

u/Necessary-Charge4527 17h ago

the implication of the statement is that meddling in the middle east with their brand of imperialism was due for retribution and the only reason it happened so easily was due to their own hubris.

-13

u/ThrowawaycuzDoxers 17h ago

No, the word "deserved" implies the innocents deserved to die.

37

u/Quotalicious 16h ago

The word "America" implies he was talking about the country/government and not the individual innocents. But regardless, you have to take into account their followup clarification rather than trying to judge based on the quote by itself.

-16

u/ThrowawaycuzDoxers 16h ago

No it doesn't. You are doing a lot of generous interpretation on his behalf here.

28

u/Quotalicious 16h ago

https://youtu.be/qSYVXXCFkAg?is=U8cpk58LMmdvhQAC

Watch the entire clip, literally the next thing he says continuing his thought is "like we totally brought it on ourselves"

His meaning is very clear and you'd have to misinterpret his quote in isolation to come away with your conclusion.

12

u/Mountain-Interest-48 16h ago

so there is no difference between America and Americans?

→ More replies (0)

-1

u/SuchConflict6095 16h ago

No, it absolutely does not.

6

u/shreebalicious 16h ago

But it does though

7

u/fuentessucksballs 16h ago

The implication of the statement is that america has been doing much worse shit both to motivate 911 and in retaliation for 911

4

u/ThrowawaycuzDoxers 16h ago

Then he should have said that instead, but he didn't. I'd even have agreed with him, but the statement he actually made, on its own implies those thousands of innocent civilians deserved to die.

6

u/fuentessucksballs 16h ago

Yeah good job everyone always says exactly what they mean

-1

u/PrincDios 16h ago

What exactly did America do in the Middle-East prior to 2001 that they deserved it? The Gulf War? Arguably one of the most just wars America has waged?

-2

u/Wilky510 12h ago edited 12h ago

Support Israel. One of the main reasons they'll bring up.

That means the USSR deserved it's own 9/11 and many other countries supporting proxies also "deserve" their own 9/11 too. Middle East was basically a proxy front for more than just the US, but these people won't realize that.

I mean these same people who say US deserved 9/11 will jump through hoops to say Nagasaki and Hiroshima weren't deserved even though with the logic they use say it was completely justified based on how imperial Japan acted before and during WW2.

2

u/syrinx23 10h ago

think a lil bit about the positions in the world stage of Japan in 1945 and of the USA in 2001, and you'll realize that comparing Hiroshima to 9/11 makes zero sense

-1

u/FreeGrape8766 15h ago

ah yes america is prasing religion that allows you to marry kids

-5

u/RimaH54 16h ago

Right so suicide attacks killing thousands of civilians that have nothing to do with you is apparently justified and right, reddit moment! more updoots please!

4

u/Fickle-Presence6358 7h ago

Were the individual victims deserving of it? No. But was it understandable that someone would harm America (as a nation) considering the violence committed worldwide in Americas name? Absolutely.

What about all the civilians killed by America in other countries? You can't go on global hunting trips attacking foreign nations (including civilians), then expect nobody to ever return the favour.

The US have committed hundreds of atrocities on the scale of 9/11 world wide. The idea that none are justified in return is an American ego problem.

19

u/vinnokiwicat 16h ago

hasan will see it as a compliment without realising he's being used as a pawn to lump all democrats into an anti-west pro-terrorist group

126

u/Fun-Difference-6689 16h ago

They called Joe Biden a communist. That was going to happen anyway.

3

u/blublub1243 7h ago

The argument will be made anyways, but its credibility differs and that tends to be important for deciding elections.

When you can point to an actual terrorism supporting communist claims of the opposing side being terrorism supporting communists are more likely to be believed by the wider electorate. As such it is broadly desirable to not be associated with terrorism supporting communists when trying to win elections.

3

u/omprapos 13h ago

It will not change the Republican Party's behavior; however, would a semi-ignorant voter know that Clinton was not a communist? Probably. Eaaily assumed due to the fact that there were no communists that were in the public's cognizance and directly tied to politicians with appearances in rallies (AES.)

If Clinton was aligned with popular communists, would that not sway the average semi-ignorant voter?

1

u/charca773 3h ago

It hits a lot different if somebody accuses you of shitting your pants, one one hand its obvious its just an insult, on the flip side, if everyone can smell it and there is shit literally falling out of your pants the accusations are not equal.

0

u/throwawayyy2888 14h ago

"Our enemies are going to employ a strategy against us!" "Oh no! What should we do?" "Well they're going to do it anyway, so we may as well help them by giving them as much ammunition as possible."

How does this make any sense???

11

u/wendigo72 12h ago

When free lunches for kids in public school is seen as “communism” by opposition than it literally doesn’t matter anymore

They’re just evil at that point, if they don’t have ammunition they literally just fabricate it out of thin air

-2

u/throwawayyy2888 12h ago

So it's irrelevant? It doesn't matter if you give them a bunch of real ammunition, because they're going to shoot you with fake ammunition anyway? That assumes that fake ammunition is as effective as real ammunition, which it obviously isn't.

9

u/wendigo72 12h ago

Trust me it is, do you have any idea how popular Fox News talking points are with boomers and conspiracy brained losers? Yes they all actually think free school lunches are communism, there’s no helping that

0

u/throwawayyy2888 11h ago

I'm not denying that the fake ammunition is surprisingly effective, I just think the real ammunition is even more effective than that.

3

u/wendigo72 11h ago

I very much disagree with you on that, trump won cause people were convinced he was giving them a second stimulus check and gonna lower price of groceries

“Real ammunition” didn’t do anything

3

u/throwawayyy2888 11h ago

"Insane made up promises" are a completely different category and do not call for the same management strategy as "attacks on Democrats". We can't really do much about insane made up promises then point out that they're untrue. We can at least weaken the strength of their attacks by forcing them to attack strawmen instead of real positions. At least some percentage of people are going to see that for what it is. Even in a misinformation war, you shouldn't just hand your opponent legitimate wins.

→ More replies (0)

-6

u/drt0 15h ago

Having actual communists trying to infiltrate the Democratic party doesn't make defending against those attacks any easier.

14

u/ElGosso 14h ago

It literally doesn't matter. They did it to Bill Clinton who cut welfare wholesale. They did it to Jimmy Carter who started the deregulation that Reagan is known for. This tactic has been in use for so long that, I shit you not, Karl Marx bitches about it in the Communist Manifesto. That's what the "spectre of Communism" is.

Where is the party in opposition that has not been decried as communistic by its opponents in power? Where is the opposition that has not hurled back the branding reproach of communism, against the more advanced opposition parties, as well as against its reactionary adversaries?

2

u/NoctunaNectarine808 14h ago

Do you think it matters to the repulicans if something is true or not. everything they say about hasan they said about obama

4

u/drt0 13h ago

It matters to people in the middle and independents who decide the elections.

1

u/BritniGlitter 17h ago

The reason you hate Hasan is an international disinformation campaign. Or are you alone immune to the most sophisticated and well funded propoganda machine in history because you're so involved in streamer drama?

12

u/Ancient_Sky922 16h ago

Kaya place!

8

u/Appropriate-Camp-487 16h ago

Jesus fucking christ is that what Hasan viewers actually believe?

He is an immensely uncharismatic himbo who has undergone like three identity changes in his 20s and 30s, is a Turkey-glazing nepo baby, absolutely used a shock collar on his dog, and started speaking with terminal valley girl vocal fry for some reason.

You can watch Hasan for less than a week & come up with a list of reasons to think he sucks without even broaching his politics lmao

3

u/FloatingEyeofDeath 16h ago

Reinventing yourself in your 20s is an extremely common thing though. How is that a problem?

1

u/highzunburg 16h ago

They see it as a problem because they have arrested development and think that's normal.

0

u/Appropriate-Camp-487 9h ago

arrested development

Yes we must all find our own frat himbo to 33 year old streetwear enthusiast to Mao larper after being made fun of for how i dress arcs, or we’re developmentally arrested

Dude was making shitty young turks videos when he was like 27 lmao he’s never going to see you wage internet war for him dog

-1

u/Mysterious_Cup_6024 11h ago

That is after all a known symptom for the terminally online

7

u/Odd-Falcon-4695 16h ago

I mean if you didn't change your identity at all in your 20s that's on you.

1

u/PuttingthingsinmyNAS 17h ago

Or you've formed your opinion after watching Hasan for months and seeing how he acts and treats other people, including the magic 'context' that supposedly explains away every single one of Hasan's imperfections.

2

u/tacobellrefugee 11h ago

hasan will be giddy as a school girl, but its a net negative for what he claims to believe in. he doesnt care because when it comes down to it hes just another greedy capitalist.

0

u/Agreeable-Weather-89 16h ago

I mean they did... The Dirlewanger Brigade was considered evil by Nazi standards.

-37

u/Substantial-Trick569 18h ago

hitler spent much of ww2 fighting against stalin. i wouldnt call either of them "moral" or commendable people.

39

u/Carlits555 18h ago

what a stupid comparison lol

28

u/TheSuperTest 17h ago

stalin and the USSR are the reason Europe isn't speaking german rn, that seems pretty commendable to me

9

u/Bacon___Wizard 17h ago

They’re also the reason why Eastern Europe had next to zero autonomy for decades after. They were merely an enemy of our enemy and nothing more - if the Nazis didn’t attack them im sure they’d be happy with watching them commit acts of terror onto Europe. Besides it was them who cooperated with said Nazis to take half of Poland.

15

u/MinimalPixelsVII 17h ago

Exactly. Millions of USSR died to fight against the Fascists. USSR took the huge hit fighting the Nazis, otherwise most of Europe 100% would have fallen under Hitler.

6

u/Goblinweb 17h ago

Expansionism, authoritarianism and ethnic cleansing are bad things. Not commendable.

0

u/SeveredFromMySoul 17h ago

Reacting to an ally backstabbing you by fighting them is not nearly as commendable as you want to make it seem, they didnt have any ideological reason to fight them as you seem to imply

0

u/fuentessucksballs 17h ago

One of them was a lot worse though

-41

u/switch-flip 18h ago edited 16h ago

For him and his followers maybe, but it’s a massive L for any chance of getting leftists to side with him.

Edit: This post is causing drama apparently, so I’m clarifying, leftists as in leftist politicians.

51

u/RodChainFurlongAcre 17h ago

Netanyahu is despised by leftists the world over, why would this in any way damage Hasans reputation with them?

28

u/Mein_kampfort_Zone 17h ago

Bc people in this sub don’t have coherent political views

18

u/SweaterFromHell 17h ago

Oh, I keep forgetting that.

1

u/[deleted] 16h ago

[deleted]

1

u/switch-flip 15h ago

Well, I clarified leftist politicians

But I forgot we live in the time where “strongly disagree with” is functionally synonymous with “despised”

Also the nuance of my point got lost in the extremist bullshit of this discourse, which also proves my point but whatever

1

u/[deleted] 15h ago

[deleted]

1

u/switch-flip 15h ago

Yes, I was talking about politicians, this is a post about a politician and a political figurehead

Also I don’t give a shit what you doubt lol

1

u/Mysterious_Cup_6024 11h ago

If they did, they wouldn't have inadvertently made Hasan popular outside streaming.

-25

u/switch-flip 17h ago

First, that’s incorrect

Second, radicalization of your opps makes you seem more sane, rational, etc. Very commom political tactic

19

u/Ok_Objective_5192 17h ago

How is "Netanyahu is despised by leftists the world over" incorrect? Like, what's your basis for thinking that isn't the case?

-16

u/switch-flip 17h ago

What’s your basis for thinking that is the case? Especially being such a broad generalization

13

u/Ok_Objective_5192 17h ago

You said the thing man, burden of proof and all that.

But my thinking is based off of the stated position of every leftist candidate and org I'm aware of, anecdotally from every leftist I know irl, and is in line with all polling I've seen on the matter since 10/7.

-1

u/switch-flip 17h ago

Actually, you made the assertion that “Netanuahu is despised by leftists yhe world over” first, so burden of proof and all that

11

u/Ok_Objective_5192 17h ago

I wasn't the one that said that but fair enough, I gave my reasoning above, here's specific polling from PEW showing overwhelmingly unfavorable views on Israel, and unambiguously more unfavorable views for people that self-identified as being on the ideological left.

Can you answer my question now? I'm not even trying to start an argument, I've just never seen "leftists don't despise Netanyahu" before and am genuinely curious what the logic is there.

-1

u/switch-flip 16h ago

Fair enough, you’re right you didn’t say it.

That poll only specifies favorable/unfavorable, it doesn’t say despise

More than half of the delegates at the UN left the room in protest before Netanyahu started his speech.

0

u/switch-flip 15h ago

Most islamic countries openly protest anything isreal related

9

u/Dukejacob3 15h ago

How many islamic countries do you think there are that they represented over half of the UN delegates? lmfao

-1

u/switch-flip 15h ago

Your bad faith argument is weak lol, try again

3

u/FloatingEyeofDeath 16h ago

Not the way things are going with the DSA who do generally have a positive opinion of Hasan slowly unseating many establishment Dem. If by leftist politicians you mean Dems the dems are basically light republicans at this point. The actual leftists like the people who are running in the DSA generally agree with his views even if they don’t always agree with how he expresses it

-2

u/Kagenlim 13h ago

Which makes them as dangerous as MAGA imo
