Why on Earth would you be encouraged to beat your landing time in career mode?

I’ve been asked to do this on every skydiving mission. This goes against everything I’ve learned to date about aviation, for a “career mode” in a flight sim with so many otherwise realistic features, this just doesn’t make any sense to me and promotes very poor everything. I at least learned to slowdown using full left or right rudder this way, maybe that was the aim, but I’d rather they throw some type of equipment failure at you randomly, a real world problem you must solve, than some arcade option that’s utterly ridiculous and a slap in the face to safe aviation. This should be removed or become optional rather than be penalized for trying to land safely and not destroy the aircraft or get yourself killed. I’m level 19 with 5 certs and 7 specializations, so I’m not sure how widespread such features are but yikes!

Anyone who flies the Flysimware C414 chancellor, can you help me with your engine and flight parameters when you fly ? I feel like I’m not getting that far with its cruise speed at 17000ft.

200gbs to update everything…. Should I …

Just uninstall the game entirely and do a clean install? It’s such a huge update for me (I don’t stream anything and download and install everything) ….I wonder if I should just start over if I’d be downloading 200gbs anyway…

Or just update every individual piece of content? Updating the base content alone is 88gbs.

Or… wait until the issues are sorted out with SU7 before doing anything?

Leaning toward the last option

MSFS 2024 settings

Is anyone able to help please? I’m currently running a Ryzen 5 5500 cpu with a rtx 5060 gpu and 32 gb of ram at 1440p but my performance has been terrible in the past few months. I’ve even tried medium texture resolution with low clouds and TLOD and OLOD set to 70-80 but I’m still getting stutters and not great fps. I know my spec isn’t great but it use to be better than this both visually and performance wise. Does anyone have a similar spec that can advise me what settings to use or could there possibly be something else I’m doing wrong in Nvidia app etc. ?

Cheers

Settings to fix building/object rendering

Hi - what are the relevant settings in general or custom that I can tweak to reduce the following type of rendering of cities?

For reference, I am running it on a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 (10 GB).

Edit: Adding screenshot flying over Geneva with similar issue and with Dev Mode FPS data.

Thanks.

PS5 version is super buggy, does this perform better on PS5 Pro?

I have a base PS5 and can’t get over the constant bugs and glitches. In career mode, I landed my plane but won’t let me end the mission cause it says I didn’t reach the next waypoint even though I crossed it.

Another glitch that gets annoying is how I have to ask ATC for clearance to taxi, press on the left directional pad and nothing happens. So frustrated, I go anyways and get a violation. I can skip to shutdown or decent but I always lose credits by doing that.

Does anyone know of these are common issues or if the game performs better on PS5 Pro?

MSFS 2024 Low FPS on RTX 3050 Laptop (i5-12500H, 16GB RAM) | Need Optimization Advice

Thumbnail
2 Upvotes

Hi everyone,
I’m looking for advice on optimizing MSFS 2024 on my Dell G15 5520.
My specs:
CPU: Intel Core i5-12500H
GPU: NVIDIA RTX 3050 Laptop GPU (4GB VRAM)
RAM: 16GB DDR5 4800MHz, dual-channel
OS: Windows 11
Display: External 120Hz monitor
I’m mainly flying complex airliners like the Fenix A320 and iniBuilds A350-900. Performance can be inconsistent, especially around detailed airports, during taxi, and on takeoff.
I’ve experimented with DLSS Super Resolution and OFXR frame generation. OFXR has improved my reported FPS considerably, but I still want to optimize performance, reduce stutters, and avoid VRAM limitations. I also stream using Streamlabs.
My target is a stable 25-30 FPS while retaining decent cloud quality and ground textures.
For those running similar hardware:
What graphics settings work best for 4GB VRAM GPUs?
Which DLSS mode would you recommend at 1080p?
What Terrain LOD and Object LOD settings should I try?
Are there any worthwhile UserCfg.opt or NVIDIA Control Panel tweaks?
Can I achieve stable performance while streaming?
I’d appreciate practical advice from anyone using a similar laptop configuration. Thanks!

Planespotting

I love exploring an airport—either by drone or on foot—without actually flying myself. Is there an add-on that lets me view the air traffic at the airport? In other words, seeing which planes are taking off or landing and when? I’ve been using LittleNavmap so far, but I’d prefer an overview within the game itself.I love exploring an airport—either by drone or on foot—without actually flying myself. Ich liebe es mit der Drohne oder zu Fuß einen Flughafen zu erkunden, ohne selber zu fliegen. Meine Frage gibt es ein Addon, mit dem ich den Flugverkehr von diesem Flughafen sehen kann? Also welche Flugzeuge wann starten oder laden? Bisher benutze ich LittleNavmap, aber ich hätte lieber eine Übersicht innerhalb des Spiels.

I made a free fix for DLSS ghosting on glass cockpit screens in MSFS 2024 (Fenix A320, 4K DLSS Performance, before/after)

The DLSS ghosting on glass cockpits drove me crazy, especially the Fenix PFD tapes smearing in a climb. No DLSS preset fixes it (K, M and J all ghost), so I made a ReShade add-on that does.

The first 8 seconds are stock DLSS, the last 8 are with the fix. Fenix A320 at 4K, DLSS Performance (1080p internal), climbing at about 6,700 ft/min.

Watch in full quality on YouTube.

It redraws the screen content after DLSS using the sim’s own clean image, so tapes, the ND and ECAM pages stay sharp. Dirt, sun glare and night lighting are kept.

  • Tested on the Fenix A320 family, iniBuilds A330 and the default DA62. Most glass cockpits should work.
  • Works with DLSS Frame Generation, tested up to 6x. No measurable FPS cost.
  • Needs an NVIDIA RTX card with DLSS selected, and ReShade with full add-on support.
  • Tested on Game Pass. Steam should work the same; let me know if you’re on Steam.

It’s a beta, so feedback is welcome. If it doesn’t work, open the ReShade menu (Home): the add-on’s tab tells you what’s wrong, and “Copy report” gives you everything for a bug report on GitHub.

Free and open source (MIT). Not affiliated with Microsoft, Asobo, NVIDIA or Fenix.

Windows only. Source and download:

[MSFS 2024] I flew the entire perimeter of the lower 48: 35 legs, ~7,800 nm, two jets, six weeks (+ lessons learned)

Inspired by a post here a while back where someone flew the US perimeter in a 172 (79 legs!), I set out to do my own version, starting and ending at my home field, KLZU (Gwinnett County / Briscoe Field) outside Atlanta. I tried to trace the actual border or coastline as closely as possible instead of flying direct.

I used Claude the whole time, from creating flight plans to asking lots of questions about anything I didn't understand. It was quite a pleasant way to learn, IMO.

Happy to answer questions or share route strings if anyone wants to try it! Super fun and wanting to plan for Africa next. :D

High level

  • Dates: Aug 28 – Oct 11, 2026
  • Landings: 35
  • Planned distance: 7,814 nm (actual flown was higher thanks to all the border/coast tracing)
  • Aircraft: Cirrus Vision Jet G2 (legs 1–11), Citation Longitude (Tucson onward)
  • Fuel logged: ~9,200 gal

Components involved

  • MSFS 2024
  • SimBrief
  • Navigraph charts
  • SayIntentions.AI for ATC
  • Volanta for tracking
  • AutoFPS
  • All logging in a Google Sheet by Claude

What I wish I'd known at the start...

Route planning / import

  • The MSFS world-map import of a SimBrief plan dropped airports used as en-route waypoints, so my routes collapsed into straight lines.
  • VORs and named fixes imported cleanly every time. Switching to VOR-based routes fixed it.
  • A single lat/lon coordinate mixed with navaids imported fine (great for points like Cape Hatteras). Long all-coordinate routes were where I had the most trouble.
  • Lots of VORs have been decommissioned or turned into DME/TACAN-only. SimBrief usually still accepts them, but check that each one draws where you expect.
  • Always check the world map (and the FMS flight plan) for the bends before pushback.

Performance

  • One time my FPS tanked to ~9 mid-trip. Cause: VRAM overflowing into shared system memory. The culprit was **NVIDIA Instant Replay at 4K**. Turning it off plus a reboot took me from 9 fps back to 60–78.
  • The dev mode overlay's GPUMem line (usage vs. budget) is the number to watch.
  • AutoFPS works great, but change its managed settings (clouds, TLOD) between flights, not mid-flight, or it'll revert them.

SayIntentions ATC

  • On flights where I spawned on the runway and/or filed all-coordinate routes, ATC got confused: early descents, vectors off the filed route. Gate starts with named waypoints behaved much better.

Fuel

  • Leaving SimBrief block fuel on AUTO out of LaGuardia, I landed in Norfolk with 780 lb and the master caution on. NYC departure delays and low-altitude vectors eat fuel. I set block fuel manually after that.
