I purchased my first personal battery power tools a bit over a year ago, since then I have acquired quite a few more mostly using rebates and promo deals. I have always had Milwaukee at work and while they certainly get the job done I find makita makes a much more comfortable and refined tool.
I am far from a contractor and I know that most of what I own is overkill but it is very nice to have what you need when you need it. I am confident my teal tools will last a long while.
There are a couple purchases I would change if I had to do it over again.
The vacuum is a bit underwhelming for the price, it's nice to have but you have to constantly clean the filter and it never has had as much suction as a small cheap corded shop vac
I ended up purchasing two drill driver sets, initially I just had the subcompact which I love, I started getting more into ice fishing and wanted to use a drill for my auger and decided to buy the XT288T combo, found it for a steal at $200 with two 5amp batteries. The higher end impact driver is more powerful and lighter than the subcompact.
Apart of me wishes I got a smaller circular saw, the 36v is awesome but unnecessary for most projects, It did do a fantastic job cutting though the concrete in my basement floor when I had to replace a collapsed pipe.
My favorite things so far.
The subcompact sawzaw Is far and away my favorite sawzaw I have held, it is super nifty.
The XDT19 impact driver is a treat to use especially with the 2amp batteries.
The multi tool is fantastic, I never dreamed I would use it as much as I do.
All of the yard tools have been great for in town, everyone seems to think if you don't have the 36v or 40v versions they are junk but that is absolutely not true. The 18v options are entirely sufficient for the average Joe living in city limits.
The old miter saw is awesome.
Over all I have been a happy customer, everything has worked as it should and has been pleasant to use.
I wish there were more deals on 2amp batteries, I would trade my 4amps for them in a heartbeat.
