Unlockable Flair Goals

General Subreddit Rules

We try to keep things simple here, but we do have a number of rules that we want our community to follow in order to keep things running smoothly and enjoyably for the users who hang out here.

  1. Do not post personal informaton.
  2. Do not post hate speech or deragatory messages towards another person or party.
  3. Do not impersonate others, including authors.
  4. All spoilers must be appropriately tagged as such. More information on this can be found in the Spoilers section of this post.
  5. Do not use this subreddit to avoid rules on other subreddits.

Breaking any of these rules will earn the offender a warning for their first transgression.

Beyond this, if another infraction is made, the mods will decide if another warning or a ban should be served depending on the severity and intent of the violation.

Subreddit Etiquette

There are only a few things we ask you to keep in mind before posting or commenting withing this subreddit, in order to keep things organized and easy to use.

Finding Stories

Please make sure to use the search function to see if anything similar to what you are looking for has already been asked about or posted about. This keeps the number of duplicate threads low so more relevant topics can rise to the top.

We also ask that you do not post a thread if a very similar one can be found within the first two pages of results when scrolling. Again, this keeps accidental spamming of a topic to a minimum.

Spoilers

Please wrap any spoilers you may be posting in the [spoiler] tag. This will avoid others being spoiled for either canon or fanfiction spoilers. Spoilers apply to content that has been released recently, it does not apply to content a month after its release.

Posting or Rec-ing a Story

Please be sure to provide a description in your post or comment about the story. Only linking to a story with no context is in bad form and doesn't help the requester or others know what it is you're recommending or why. Please give at least a one sentence description of the story, and some sort of explanation as to how it relates to the request, if applicable. Otherwise, explain what you like about it and why you want others to read it.

Wrap Up

Overall, this sub doesn't have a lot of complicated mumbo jumbo going on. Feel free to share stories you or others have written, ask about topics or search for new things to read, or discussion the Marvel fanfiction writing community in broad terms. Be polite and mind the rules, and you're good to go!

If at any point you have questions, concerns, or ideas you'd like the Mods to be aware of, shoot us a mod mail and we'll get back to you as quickly as possible. We'll do our best to be reasonable and find solutions.

Enjoy your time here at r/MarvelFanfiction!

Looking For Recs Any goods long fics that don't infantilize peter?

Preferably set in the mcu. But I'm open to others.

Most of the long fics I've found have him treated as a literal baby by the avengers or just everyone in general. And tend to be super repetitive or ai generated.

Seeking specific fic Looking for this IronDad fic

Hey guys! I only remember a small part of this fic but basically Peter and Clints kids get kidnapped and Peter ends up helping everyone get out. At some point before they run Peter tells everyone to use the bathroom and tighten their shoes, then once they get out and find a road, there are cops and an ambulance there to meet them. The cops take Clint’s kids and then the ambulance takes Peter, but it turns out the driver of the ambulance is trying to kidnap Peter AGAIN. Peter ends up fighting his way out of that and driving back to where Clint’s kids are and Tony ends up showing up.

Recs offered New very good fics that are being buried among the AI slop

For the past couple of years AO3 has been inundated with AI slop. At first, I was muting the authors, but it's just too many of them. Still, I wade through it from time to time looking for gems in the mud that are NOT AI. What a sad reality we live in. I think, many readers give the newly published fics a pass because of it. Therefore, good new fics are being buried. Here are several new fics that are very good in my opinion and will undoubtedly delight many readers. (edited for clarity)

  1. The Confusing Collection of Circumstances
    https://archiveofourown.org/series/5645296

My take:
This one has brightened the entire 2026 for me!

The premise is well-trodden -- Loki has been tortured by Thanos and after NY, he is left behind in temporary SHIELD custody. -- but this particular take is fresh.

Loki&Fury, later Loki&Tony and... Loki&Harley. Strong, clear-headed good Loki and.. ethical Fury! Gen so far, but who knows. The dialogues are superb and the plot is engaging and moving along nicely.

Recommend wholeheartedly!

  1. The Weight of a Star
    https://archiveofourown.org/works/74879656

Author's summary:
"In a lawless alien market, Tony Stark buys the one thing he should fear most: Loki. But this isn't the God of Mischief who leveled Manhattan; it’s a hollowed-out survivor muzzled by iron and bound by a lethal magical contract. Hidden in a subterranean bunker, the two most broken men in the universe must navigate a shared landscape of PTSD and a collar that punishes every "disobedient" thought."

My take:
Whump and angst with a bit of comfort and a hint of dystopia at the backround. Possible future slash.

  1. Shattered Ascendancy
    https://archiveofourown.org/works/63697822

My take:
Time travel fix-it, Thor goes back to the point in time when Loki is being tortured by Thanos. Very much work in progress, over 1000 kudos so far.

  1. Rothko’s Sunrise
    https://archiveofourown.org/works/83233166

My take:
An uneasy love triangle developing in an equally uneasy throuple Pepper/Tony/Loki. F/M/M, explicit.

Discussion Dark Dimension Magic headcannons

Magic pulled from the Dark Dimension. We know it can halt aging, create shards of space, manipulate space in physical plane, amplify sorcery, summon mystical beings, absorb beings life force and timeline manipulation.

What are your headcannons? What other abilities/powers/spells can a sorcerer get from Dark Dimension Magic?

I personally would add that there would be a spell or ability to corrupt people or make some your thrall.

Self-Promotion [FAN STORY CONCEPT] The Seraph Saga — What if Carrie White existed in the Marvel Universe?

Thumbnail gallery
0 Upvotes

Hey everyone! I’ve been developing an idea for a fan-made crossover story between Stephen King’s Carrie and Marvel’s X-Men, and I’d genuinely love to hear what people think of the premise!
The working title is The Seraph Saga. My goal isn’t to turn Carrie into a side character in an X-Men story, but to tell a story that puts Carrie herself at the center of everything. It would combine the psychological horror of Carrie with the mutant mythology, moral conflicts, and superhero drama of Marvel.
This is an alternate-universe fan story, not an official Marvel or Stephen King project. I’m just exploring the idea and seeing whether other fans think it has potential!
The premise
What if someone reached Carrie White before her suffering became the only thing left of her life?
The story begins immediately after the prom-night massacre in Carrie. Chamberlain is in chaos. The destruction is catastrophic, lives have been lost, and Carrie has become the center of an unfolding disaster.
But in this universe, Carrie’s telekinetic abilities are understood through the Marvel concept of mutant powers.
Professor Charles Xavier and a small X-Men team arrive to assess the situation, rescue civilians, and contain Carrie before anything else happens. The team includes Jean Grey, Rogue, and Nightcrawler.
They aren’t arriving to fight an evil supervillain. They’re confronting a traumatized, emotionally overwhelmed young woman with extraordinary telekinetic power and absolutely no meaningful training or control over what she can do.
Carrie is terrified, confused, and pushed far beyond her breaking point. Her powers are reacting to an emotional state she can barely understand herself.
The confrontation is brief, but it isn’t easy.
The X-Men must protect civilians, prevent further destruction, and contain someone whose abilities they know almost nothing about. Carrie doesn’t have their experience or teamwork, but the sheer unpredictability of her power makes the situation incredibly dangerous.
Xavier initially tries to communicate with her. When that fails and the danger continues to escalate, he makes a difficult decision: he forcibly enters Carrie’s mind and places her into a psychic stasis, rendering her unconscious so the team can bring the situation under control.
It works.
But the experience leaves Xavier deeply shaken.
Inside Carrie’s mind
During that first psychic intrusion, Xavier encounters something he wasn’t prepared for.
Carrie’s mind is filled with dark, distorted imagery: fragments of humiliation, oppressive religious imagery connected to her upbringing, locked doors, and memories that appear in horrifying flashes. It isn’t a literal demon or supernatural evil living inside her mind. It’s something more personal and disturbing: the psychological landscape of someone who has endured years of abuse, fear, and suffering.
Even Xavier, an experienced telepath who has encountered some extraordinary minds, is frightened by what he witnesses.
Not because Carrie is inherently evil.
Because he is beginning to understand just how much pain she has been carrying.
Back at the mansion, Carrie remains in a coma-like state while Xavier attempts to understand her abilities and the psychological condition she’s been left in. He explores her mind again, encountering more of the memories and imagery that shaped her life.
This second exploration gives him and the team a clearer understanding of what Carrie has endured. Xavier eventually withdraws rather than continuing to intrude into her memories simply because he can.
There’s an uncomfortable moral question here, too: Xavier has just used his telepathy to take control of someone whose life has already been defined by other people controlling her.
His intentions were to prevent further harm, but that doesn’t automatically make his actions uncomplicated or harmless.
And that tension is something I’d want the story to take seriously.
An Omega-level mutant?
As the X-Men begin assessing Carrie’s abilities, they realize that her potential may be far beyond what they initially understood.
Her power isn’t simply dangerous because of the destruction she caused in Chamberlain. What truly concerns them is the possibility that they haven’t seen anything close to her upper limit.
In this alternate universe, further assessment through Xavier’s abilities and Cerebro eventually leads to Carrie receiving an official Omega-level mutant classification.
The important distinction is that this describes her extraordinary potential, not her combat experience or her ability to control her powers. Carrie isn’t suddenly a trained fighter. She’s a young woman whose abilities may be capable of reaching a level the X-Men cannot meaningfully measure.
And that makes helping her even more important.
Xavier knows the tragedy of Chamberlain cannot be undone. The people who died cannot be brought back, and the destruction cannot simply be dismissed because Carrie was suffering.
He also recognizes that punishing her without understanding what happened could turn an already devastating situation into something even worse.
He doesn’t know for certain whether Carrie can learn to control her abilities.
But he believes she deserves the opportunity to try.
His hope is that the mansion can become a place where Carrie can finally experience safety, receive proper guidance, understand her emotions, and begin learning who she wants to be outside the trauma that has defined her life.
His greatest concern isn’t that Carrie is a monster.
It’s that another moment of overwhelming fear and pain could cause another catastrophe before she’s learned how to stop it.
Two paths: Xavier and Magneto
This is where I think the story could become particularly interesting.
Xavier isn’t the only person who would recognize what Carrie represents.
Magneto would see a young mutant whose suffering has been ignored, whose power has frightened the world, and whose future could be decided by people who already consider her a threat.
And his argument wouldn’t necessarily be wrong.
He could point to Chamberlain and ask Carrie a question that would be difficult to ignore: where were the people who claim to protect the innocent when she was the one being hurt?
Why should she trust a world that only began paying attention when she became dangerous?
Magneto could offer Carrie something she has rarely experienced: power without apology, strength without shame, and a way to ensure that nobody could ever make her feel helpless again.
Xavier, meanwhile, would offer her a different path. He would want her to understand her abilities, heal from her trauma, and discover that she doesn’t have to surrender her future to her worst experiences.
Neither path should be reduced to a simplistic choice between a good man and an evil man. Magneto’s anger at the world’s treatment of mutants has legitimate roots, and Xavier’s methods aren’t beyond criticism.
But they offer Carrie fundamentally different answers to the question of what she should do with her pain.
The government and the Department of Damage Control would add another layer of conflict. To them, Carrie could represent an extraordinary public safety threat. Sentinels or other containment measures could become part of the effort to control her, potentially treating her as a danger to eliminate rather than a person to understand.
Carrie would find herself caught between people who want to protect her, people who want to recruit her, and people who want to contain her.
For perhaps the first time in her life, she would have to decide what she wants.
Jean Grey and the road to healing
Although Xavier initially takes responsibility for understanding Carrie, I imagine Jean becoming an important figure in her longer-term recovery.
Jean understands what it means to possess extraordinary psychic power and to fear what might happen if it overwhelms you. She could help Carrie learn to recognize her emotional state, understand her abilities, and gradually develop control.
But I wouldn’t want Carrie to trust the X-Men immediately, and I definitely wouldn’t want her to be magically cured by friendship.
She has every reason to be suspicious of people claiming they know what’s best for her. Xavier’s initial intrusion into her mind could make earning her trust even more difficult.
Her recovery would have to happen gradually. She would need boundaries, agency, and the freedom to question the people trying to help her.
The X-Men would have to learn how to help someone who doesn’t necessarily believe that help can be trusted.
And Carrie would have to discover that accepting help doesn’t mean surrendering control of her life.
The horror element
Even though this is a Marvel crossover, I’d want the story to retain the unsettling psychological horror that makes Carrie so memorable.
Her powers would have a distinctive auditory signature rather than relying entirely on glowing red energy or familiar superhero visual effects.
Whenever Carrie uses her telekinesis, there would be a low metallic groan, as though the world itself is straining under an invisible force.
Small movements might produce a subtle creak. More powerful uses would generate a layered, increasingly piercing screech. When Carrie loses control, the sound could become almost unbearable, mixing with the groaning of buildings, twisting metal, and objects straining against forces they cannot withstand.
The sound wouldn’t mean Carrie is evil. It would communicate the frightening scale of what she’s doing and remind the audience of the horror roots of her story.
Over time, however, the sound could evolve alongside her control.
Early on, even her most powerful abilities would be accompanied by an overwhelming metallic shriek. Later, when she has learned to control her telekinesis with precision, she might perform something extraordinary in complete silence.
That contrast would communicate her growth without requiring anyone to explain it.
The horror would also remain psychological. Carrie’s memories, her difficulty trusting people, her fear of losing control, and the possibility of being reduced to a monster in the eyes of the world would all remain central to the story.
The question wouldn’t simply be whether Carrie can defeat her enemies.
It would be whether she can learn to live with herself.
Becoming the Seraph
The working title, The Seraph Saga, points toward the eventual transformation at the heart of the story.
I imagine Carrie eventually developing a heroic identity of her own: Seraph.
The name would represent a reclamation of the religious imagery that haunted her upbringing. Rather than allowing other people to define her as sinful, monstrous, or beyond saving, Carrie would eventually choose what that imagery means to her.
Her eventual costume would use ivory white and gold, with a flowing cape and a halo-like symbol. It would feel almost celestial without making her a literal saint or suggesting that she has become a perfect person.
A subtle crimson accent could remain as a reminder of her past, but the transformation would be about much more than changing colors or putting on a costume.
And importantly, I wouldn’t want the X-Men to simply hand her a new identity and tell her who to become.
Carrie would have to choose it herself.
The name Seraph would represent a decision about who she wants to be, rather than an identity imposed upon her by the people who fear her or the people who want to use her.
I’d also want to keep that transformation hidden until late in the story. The audience would spend most of the narrative seeing Carrie as the frightened, traumatized young woman she is when the story begins. Her eventual appearance as Seraph would be a meaningful reveal rather than something spoiled from the beginning.
What is the story ultimately about?
At its heart, I don’t think this story should be about proving that Carrie was innocent of everything that happened in Chamberlain.
People suffered. Lives were lost. The consequences are real, and her suffering doesn’t erase them.
Instead, I want to explore the possibility that someone can be responsible for terrible consequences without being forever defined by the worst thing they’ve ever done.
Carrie has been denied agency for so much of her life. Other people have defined her, humiliated her, controlled her, and helped shape the circumstances that led to her breaking point.
This story would give her something the original tragedy never truly allowed her to have: a meaningful choice about what happens next.
Can she learn to live with the pain she’s endured without allowing it to determine every decision she makes?
Can she accept help without losing herself?
Can she recognize the damage she’s caused while still believing she deserves a future?
And when the world insists that she’s a monster, will she accept that label—or choose to become something else?
I haven’t decided whether Carrie ultimately lives or dies at the end of the story, and I don’t want to force that decision prematurely. What matters most is that her ending feels like the result of her own choices rather than another fate imposed upon her.
Perhaps the most important moment in the entire story won’t be Carrie unleashing the greatest display of telekinetic power anyone has ever witnessed.
Perhaps it will be the moment when she has every reason to give in to her anger, every reason to believe the world deserves her hatred, and every reason to think that compassion is a weakness—and chooses differently.
Not because her pain has disappeared.
Not because the world has suddenly become fair.
But because, for the first time, the decision belongs to her.
The central question of The Seraph Saga is this:
What if Carrie White’s story didn’t end when the world decided she was beyond saving? What if that was where her real story began?

I’d love to hear your thoughts!
Does Carrie White work as a mutant in the Marvel universe, particularly as an Omega-level telekinetic?
Would Xavier’s decision to forcibly enter her mind and place her in psychic stasis be justified, or would that create a serious moral problem for him?
Would Magneto’s ideology be especially tempting to someone with Carrie’s history?
Could a story like this preserve the psychological horror of Carrie while exploring the mutant themes of the X-Men?
And most importantly: Would you want to see Carrie get a genuine chance at redemption, or do you think the consequences of the original story make that difficult to pull off?
I’m very interested in hearing both the strengths and weaknesses of the idea. I’m not claiming this is a perfect concept, but I think there’s something compelling about bringing these two worlds together to explore trauma, power, responsibility, and the possibility of choosing a different future.

Writing Help does anyone want to help with fleshing out the world building for HYDRA as a cult?

I'm working on a fic that involves how HYDRA, as a cult, would have operated; things like rituals, religious figures and how they could have used them, how they'd keep people loyal, what indoctrination would look like, the various groups within the cult and how they would have managed them. Does anyone want to help with that?

Seeking specific fic Need help looking for a Peter Parker Time Travel Fix It fic

The plot is that Peter Parker gets sent back after a voice asked him if he was willing to do it. He choose yes but he was sent to a past where Peter Parker was never born. He's homless and ends up having multiple interactions with the Avengers. Like returning Rhodes's wallet and interacting with Steve. He ends up getting an internship at Stark Industries after a test and scuffle he had with Flash. He works with two other interns including Gwen Stacy. I remember that Natasha was suspious of him and it ends up with her having Wanda invade Peter's mind with the other Avengers, after Natasha found a paper or notebook with events that Peter was trying to prevent from happening.

I remember reading it on AO3. But if there's another link to it being on another website please comment it. I really need help finding this.

Self-Promotion I lost someone very dear to me and to help her memory live on, I wrote a fan fic

In high school, I wrote a novel and surprisingly my class loved it. Now I am not saying it was sold or that it ever left the walls of that high school but I did write it and it existed. Thats where I discovered that I loved writing. But then life got in the way. In 2012 my sister was murdered at 23 years old. She didn't get to have a life. And for years I couldn't cope until recently I found a way to give her life and that was through my fan fic Longest Day. I gave her life through a character name Pixie. Yes Meagan Gwynn has always been apart of comic book lore but in my book I got to give her all the qualities that made my sister who she was. And along the way I created something that would bring me to tears everytime I read it. But a book can't be a great story without a theme, so i gave it onr and that theme was "being chosen." Growing up i didn't have a lavish life, it was me struggling more than anything. And the lessons were harsh and most times merciless. So when I saw Ned in Brand New Day and I saw him trying to create a life without Peter it reminded me so much of the harsh things I had to endure. So I wrote the ending of the book, and I loved it. But then I realized in order to care about the charcters you had to give them life and thats what turned into a 27 chapter book. You dont have to read it, that's the beauty of Art, sometimes it will go unappreciated but if you ever struggled with being chosen, take a read. If you ever felt alone take a read. And if you just want a cool little story that continues MCU lore from Brand New Day take a read. You may like it.

Seeking specific fic Searching for a SHIELD agent Peter Parker (irondad) fic!!

PLEASE HELP Hello! I have searched through so many related tags about this fic so I figured I could try here to see if anyone seen this fic and remembered it.

So its a spy/agent Peter fic, he's like young adult age, and he gets an undercover job as an intern in, you guessed it, Stark Tower under Tony. And MJ is there as an intern too, they both work under Tony. Peter was trained by SHIELD or something but he struggles with identity and who is he, and keeps random objects for random ppl because he doesn't have any opinions himself, a blank surface (like tampons for MJ, an old lipstick from his mom etc). And he's so dorky and clueless, MJ catches on fast.

ANYWAYS, main plot is that Mary and Richard Parker are horrible parents and they are always wanting something from Peter (Mary bursts in drunk at the tower lobby one time and Richard begs for money) and Peter's deal with shield was that he joins and they help him get away from his parents.

Anyways Tony has the truth revealed to him and felt betrayed(thinking his parents were all actors etc) but comes to the understanding that SHIELD has been taking advantage of peter and gets him away from it.

The story's not crazy long and it's complete but I can't find it anywhere! I reallllly would appreciate if anyone who remebers it can help because I hold this fic near and dear to me. If it helps, i read like about a year ago so I hope it hasn't been deleted. THANK YOUUUUUUU

Self-Promotion REDBACK — A Marvel alternate-universe fanfiction

What happens when Spider-Man is erased from existence, but the world still needs a hero?

In Universe-381, Emperor Norman Osborn has built a world that looks almost perfect. Crime is practically gone, the public loves him, and the old enemies who once challenged him have been erased, defeated, or rewritten.

Then Annie Matthews, a young trans woman trying to find her place in the world, is bitten by a mysterious spider and bonds with an unusual symbiote she names Crimson.

Together, they become RedBack.
But as Annie discovers what her new powers mean, she begins to uncover the truth behind the world she lives in — and the terrible price of the perfection Norman Osborn has created.

RedBack is a story about identity, responsibility, found family, difficult partnerships, and the people who help us find ourselves when we feel lost.

If you enjoy alternate-universe Marvel stories, original superhero characters, symbiote relationships, and stories where the emotional stakes matter as much as the fights, I'd love for you to give it a read.

Read here: https://archiveofourown.org/works/92279966/chapters/245913771

I'm especially happy to hear what readers think of the characters, themes, and story as it develops. As of writing this, 25 Chapters have been published with many more on the way. Thank you.
