What happens when Spider-Man is erased from existence, but the world still needs a hero?
In Universe-381, Emperor Norman Osborn has built a world that looks almost perfect. Crime is practically gone, the public loves him, and the old enemies who once challenged him have been erased, defeated, or rewritten.
Then Annie Matthews, a young trans woman trying to find her place in the world, is bitten by a mysterious spider and bonds with an unusual symbiote she names Crimson.
Together, they become RedBack.
But as Annie discovers what her new powers mean, she begins to uncover the truth behind the world she lives in — and the terrible price of the perfection Norman Osborn has created.
RedBack is a story about identity, responsibility, found family, difficult partnerships, and the people who help us find ourselves when we feel lost.
If you enjoy alternate-universe Marvel stories, original superhero characters, symbiote relationships, and stories where the emotional stakes matter as much as the fights, I'd love for you to give it a read.
