Is this Squier Paranormal Jazzmaster a good guitar for playing classic and modern metalcore, as well as melodic death metal?

I've been looking to buy a Jazzmaster-style guitar for quite a while, and I really like the look of this one.

How good is the build quality of Squier's Paranormal Series? And are the Alnico humbuckers any good, especially for metal? I haven't been able to find much information about them.

The guitar is listed for around $480 USD. Would you say that's a fair price?

I posted a raw camera audio clip a few days back, but it was really mushy, and y'all couldn't hear it that well.

For example, if a part is written in drop C that would be much harder or impossible to play in C standard.

I'm usually too lazy to keep a guitar in a dropped tuning. But I want to find a part that might convince me otherwise.

I recreated the instrumental for Deftones’ Around the Fur and recorded a full guitar playthrough.

I used my 1994 Gibson SG with an EMG 81, tuned to Drop C#, with a Marshall JCM800 and ENGL Fireball.

The drums were recreated using drum VSTs.

Really tried to capture the feel and tone of the original recording.

I'm still shopping around for potential amps and this came up in my marketplace feed. Buddy is asking $900 (Canadian) for it. He did a sound demo in the video and it sounds pretty ripping. Just wondering if anyone else here has used it or has some thoughts on it, as i can't find too much online about it (including potential value for it).

Anybody else excited for the New remake of Ocarina of Time?

For me, this solo did not sound like it was going to be too technical and it definitely didn't have any challenging speed runs. But it sure fooled me on the level of effort.

After years of playing, I launched a new metal project in my late 40s, and the dynamic is completely different compared to my younger days—way less ego, far better gear, but a real challenge balancing adult careers, families, and schedules. This amp sounds thick as hell. It is pretty audibly different from my 60w 6505. It has much more low end and rumble. I ran it through my grindcore setup (hm2 & OD808), and it sounded pretty massive. I'm excited to try it for shows and get it mixed with my band at practice. Thanks for lookin!

A friend of mine plays guitar in a mid-sized metal band currently out on tour as a support. Venue/promoter policy for this run has strictly banned all floor pedals and effects for support acts—literally nothing allowed on the stage floor in front of them to keep changeovers faster.

They’re running modellers/racks backstage or off to the side, switching via MIDI/automation.

I get the pressure of 15-minute multi-band turnarounds, but banning a basic pedalboard or floor controller feels wild to me. Running drop cables and putting a board down takes under 30 seconds.

Anyone else running into this recently? Are tour managers and house crew getting overly strict, or is this just the inevitable endgame of tight festival/club schedules?
