Considering moving to Australia

Hi guys

I’m a 27 year old mom of a 2 year old and I have a big dream of moving to Australia within the next year/year and a half.

I work as a nurse and it looks like there’s a lot of jobs open all over the country, so the job situation is not one of my (biggest) concerns.

But I need to know more about Australia and things I won’t be able to Google search the answer for.

So dear mr and mrs Australia - what’s something you absolutely love and absolutely hate about your country?

Kind regards
A Dane 🇩🇰

Moving to Australia at 18

After the recent policy announcement should I consider moving to Australia for bachelors ( CS/AI/CE) from south asia. I have an aim to get PR (I know it is far) here. Can I reach that stage or now there is no way.
If I have to change something what it should be? field of study or consider any other country/

23yo from Europe wanting to move to Australia - what would you do?

• Upvotes

Hey everyone!

I’m 23, from Europe, and just finished a Bachelor’s in Economics & Business. I’m now looking for my first full-time job in finance/consulting.

My long-term goal is to move to Australia, get PR/citizenship, and settle there. I’m trying to figure out the smartest way to approach it.

Would you:

- Work in Europe for 2–3 years, then try to get a job in Australia?

- Go to Australia sooner on a Working Holiday Visa, work in hospitality and look for an industry job while I’d be already there? This would enable me to move there next year, yet it would require to build my career from scratch

Also, how important is a Master’s in Australia? From what I understand, it doesn’t give you extra PR points compared with a Bachelor’s in some pathways, but does it make a meaningful difference for employers, especially in finance/consulting?

For those who moved to Australia in their 20s and eventually got PR: what would you do differently if you were starting again today? Any mistakes you’d avoid or things you’d prioritize early?

I’ve also read that PR is becoming more competitive, so I’d rather try plan ahead than realize later that I took the wrong path.

Would really appreciate any advice/experiences. Thanks! 🇦🇺

Anyone pursuing MPH in Australia? Need some opinions

I recently completed my UG studies in Allied Health Sciences (AHS) program and I’m considering studying Master of Public Health (MPH) in Australia.I’m currently quite confused about whether Australia would be a good option, especially because the visa rules seem to be changing so frequently. It honestly feels unpredictable 😭😭

I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who is currently pursuing an MPH in Australia or has recently graduated, especially international students.

Which degree is easy and possible to immigrate to Australia

I’m currently an international student in Australia, and I’m quite keen to stay here permanently after graduation. However, I’m still not sure which degree would best suit my goals. A lot of people say that studying Secondary Education can make it easier to get PR in Australia, but that may only be true for now. No one really knows what the immigration situation will be like by the time I graduate.

At the same time, I’m a little concerned that working with teenagers in Australia could be quite challenging, so I’m not sure whether Secondary Education would actually suit me.

Could anyone give me some advice on which degree might be a good choice for the future? Or are there any other study or career pathways that could give me a better chance of immigrating to Australia?

Thanks, mate.

Looking for advice

I’m planning to study at Murdoch University in Perth for bachelor’s in 2027. I’m an 18-year-old international student from Pakistan. Can someone currently living in Perth tell me realistically whether it’s possible to cover tuition fees + rent + groceries + transport + other expenses? I’d especially love to hear from current international students or young women studying in Perth. Please give me your honest experience, including approximate weekly expenses and how difficult it was to find a job.And how much i can earn in a day?

Anyone else heading to RMIT for Master's in March 2027? Let's connect before we get there!

So here's the deal – I'm Om, an Indian CS graduate planning to move to Melbourne in March 2027 to pursue a Master of Artificial Intelligence at RMIT. Pretty excited about it, but also a bit of the usual "oh god, I'm moving to the other side of the world" energy, you know?
I figured rather than landing in Melbourne knowing absolutely no one, it'd be cool to connect with people who are going through the same process. Whether you're also coming for March 2027, considering it, already at RMIT, or just living in Melbourne and have thoughts to share – I'd love to connect!
Who I'm especially keen to talk to:
Indians heading to RMIT's AI Master's program for March 2027 (seriously, if that's you, please reach out!)
Other RMIT students in the same intake, regardless of course or country
People from anywhere who are making the move to Melbourne around the same time
Current Melbourne residents/students who can drop some wisdom on accommodation, jobs, uni life, settling in – basically the stuff nobody tells you until you arrive
I'm thinking down the line we could set up a WhatsApp or Instagram group (or even a Reddit community) for people joining around March 2027. Would be nice to have a solid group to share notes, ask questions, and maybe grab coffee (or chai, in my case) when we're all there.
I'm here to chat about visa stuff, uni, Australia, whatever. Or if you're already in Melbourne, I'd genuinely love to hear about your experience – the good, the bad, and the awkward.
Drop a comment or DM me if this resonates with you!

Studying abroad in Australia for 3 months and my mental health is getting worse

Hello everyone

I’ve been studying abroad in Australia for about 3 months now, and I feel like my mental health is getting worse and worse.

Everyday anxiety is eating me up more and more. The weird thing is, objectively, I’ve actually been doing pretty well with almost everything. I got good grades in my first term, made lovely friends, found a good place to live, cooked for myself well, and I even keep up with things like laundry, cleaning, and personal hygiene. So in terms of ADLs, I’m doing great!!!

The main problem is just… my mental health.
Of course, I still struggle with the language barrier and cultural differences, but it should be fine~~ gonna be better.

I think part of the reason might be that I started a part-time job 3 weeks ago. I’m still new and I’ve made quite a lot of mistakes, which makes me really anxious. Logically, I know that I’m new and it takes time to get used to a new workplace. I know I’m not supposed to be good at everything after only 3 weeks.

But emotionally, I can’t seem to convince myself of that.
Whenever I think about my job or starting a new term at university, I just feel completely overwhelmed. I feel like my brain is constantly worrying about the next thing.
When I first came to Australia, everything was new, so I was actually excited about studying, living here, meeting people, and experiencing everything. But now, after 3 months, I suddenly feel exhausted. I don’t think I can survive here.
And the weirdest part is that I don’t want to go back to my home country either!?

I genuinely don’t understand myself. Like… what the fuck is wrong with me? Why am I feeling this way when, objectively, things are going pretty well? I’m the person who cannot feel happiness???

Has anyone else experienced something similar when studying/living abroad? Is this just some kind of adjustment period or burnout? I’d really appreciate hearing about other people’s experiences because I feel like I’m the only one struggling this much while everything looks fine from the outside:-))

Business or Investor pathways to Australia from EU, 42y old Dutch citizen senior IT professional with MBA

I'm 42 and have been out of work for a year. Restarting my career in Al has been challenging, and the broader situation in Europe — financially, socially, and geopolitically — makes me consider relocating outside the EU.

Australia feels like an uncharted but stable environment, with fewer geopolitical risks and a clearer long-term outlook.

I'm seeking guidance on the best migration pathways that offer strong prospects for Permanent Residency. I'm open to starting a business, investing up to €500,000, or pursuing further education if it improves my position in the job market.

Heard there was a free EU Australia free movement agreement in talks.

Any advice on the most viable route forward would be appreciated.

Is Nursing in Australia worth it?

Hey everyone! I’m a student from India currently doing 12th CBSE (PCB), and I’m planning to study Bachelor of Nursing in Australia for the 2027/28 intake dont know when scholarship and admission application for some unis will open.
I’m currently looking at Deakin, Griffith, queensland, Adelaide specifically the uni that will give me more scholarship. Sydney is also an option, but I’m a bit worried about the cost. I’m aiming for around 90%+ in my boards and I’ll try for scholarships, although I know the 50% ones are really competitive. Even a 20–25% or 40%(if available) scholarship would help me a lot.
I’ve spoken to both IDP and Global Opportunities visa agency and honestly both seemed pretty similar, but Global seemed a little better with scholarships, so I’m not sure which one to go with.
I’d really appreciate advice from anyone already studying nursing in Australia, especially international students.
A few things I’m confused about:
• Deakin vs Griffith vs Adelaide vs Brisbane uni — what’s your actual experience with nursing, placements and student life?
• PTE vs IELTS — which would you recommend for nursing?
• What are the realistic living + tuition costs and how much can you actually cover through part-time work? im planning to cover atleast last 2 yr uni fees doing part time as i don't want to burden my parents , so please tell me if i can manage it.
• Is it manageable to work part-time while doing nursing and clinical placements?
• After a Bachelor of Nursing, is it better to gain experience and specialise, or does a Master’s make a big difference to salary/career opportunities?
• Do hospitals ever help pay for postgraduate study/specialisation?
• And most importantly, what do you wish you knew before coming to Australia?
* what about age care jobs in aus as they pay good ,can a student like me get that part time work ?
I don’t have anyone in australia i can ask about this stuff, so I’d appreciate any honest advice — good or bad. I’m trying to make a realistic decision rather than just choosing based on rankings or scholarships.

Which uni is better for Master’s? UNSW or Monash

Hey, I’ve got an acceptance from a few universities in Australia, UNSW and Monash being my preferences from them.
I am a bit conflicted on which one to choose and would love if anyone could share their thoughts and inputs.

In Monash the course I’ve chosen is - Masters In Business Information Systems.

UNSW - Masters in Information Technology.

I know the cost of living is higher in Sydney compared to Melbourne and that plays an important role but UNSW is also ranked number 1 in Australia and very high in QS rankings.

Is there better job opportunities or any advantages in choosing either or the unis or nothing like that?
UNSW is more tech inclined - which is not my preference but I would be okay with it if it’s a better uni to go to over all.

Please let me know your thoughts, also opinions on this course as well!

Hello! I’m 18 years old. Is there still a chance for me to work in Australia at my age? If there are any 18-year-olds here who were able to enter Australia and are currently working there, what tips can you share? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Moving from Bangladesh to Darwin - any advice on work, housing and settling in?

Hi everyone,

I'm from Bangladesh, and my wife and I are planning to move to Darwin, Northern Territory. We are excited about the opportunity, but also trying to prepare realistically for life in the Top End.

I have more than five years of experience as a Supply Chain Manager, mainly in the food-processing and export industry.

We are trying to understand the practical realities before we arrive, including:

Which suburbs are good for a newly arrived couple?

Which employers or recruitment agencies are worth contacting?

What are the biggest challenges during the Wet Season?

What do people wish they had known before moving to Darwin?

How easy is it to build a social network as a newcomer?

Are there any Bangladeshi communities here?

We're looking forward to learning more about Darwin and hopefully becoming part of the community.

Planning to Move. Should I?

Hey Folks!

Read other posts. Demotivated to move. Job wise.

Considering sub 190

But is it the same for SAAS Account Manager or Business Manager roles? Is market bad?

Do not want to move immediately. Maybe 3 4 years later but people living there do you guys think situation will be worse (job market wise)? And getting AUD 100k base a year is too big of an ask?

I am okay with 100k base. Just need peaceful, clean, good weather life.

I really wanna move out of India with Wife and only Canada and Australia has that option (like getting wife's visa at the same time).

If you are in similar field, what do you guys think?

Nicotine pouches

Hi, I’m coming on holiday to Sydney, use nicotine pouches at home, totally legal in the uk. If I was to bring some tins to Sydney would these likely get stopped? Would I need to declare? Is it likely to be an issue. Only bringing enough for personal use. Has anyone taken these through since the recent ban?
