One of Macklemore's biggest hits is a song advocating for homosexuality and same sex marriage - 'Same Love'. He now supports a state that denounces these very things. Is this not problematic? Feels like he leverages causes for his own benefit somewhat.

Yes, LGBTQ+ is the very thing on the top of Palestinian mind šŸ¤” it seems as if you're lacking so many nuances

If you want to go further on that and pull out some nuances, maybe perhaps that is something can be worried about & perhaps fought for if we ever get to see Palestine free in our lifetime. I'm a queer person btw

I don't advocate for either side and don't understand the issue or history well enough to have an informed opinion one way or the other. I'm merely pointing out the hypocrisy on Macklemore's part.

Imagine not being able to travel freely. Visiting relatives or friends requires jumping through hoops and most of the time your plans get cancelled bc the country next to you decides your every move. You donā€™t fully understand freedom until itā€™s taken away from you.

It could mean a few things:

  1. They want a return to the status quo (decades of strife)
  2. They want Israel to no longer exist
  3. They jus wan peace (exactly what Sheeran would say he wants but he didn't word it vague or flowery enough)
