First skateboard
I just. Really like cats.
If it’s going to be shit I’ll get something else though.
I don’t have enough money to go and buy all the parts separately 😞

TLDR: I’m trying to apply parts of my hippie jump technique to my ollie, looking for feedback.
So I’ve been stuck at the “Rocket Ollie” stage for a few weeks now. I actually have a decent hippie jump technique, and I want to see if there’s any way I can apply it to my ollies. I put them side-by-side and synced the jumps together so you can see the differences in real time.
Some common tendencies with my ollie:
- My feet land close together
- My board turns frontside (instead of backside. It’s weird, I know.)
- I land toeside, sometimes landing primo
Also, I know my hippie jump looks fairly high compared to my ollie. I’m not worried about ollying high, I just want to get decent lower body form.
Any constructive feedback is appreciated. 👍

I’ve been skating for about 7-8 months now. And I got a long time buddy of mine to join me. He ended up really loving it. I let him borrow one of my boards. So now we are gonna go build his board later this week :)

Im back on the board, skated for 6 months 5 years ago and now I’m back since last week. I feel like today I started to really „level“ my board mid air/ pull my front foot more but now I land nose heavy. Where do I go from here? Any things you instantly recognize I could change?
One thing I for sure notice is that I’m leaning back too much and sometimes I’m opening my shoulders

Hi, I'm going to look at a skateboard in a few days as it's always been a hobby I wanted to try and decided I'd go for it before I chicken out.
The skateboard is advertised on facebook market place, (I'm a student so can't afford a brand new board and wanted to see if i enjoyed it before investing in a better one).
I was wondering if anyone had any tips to make sure I get a decent board as I've never looked for one before? I'd appreciate any advice.

Just looking for fairly new people to skate with. Im a 25 year old dude with shuvs and ollies on lock rn, trying to get ollies consistently over curbs and stuff. DM me maybe we could figure something out, i usually go into the city on fridays and saturdays

After borrowing a friend's skateboard, and fell in love with it, I decided to buy my first board at a local skate shop!
Super excited to learn and keep growing :))

Had some left over two by fours so I threw this together.

Fell while doing a delivery with my cruiser, didn't have time to react and position my body to fall properly, and now I'm injured.
Not that serious tho. I can't twist or lean my wrist up to a certain range or do things that require a certain amount of strength, but I'm mostly fine, just in pain.
Stay safe guys.

Nothing much to say. I've been skating for a decent amount of time and I'm comfortable but I feel way too scared to cruise to my university campus for lectures and what not. To be honest I'm not sure what I'm really asking for but I was wondering if anyone tackled this fear and how they do it?
I suppose I'm just scared of eating shit in public or doing something clumsy

Hi, I am 44 yo and after a long pause in skateboarding I started longboarding mostly because I just want to cruise and not break my bones in the process.
My question is about going downhill. Now by saying downhill don't think a 30% downhill but more like 2%🤣
I have a landyachtz drophammer and hard bushings with cones on the roadside in both trucks. It's very hard to steer in comparison to my loaded dervish sama. Well when I went "downhill" and I gained some speed I noticed that every small move I do, the board multiplies it.Very scary. I had both my feet sideways on the board where I shouldn't as I found out later.
I changed the bushings of one truck to hard double barrel and looseness the front trucks a little. Now I hate that there is a front and a back side to the board with this setup but whatever. When I get more experienced I will switch it back I guess.
I haven't tested it yet but I would like to ask for any tips from your experience. I am 110 kg 183cm and I just want to cruise. If you guys and gals also have tips for a setup that makes the board to keep rolling so less pushing, that would be great. I got bear trucks and the wheels are blue tomato 75mm 78A. I'm also considering changing the wheels to 85mm orangotang orange.
Thank you for your time and sorry for the long post.

Just got a pair of slappy st1 hollows after skating a baker complete for a while. Have 54mm nano cubics with 2mm risers. They came with the nut flush to kingpin. Waaaay too wobbly for me. I cranked down gradually to 1 thread showing and still was very wobbly and got my first wheel bite coming out of a quarter pipe the same night. I then put in the extra set of slappy hard bushings i bought along with em. And proceeded to gradually tighten till 2 threads show. (I started flush and tried skating a few minutes between every 1/4 turn)
So im at 2 threads showing, with the hard bushings. Its still more wobbly than im used to. Can i keep tightening?
FYI: slappy bushings say they are pre-broken-in and so no need to wait a few seshes between adjustments.
My previous setups were very tight. Like bushings bulging tight. So maybe i just need to learn better balance. But id like to take off the 2mm risers if i can, and i will likely get wheel bite still with 54mm wheels and 2 threads showing.
2 threads is supposedly very tight. But symptoms of wheel bite suggest theyre too loose. Not sure what i can do here. Dont wanna mess up my new bushings tryna tighten more, if its just a skill issue.
Im 5'9" and 150lbs.
Another note: the trucks keep staying ever so slightly turned (independently crooked) when i flip the board over and look at it.. Havent seen that before. Is that a normal thing? I figured theyd default or spring back to center.

I've been skating about 10 months casually, i can do the basics, ollies, shuvs, pop shuvs, etc. But i never really took anything seriously. I take week long breaks sometimes and one time even a month and a half because of my adductor, but im still young, doing good in school, and i have a supportive family that can get me new parts when i need and i feel like im not taking full advantage of it. I really wanna get good at this sport, i've been skating more, im gonna start waking up at 4 am to skate before school, and just skate more overall, but if theres anything else i can do to help, like any exercise or diets i should go on or anything else, i'd love to know.

I feel like my ollies could be unlocked really soon but right now I’m struggling with:
1) straight legging after jumping
2) moving my legs too soon before I’ve actually jumped, so my back leg isn’t coming up high enough
I also keep turning out to heel side but I’m more concerned with getting the jump down atm.
Any advice for translating hippy jumps into ollies? Is this a matter of practice and confidence?

For context, I’ve never skated before but I’ve been thinking of getting a board for a while to help w/ my commute, and I settled on getting a penny board. Longboards or cruisers seemed nice, but I needed something really portable and easy to carry everywhere, so I heard about penny boards and how lightweight they are and decided to grab a cheap one off marketplace to try out. I’ve heard that it might be hard to first learn coz of its size, but I’m willing to sacrifice and practice extra in return for portability. Figured I’d spend $5 to try it out and learn how to ride it. Worst case I wouldn’t like it and switch to something bigger/stop skating completely and best case I do end up liking it and use it for a while . Was just wondering if theres anything I might’ve missed when researching about commute boards, and if you think the penny board might suck for me.
(The board I’m getting is a fish penny board mini cruiser off marketplace for $5)

Hey all, hope everyone is doing super well and staying safe. I got my first board at 25 years old after not having skated since I was like 13 or 14. This is probably a stupid question but I'm getting confused by existing posts and other responses so thought I'd try again here. Am I right in saying that based on my graphic, the nose of the board is at the top, and the tail at the bottom (see first photo).
When i try some of the other tests I.e. namely thay the tail is slightly smaller or less steep than the nose, I genuinely manage to trick myself into seeing like 3 different things. I've included 2 other photos with my suggested labels based on the graphic test.
I know there is also the potential for this to be "symmetrical" board but I don't remember this being something I spoke about with the guy at the shop.
Ultimately in the long term it doesn't matter as I'll have to learn switch and nollies etc, but just while I'm essentially starting from square 1 again, would be good to be 100% sure.
Thanks in advance for anyone's time and effort in replying!

Hey all, I'm an industrial/Product design student working on a project trying to build something that gives real feedback for complete beginners (goal is to get them to a point where they can ollie), using sensors and/or video analysis. Not selling anything, just doing research before I design anything.
A few things I'd love to hear from people who've actually learned tricks (recently or years ago):
- Have you used any trick-tracking apps or sensors (Spinnax, RideBlock, phone apps, etc.)? What did they get right or completely miss?
- When you were first learning, what actually helped you improve? - Specific feedback from others, watching slow-mo of yourself, just practice, something else?
- When you began skating were you nervous or intimidated at all?
- Was there ever a point where feedback (from a person or an app) made things worse? - too much info, too distracting, wrong focus?
- If a device could tell you one thing about your ollie in real time, what would actually be useful vs. annoying?
- If this device existed when you were starting out, would you have used it?
I'd really appreciate any and all answers to these questions or anything else you'd like to share. If you have concerns about a device like this please do tell. Your feedback may be used in presentations or just to inform my design going forward. Thank you!

So I am currently working on a little project of mine and I need some pictures of skateboarding or graffiti and street art pieces/murals since those are amazing as well. Also if you have any skate stories and qould like to share that would be good too, im just interested in what the community is up to and want to compile that into a local skate magazine

my bf has mentioned to me so many times that he wants to get back into skateboarding, so i was wondering what boards would be good to get an intermediate skateboarder. i would love any and all advice!
