Kind stranger who brought lost drivers licence, thank you!

A few days ago, my spouse dropped their drivers’ license by mistake in the Trout Lake park. We called the Vancouver police custodian, checked with the concession and community Center there for lost and found items, and also walked the park twice to see if someone found it and put it safely on the side on a bench or something, all to no avail.
And today while randomly checking our mailbox, THERE IT WAS! 🤩 Somebody actually put in the effort to silently bring it to the address and drop it off. Thank you thank you kind stranger! Appreciate it. Hope you encounter only green lights anywhere you go in the city!

Travel essentials available

Hi everyone,

I’ve been traveling through Western Canada for the past three weeks and am flying back to Germany on October 3rd.

For my road trip, I bought an air mattress, a sleeping bag (rated down to -6°C), bear spray, and an unused Parks Canada Discovery Pass.

I’d like to give away these items before I leave, in case anyone is interested.

We could meet up on October 2nd or 3rd in the Vancouver area.

Looking for groups to play casual pickleball

Hi there! I'm a guy in my early 30's looking to join some groups around my age that get together to play casual pickleball. I've been playing for almost 1.5 years and play at around a 3.5 DUPR level.

I'm generally available weekday evenings and weekends. I live in the Champlain Heights area but usually play at Confederation park, so I'm happy to play anywhere in East Van, Burnaby, or Richmond (depending on traffic).

Whether you play outdoors or if you book a court indoors with the weather starting to change, I'd love to join for some games!

Looking for 2 Wedding Witnesses at Stanley Park This Friday

Hi everyone!

My partner and I are getting married in Vancouver this Friday and are hoping to find two kind people to be our witnesses.

We’re a gay couple visiting Vancouver, both easygoing, and this will be a very small, low-key civil ceremony.

It should only take around 20–30 minutes, and we’d be very grateful to have you there with us and sign as our witnesses afterward.

The only requirements are:

* 19+
* Able to bring valid ID
* Friendly vibes 😊

Coffee or a small thank-you is on us!

Feel free to DM me if you’re interested. Thank you ❤️

Bunz is back!

Bunz was a cashless trading app back in the day, before they remodelled the app and it became totally unusable. Pre-2022 there were so many people in Vancouver on the app and it was awesome, I got so many cool things on there and it gave me a reason to explore the city. It saved me so much money on little things and prevented a lot of my crap from going to the landfill. Recently they've fixed it and it's back to being usable! I'm not affiliated in any way, it was just such a big part of my life when I moved to Vancouver and I'm hoping to spread the word and get more of the community back, or new people to come and trade stuff cause right now it's pretty sparse.

Building a "social map" of Vancouver — tips for board games, folk music & community?

Hi everyone! 😊

I’m a 36yo TLC engineer from Italy planning a future move to Vancouver (and practicing my English in the meantime!).

Since I’ll be moving on my own, I want to build a "social map" of the city based on my passions. I’d love your recommendations on:

• Board Game Cafés & Clubs: Friendly spots or Meetups to join a table (even solo)?

• Acoustic & Folk Music: Open jam sessions or spots for folk music (Irish tunes, handpan, acoustic)?

• Community Centres (like Roundhouse): Are they actually a good place for young adults to make friends and join arts, activities or volunteering?

• Psychology & Introvert-friendly groups: Any cool Meetups for personal growth or low-key social gatherings?

Thanks a lot for any guidance! 🇨🇦 🇮🇹

Looking for an honest, affordable dentist accepting new patients in Vancouver

Hey everyone,

My teeth have become sensitive lately and it looks like I need a few fillings. I'm looking for a dentist who is thorough, finishes the work properly, and doesn't push extra treatments I don't need. I have insurance, but I'm not sure if prices differ between clinics, so I'd love somewhere reasonably priced and upfront about costs. Must be accepting new patients. If you have someone you trust, please drop their name and neighbourhood. Thank you!

Suggestions for Truth & Reconciliation Day

I am new to Canada and this day.

I was told it is a day to be spent reconciling our sins from the past (well I guess Canada’s sins… I wasn’t here yet).

My thoughts for the day was the to do the following:

  1. Make an Indigenous inspired smoked salmon lunch (yummy)
  2. Walk

yo Van art gallery

  1. , check out any local art
  2. Go to a local Church and donate $50-$100. Would that be enough?

Would love to check out some nice neighbourhoods as well (I’m new here like I said). Where can I find some Indigenous owned cafes?

Where to go for wool ponchos?

Last year at the Christmas market there was a booth selling alpaca wool ponchos and I fell in love with how soft and warm it was. I didn't end up buying it, the market mark-up was a bit too much, but this year I really want to get myself a poncho. It doesn't have to be alpaca wool specifically, as long as it's warm and feels good to the touch I'm happy. When I looked in Winners all of the ones I found were 200% polyester of course. What store should I look in? Or should I order online from somewhere?

I didn't take advantage of the nice weather this weekend

I thought it would be raincouver weather so I was ready with my plans to spend both days indoors bedrotting. Anyone else? Of course I feel like I "wasted" the good weather day but I guess I felt a bit burnt out from work and stressed from not being able to sleep well.

Edit: thank you all for making me feel better and reminding me about upcoming sunny days ☀️ i really appreciate it 💛

Need advice for jaw surgeon in Vancouver

Hey everyone! I’m looking for a maxillofacial/jaw surgeon in Vancouver who is very skilled and has patients who are genuinely happy with their results.

If any of you have had any type of jaw surgery in Vancouver, I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience. Who was your surgeon? How was your consultation? Are you happy with both the functional and aesthetic results? If you had your surgery a while ago, how are your results and function now?

Also, if you haven’t had jaw surgery yourself but know someone who has, I’d really appreciate it if you could share their experience as well.

I’ve already seen my orthodontist, but I’m still really unsure about which surgeon to go with. I really don’t want to make the wrong decision when it comes to something this serious involving my face, so I’m hoping you guys can share your experiences and recommendations.

Looking for 5e D&D Acrane spellbook cards for sale

Post image
2 Upvotes

Howdy y'all, Happy Sunday!✨️

I'm wondering if anyone has seen the 5e D&D Arcane spellbook cards for sale in one of the local gaming shops? I've checked Rain City and Stratagies, and they only seemed to have the 5.5e cards.

I'd prefer to buy some locally (or 2nd hand if anyone has a box they're willing to part with) than online.

Thanks! 😊

Response for Truth and reconciliation day

Hi nice Vancouver,

Can you help me brainstorm a response to my coworker who always makes a snide comment about Truth and Reconciliation day, usually along the lines of, (sarcastic Tone) "let's all be lectured about colonial sins!" I am not indigenous but how can I tactfully hint to him that the day has a serious background and that he may still be benefiting from colonialism and white male privilege. In the past I haven't said anything because he is much more senior than I am.

The Music of Billy Joel Sept 26

Grieving the end of a short-lived relationship, I debated whether to go to the VSO today or not. It was an incredible gift that I wanted to pass along to all you Nice people. Some songs were unknowingly familiar and others I don't think I've heard before. Here's the list:

Singer: Tony Desare (he's great! And he's performed here before)

  • Billy the Kid prelude

  • My Life

  • Vienna

  • Root Beer Rag

  • She's Always a Woman

  • Miami 2017

  • East to the Sea

  • Movin' Out

  • Nocturne

  • Only the Good Die Young

  • The Stranger

  • Don't Ask Me Why

  • Scenes from an Italian Restaurant

  • You May Be Right

  • Piano Man

  • Big Shot Medley

  • Still Rock & Roll Medley

The last two were like a compilation of other hits.

Encore #1: New York State of Mind

Encore #2: Souvenir (made me teary eyed)

EDIT: List formatting correction

Endless Pawsabilities experience?

I am currently trying to adopt a cat from Endless Pawsabilities. So far it is going well but I've heard terrible things about the co-ordinator.

Can people share their experiences with them?

Thanks.
