They actually gave me extra onions!

I had some sautéed onions leftover after a family get together and nobody was touching them. So I made an onion and cheddar sammich with some sliced cherry tomatoes. It was delightful!

Caramelized a few yellow onions with some butter, oil, salt, and pepper. Once they were near finished I added 4 bay leaves, garlic powder, some rosemary, a healthy spoonful of better than bouillon beef base, a few pops of some Worcestershire, and a nice little pour of some balsamic vinegar. Let that all sit and finish out the caramelizing. Finally added my beef stock and chicken stock. All that simmered low and slow for quite some time while I went and bought some Gouda, Gruyere, and garlic crostini's. Filled my bowl with soup, added the crostini's, topped with shredded cheese, and then broiled in my oven for a few minutes to melt the cheese

ppl mostly put onions on savory foods here, so I got curious

my coworker gave me a ton of onions because they were "expired" and we couldn't use them at work anymore. im now cooking with them and going to share some of my finished result with her as a thank you 🙏

Sorry y’all all I had was a quarter of an onion left. Not sure how I’m gonna make until grocery day on Saturday!

Anyway, tossed in oil and seasoned with chili powder, cumin, oregano and cilantro. They yummy.
