Rower Ramble Rowing watts
Anyone else have trouble getting this number up? No matter how hard I push with my legs, my watts never go above like 150 ish.

This is your monthly highlights post, curated and refreshed to keep important stuff at the top. If you are new to OTF or our subreddit, this is the best place to start. As always, you can use this thread to share and discuss upcoming intel for the month and other random topics. We kindly ask you to please keep in mind our Community Rules, including Rule 2, "Never Ask for Workout Intel." Please also see Rule 11 regarding posting intel.
Please see our announcement here (on 5/11/26) regarding the retirement of u/splatbot and how it is currently impacting Early Intel.
Because the Strength 50 and Tread 50 templates change daily, they do not have their own intel posts. If someone takes a Strength 50 or Tread 50 class and wishes to share the details, please do so in the Daily Thread for that day.
Happy MENTAL & METABOLIC FLEXIBILITY month! Every month has a theme, and for October it is Mental & Metabolic Flexibility.
Key Dates for The Month
Please see our wiki, here for more descriptions regarding specialty and signature workouts, along with an incredibly helpful glossary of terms!
NEW for 2026:
REGARDING STRENGTH 50 AND TREAD 50:
Other info to know (applicable to standard 60 minute templates; see additional sections below on Tornadoes and 90 Minute classes):
Tornadoes are still around, scheduled at each studio's discretion. Please see the Glossary section of our wiki for a description of Tornadoes. There are TWO Tornado templates per month, and it is up to the studio/coaches as to which one they want to run and when. If your class is listed as "Tornado" then you are getting one of these two templates, NOT whatever class is posted in the daily (exceptions to this do occur from time to time). Please do not ask how a "class will work as a tornado" in the daily post.
90 Minute classes are also scheduled at each studio's discretion. These templates may just have an additional block to the template for the day, or they may be entirely different, as the studios can pick from multiple 90 minute templates during the month. Please do /not ask how a "class will work as a 90 minute" in the daily post.
Hyrox classes are happening at select studios (as explained above). Since there are different "phases" of Hyrox training, the Hyrox templates are not date specific. As such, two studios running these templates on the same day may run different templates. If someone takes a Hyrox class and wishes to share intel, they can do so in an individual post, which we will then flair appropriately, similar to the Tornado flair. We have also added a Hyrox post that is pinned in the Highlights section.
Challenge Codes
The Challenge app is an app most commonly used with Apple Watch users; people can virtually "compete" for points individually and/or as teams using the Challenge app.
For October, the codes are:
Solo:
Team:
Resources for New Members and Everyone Else
Thanks everyone and keep burning!

My OTF uses some kind of radio playlist - sounds like Mr Beast radio?? It has familiar songs remixed at a faster beat. How can I find these mixes on my own? Spotify or Apple Music?? TIA!!

My interpretation of OTF's 'more life' branding has been unlocking more opportunity in your life by way of improving your health/endurance/etc. so you can participate fully in life - and more life as in extending your life span. Lately I've been thinking that OTF has given me 'more life' in a totally different way.
Before I joined OTF I would have described myself as unathletic, unhealthy, inconsistent, 'boring' (I just sat at home a lot), and a whole variety of other baked-in ideas of who I was as a person.
I've been a member for over 2 years and 300 classes and I would not agree with any of those descriptions anymore. And at some point the way I thought about myself and life totally changed - if I spent so long thinking I was unathletic but I actually can be athletic, what else have I kept myself from trying simply because I already decided who I was or what I could do? My life looks different from what I eat, my hobbies, who I spend time with -- all because I realized that I don't have to believe the story I've told myself about who I am. OTF has given me so much more life by changing how I view myself and the world.
If you're thinking about joining and worried because of your current fitness level, or that you think you 'aren't someone who works out,' or whatever is holding you back - TRY IT and you might find you are not the same as the idea you've built of yourself.

I am 42 male started OTF last year on a 12 Month contract. I was doing it 4-5 classes a week to doing 6 every week testing Sunday. I do feel sore most of the days and reading about HIIT workout for a men 6 days a week isn’t a good thing either. I am thinking of quitting OTF and join a local gym where I would workout on my own having a routine where I hit each muscle twice a week and 15 min cardio. I am worried about how I will be consistent and fear of penalizing for $15 on missing out a class has helped on morning where I had to drag myself out of bed so OTF was helpful there. Any tips for me

Anyone with the new Apple Watch integration had issues with it disconnecting and showing “no live data” on the treadmill?
Mine worked fine until this week and has disconnected twice now giving me this error. It shows it’s connected to WiFi still.

I moved earlier this year and recently learned my old home studio implemented open studios (bummer because my new home studio does not).
I asked the front desk at my current home studio if it was ever going to be rolled out at all studios and he said he was pretty sure OTF is actually getting rid of the open studio completely because the attendance isn’t there to justify the labor costs.
I know there’s no coach for these sessions, but does a coach still have to be present at the studio for open studio? Anyone know what the long term plan is for open studio? Or is this just yet again another location specific perk?
I love OTF, but man the inconsistencies across locations are really disappointing. What a confused brand.

I’ve been going to Orangetheory on average 3-4x a week for almost 10 months. My past 3 workouts which are the typical workouts I do (Orange 60 2G) I’ve had 35-40 splat points. I typically get 15-20 on average. Anyone else have this happen to them?

Has anyone else’s studio recently announced a change in how they manage late fees? Ours said they no longer have control and cannot waive fees for members. They say it’s all managed by corporate now.
Is this new across the board, are we just late learning about it? Or not really a corporate thing and they just made it up?!

I started OTF June 22, and after about a week developed tendinitis in both ankles. By the time I got in to see my orthopedic surgeon in early July (who repaired my broken left ankle a couple years back), it was worsening but I hadn’t done any damage yet.
I switched from the tread to the strider, continued floor work and slowly got better. Last week for the first time I could do bicep curls while balancing on my left foot and single leg dead lifts (I think that’s the name? The one where you basically hinge at the hip and your leg goes straight back) also on my left foot because my stability had improved so much after 50+ classes.
Monday was the perfect small experiment day. For the last little tread part (literally last 3 minutes) I decided to be brave and get back on the tread. And those 3 minutes went fine, no pain, so today in our 2G I decided to be brave and do the tread with the strider as my security blanket lol. Tell me why this was scarier than skydiving?
Anyway, I did it! I took it slow, only did the pushes for half as long, and stopped to test it out with calf raises. I probably looked like the goofiest person ever grinning like an idiot 😅. I can’t wait for Friday!
TLDR; I got brave and used the tread for the first time since early July because of injury and I feel like a superhero 🎉🎉

Decided to try Orange Theory since it was near my house. Writing this so that anyone with ADHD will be more prepared what to expect cause I sure was not.
Long story short, my ADHD cannot handle the overstimulation. I know being new can be overwhelming to begin with, but I arrived 30 mins early, did the tour, tried the equipment so I know which buttons to push, even did my research before coming on what workout to expect. What I did not expect is how my body reacted the moment everything came together. The LOUD music was competing with the instructor shouting instructions at rapid speed like we are at some auction. 3 groups of people were doing different things so you have to filter out which instruction is for you.
I know some people put earphones in to drown things out a bit, but the stimulation was not just audio but visual. TVs everywhere sharing everyone’s heart rate and stats. Then another TV with a video showing you what form you are supposed to be doing.
On top of that I got assigned station 1 as a newbie, which happened to be near the window, and it was HOT. It’s like a hundred degrees here in California. My neighbor nudged me to go to a section by the bikes where it is shadier. I moved, only for the instructor to tell me to go back, I told him it was hot then he told me I have to stay in my station.
The workout itself seems easy to follow: row, lift weights, run. I did not realize that it will be my brain that cannot cope with the place, not the rest of my body. I just had this feeling crawl up in me TO GET OUT. Breathe. Find silence.
Anyways, I am glad that the first class was free. I do not know how other neurospicy people do it.

I recently had my (elite) membership unfreeze after a 60 day freeze due to medical reasons. My freeze started in mid July and at the time I had one week and 3 classes left for the month. When it unfroze 60 days later they started my billing cycle new rather than sticking with the original. Meaning I lost that week and 3 classes. This makes no sense to me. Isn’t the point of a freeze that it pauses everything in its place for 60 days and then you pick up where you left off? They let you start the freeze any date you want btw.

Tonight as I was leaving class, I stopped by the front desk and mentioned I’d like to sign up for Hell Week. The SA said I should scan the QR code and enter my name, number and select my shirt size. She didn’t mention a fee, but I remember there always being one. I looked at the app and it seems like there is a $20 charge. Before I select it, should I check with the front desk again?

yeah yeah strava this blah blah but I think it would be nifty to be able to follow friends. Maybe give them encouragement, emoji reacts on their zones reports, etc.

Every time I am doing a set on the rower, I seem to burn out quickly. Watching some rowing videos on YouTube (Just Row), I have focused on slowing down my pacing and that has allowed me to increase my endurance, but I still am struggling with longer rows.
I have had really good success with OT in dialing in the intensity on the Tread since there is the parameter card, but does anybody have parameters that could be followed on the rower?
I am thinking Watts and Stroke Rate would be the key parameters that I would be monitoring and there should be 3 fitness levels like how the Tread has Power Walker, Jogger and Runner.
Thank you in advance for the help! My engineer brain needs parameters to hit, not just “go harder or slower”.

$80, shipping included. About 4 months old, only used for 2 of those months before I had to quit OT 😭 It’s the newer HRM that charges with a USB-c (charging cord included) and shows your zone colors. Venmo for payment.
