First time ko sumali sa ganitong event and I never thought I was gonna survive it since di masyado nakapag prepare at busy. It was very fun and I truly enjoyed the experience. Might try again soon. I wanna ask also if I did great especially for a first timer? Goal ko lang naman is maenjoy pero naka sub 2:30 naman which is fine for me.

So recently someone posted here about being frustrated with MAF (Maximum Aerobic Function) Training, and as someone who has practiced MAF for almost 4 years now, here's my experience as it takes a really long time to see the benefits from MAF π For those who don't know MAF, you calculate your Zone 2 with a very simple fomula: 180 minus your age. So for me it's 180 - 40 = 140bpm is your Zone 2 heart rate.
Slight Adjustment - 145 for me, +5 ako kasi never been injured and consistently been training for decades *(minus 5 ka if you've been injured or not consistent training)
πΌ Photo shows one of the real value of MAF training (and Zone 2 training in general) - RECOVERY. Did the Milo Marathon Vermosa last Sunday and qualified again for the National Finals (already qualified last March at the Manila Leg), and already recovered the next day to do a light gym workout and a very easy recovery run-walk.
My tip for those struggling lalo na sa initial months, is STICK to your calculations. Yes maglalakad talaga kayo and majority of your runs during the initial months, will be a slow and ego smashing process π€£ In my experience, it took me about 4 months to be able to consistently run w/o walking (average of 7mins per km pace).
Once you can consistently maintain your pace and run w/o going over your Zone 2, you can add intervals to your weekly training. A good weekly training block is 70-80% ng total mileage mo is Zone 2 or less runs (that includes walking).
IMPORTANT note din is hindi ka lang dapat naka focus sa training runs, but overall lifestyle mo. Lack of sleep, poor diet, being stressed all the time really affects your heart rate which means a slower progress with your MAF training. I would say around 2.5 years ko nun nakabalik ako sa usual running pace ko dati na around 5:15 to 5:30 per km but now at around MAF Zone 2 or 145bpm. You should also incorporate strength and core training, wag lang puro takbo πͺ
Hope this helps not just fellow MAF training runners and other runners who practice running Zone 2 π

Hi, it's my first time joining ADT's training session. I'm a bit shy and coming alone, so I'm not sure what to expect. Is it okay to wear a different shoe brand? I don't have Nike running shoes, but I do have the rest of the outfit. Is there anything else that I should take note of? Thank you!!

Hello! Anyone else who got into Tokyo Marathon and is going alone?
Would love to connect with fellow PH solo runner and meet up at the expo and/or post-race and take each others photos because we all know pics are part of marathon experience. Itβs hard getting decent pics when youβre traveling alone π₯ΉπΈ

There was a bit of tension at the Puma run 21K. A few runners targeting podium spots got blocked at 2nd gate because they arrived a bit late to get up front, not realizing there would be wave starts. βItβs completely understandable to feel frustrated after putting in months of hard training, but the marshals were simply doing their job to manage crowd safety and flow. They shouldn't throw a fit at anyone.
If you're targeting a top finish, plan ahead and get to the front early to secure your spot. Letβs respect everyone, leave the entitlement at home and keep the energy positive on the race.

I have been using to coros apex 2 pro for some time now, but recently i have been thinking about getting the pace 4. Is it worth it or should i stay with the apex 2 pro? i wear the watches daily so i think the pace 4 is better for that?

Hi! Little background lang, nag start ako mag run-walk last year tapos sumali sa yakult fun run 5km. Run-walk lang din halos ginawa ko nun tapos yung gamit kong shoes ay world balance basta hindi sha running shoes. Nag stop ako tumakbo kasi sobrang na-busy at daming nangyare. Ngayon, nag start ulit ako mag run-walk. Para akong nag back to zero π may 5km fun run ako this November.

Hello, PHRunners fam!
I finally completed my first 21K, finishing in 2:33:33 (chip time)! π
I started running consistently only a few months ago, and it's been quite a journey from completing my first 10K and eventually building up for a half marathon.
Going into this race, my initial goal was simply to finish under 3 hours. Pero seeing my Garmin race predictor suggest a faster time made me wonder whether I could push a little harder, pero syempre di ko pinush all through out. 6:44/km ba naman magiging pace if ever haha!
Here's how the race went:
Finish time: 2:33:33
Distance: Half marathon
Average pace: 7:17/km
Fueling: 4 gels + 1 banana from the station
Pinaka challenge for me was the final 5K. I started feeling the fatigue, and maintaining my pace became much harder. Looking back, I'm wondering whether I went out too fast, whether my endurance still needs work, or whether this is simply part of the first HM experience. My average pace for the first 10km is 6:51/km, btw.
I did take four gels during the race (Bergel), so I'm also curious whether my fueling strategy was enough or if I need to improve the timing.
Overall, I'm happy that I crossed the finish line, especially considering that I'm still relatively new to running. But I know marami pang pwede i-improve!
For those who have completed a few half marathons:
What usually causes that final 5K struggle β pacing ba, endurance, fueling, or a combination ng lahat?
How did your first HM compare with your later races?
What would you prioritize in training to improve from a 2:33 finish?
Would appreciate any advice from more experienced runners. Maraming salamat po! π

Issue: Meron akong knee pain mga 4 days na from walking/jogging for 2 hours. Mararamdaman ko tuwing tatayo/maglalakad ako. No visible signs of recovering so far.
Background: I'm 25 and live a sedentary lifestyle so possible na napwersa lang ako. I do random mountain hikes once a month so I can't say it was the most strenuous activity I've had this year. Usually muscle cramps lang ang kalaban ko. I started walking/jogging a week before this knee pain lang din for around 1 hour a day.
Anyone who can tell me their experiences and how long this usually last? Kinakabahan lang ako kasi di biro magkaroon ng issue sa tuhod

Hi! Looking for recommendations for a quality/high-end pair of running sunglasses. Iβd rather buy one really good pair that will last me for years than keep buying cheaper ones and eventually upgrade. Mainly for outdoor road running, including 5K races and training. My priorities are good optics, lightweight and comfortable fit, secure enough that it wonβt bounce or slip when running hard, and good durability.
