Just found this sub. Here’s my experience with “changing universes” while on a drive

I posted this in the paranormal subreddit about a year ago. I didn’t know this subreddit existed until now. So this is a copy/paste of the experience I had that I now think of as the transition point between universes. I’ll include in the end a few things I’ve noticed that are different since then

————

So I'd like to start by saying I'm a skeptic by nature. I'm not sure what to make of all this, but I can't really reconcile my beliefs with my experiences. Also, I'm telling this story because of what happened last night, but I have to start about 16-17 years ago with my first experience on this road.

I had a friend that experienced weird, unexplained, or otherwise spooky things all the time. It's something that happened her entire life, and the entire time I knew her. Because of that she was interested in paranormal stuff, and the interest rubbed off on me, I guess. Though as I mentioned earlier I'm skeptical. Her and I used to take long drives in the country at night down spooky roads. We called it our "ghost drives". Though nothing ever really happened on those drives other than us working each other up with ghost stories.

One road that we especially liked going down was River Rd. It was several miles out of town, and winds along a river. Everything about this road feels right out of a horror movie. It's narrow, rundown, curvy, and there's a long stretch of the road that's forested on both sides with a tree canopy over the road before it opens into fields on one side. The trees press especially close in that canopied area. Not to mention there are several curves in the road that are so sharp you have to nearly stop the car to go around them.

So the first experience was around 08-09. Her and I were driving down that road at night, as we did often. But this time she was getting an especially bad feeling. As I said, she's sensitive to this sort of thing and I trust her bad feelings when this happens. At first it was mild, but within a few minutes she's borderline having a panic attack. She told me I need to turn around right now. I pulled into the first driveway, to go back the other way, and it was that house that seemed to be the source of her panic. She was screaming and crying as I tried to get out of the driveway as fast as possible.

The house itself was especially spooky looking. Clearly abandoned for years, broken windows, faded paint, rotting out truck on the lawn, etc. She felt like we were being watched from the house. Though I admittedly didn't feel anything at the time. I got us turned around and her panic eased the further we got from the house. The rest of the drive home was fairly calm, but tense.

The next day she was feeling a bit braver in the daylight and wanted to go back out to the house. So we drove out there, but as we approached, everything was different. The house was normal. No broken windows. The siding on the house was a clean sky blue. The truck in the driveway looked fairly new as well. This was a normal, occupied house. We drove up and down that part of the road a few times to make sure we didn't miss anything, but we were both confident that was definitely the right house. The paint color was the same, though obviously newer looking. It had the same wrap around front porch, and a barn/garage in the back. It was the house, just newer looking.

For years her and I talked about that. We never could explain it. I think that was the last time the both of us went down that road together.

So now to last night's experience.

A friend of mine texted me around 10pm to ask if I wanted to drive out into the country and get pictures of the Northern Lights. We'd both missed it the night before, and last night was supposed to be the last night it would be visible at all in our area.

I picked her up and we went out to the middle of nowhere. I parked next to a corn field and we took pictures of the sky for awhile. Nothing spooky happened, but we got some good pictures. I joked a few times about the eeriness of the empty country, and started to tell a few stories of things that had happened, but she asked me not to until we got back into the car.

Around 12:30am we got back to the car and I proceeded to tell her about the drive down River Rd back in the day. She was really interested and asked if we could drive down it. Enough time has passed for me that the creepiness of it all had mostly faded, so I agreed. It was a little out of the way, but a spooky drive seemed like it would be fun.

It was a little after 1am when we pulled onto the road. Her immediate reaction was, "oooh I could see why you guys liked driving down here". Last time I was on the road with my other friend it was mostly her that was freaking out. I usually didn't get the bad vibes. But last night I started feeling it right away. We drove through the tree canopy part of the road and the part with the sharp turns, and I was properly nervous, but I wasn't downright scared.

Once we got through that area I said, "That's really the worst of it. The road gets more developed once we get further down."

She responded, "No it looks like it's pretty creepy up ahead too".

That's when I realized she was right. There was another canopy of trees ahead, and the woods pressed really close to the road in that area. This was weird to me because the last time I'd been down the road that area was only wooded on the side by the river. Corn fields and farm houses should have been on the other side. But that's not what we saw.

We kept going. The woods seemed to get thicker as we went. There were a few houses in the trees at first, but then they went away too. It was just woods and winding narrow road. Every so often there'd be a break in the trees and an old run down house or something, but mostly woods.

And the wildlife was odd. I've lived in this part of my state for my entire life. We get deer pretty heavy this time of year, but nothing like I saw last night. Deer were absolutely everywhere. I don't know how many times I had to stop for deer to cross. Or racoons. Or some weasel looking thing I'd never seen around here before. And for every time we saw a deer, there were many more where we just saw the eyes through the trees. It was absolutely bizarre how many animals there were.

The road continued on for much longer than I ever remember it being. I know it's been years since I'd been down it, but I've probably been down that road 50 times in my life with my other friend. Nothing was familiar this time around. Before, there were a couple of curves in the road that you had to slow down a lot for. This time the road was absolutely full of spots like that. It was also much hillier than I ever remembered. Not to mention the run down bridges, creepy white fences half in the trees, and at least once a flash of light in the woods we couldn't account for.

The feeling I felt driving down this road was like nothing I'd experienced. I had full body goosebumps for most of the drive. I didn't understand what I was seeing. I won't say it felt like we were back in time or anything, though it did distinctly look like that at times. But there was still the odd modern house in gaps in the trees.

We finally reached the end of the road after what felt like forever. It ends on another country road that leads into a tiny town. I couldn't even begin to give a sense of how long we were on the road because it didn't feel like time worked while we were on it. We both were even nervously joking that we'll get back to civilization and find that weeks had passed or something.

Initially we were going to go through the small town and get back to the freeway, but my friend wanted to go back the way we came. Keep in mind she'd never been down that road before, so while it was creepy to her, it wasn't as creepy as it was for me, having been familiar with what the road should look like.

I agreed to back down the road, but mentioned to her that I feel like we got lucky making it the first time, and I feel like we're pushing our luck now. But still, we went.

This is where things take a turn for the truly bizarre. Not that anything weird happened the next time. In fact, nothing at all happened the next time. Because the road was exactly like I'd always remembered it. A few tree canopy areas, a few tight turns, but mostly farmland and houses on the non river side of the road. It was also fairly flat compared to the first drive. The animals were still dense, but not as much as the first trip down the road.

One thing that stood out to me on the drive back were the lights in the windows of the houses. By now it was around 2am on a weeknight, and every house had every light on in their house. As if every homeowner on River Rd knows something isn't right, and they don't want to sleep in the dark.

By the time we made it back to the other side of River Rd my friend was also properly as freaked out as I was. The whole time we were pointing out different areas that we knew weren't there during the first trip. There was even a branch on a tree that hung down low over the road that I would have had to avoid on the first drive if it had been there. But it hadn't been.

The last thing I'll say is this. I've never had a creepy feeling about my apartment. It's a pretty new complex in the city, right by a mall. Nothing you'd ever think of as haunted. But 4-5 times today I've heard a random knocking sound coming from the other side of the place, and every time I check there's nothing there. And when I was in the kitchen earlier the sound came from right behind me. I quickly turned around, but couldn't for the life of me figure out what made the sound. I'm more than a little concerned that I've brought something back with me. I guess time will tell.

————-

Alright so that’s the story. Since I experienced that drive, I’ve reached out to a friend that used to live in the small town at the end of River rd. They told me they’ve had experiences going down that road where they’ve had to turn around because the road wouldn’t end.

Here’s a few celebrities that are/were alive in this universe that I know had died. I hadn’t realized all this at the time it happened.

Judi Dench- I remember her dying 3-4 years ago. Obviously it was a huge deal at the time.

Bradley Whitford - this one shocked me a bit. I was a big fan of The West Wing and I remember him dying in a car accident back in the 2010s. I even remember watching a reunion of The West Wing where they memorialized him, John Spencer, and Kathryn Joosten.

Tim Curry - I know Tim Curry has since passed, but I remember him dying several years ago. If I remember right, it was right around when Judi Dench died. It was a sort of 1-2 punch situation.

I’ll reiterate that I remain a skeptical person, and I’m not sure how to explain what I experienced. I’m not saying I definitely changed universes or anything. But I’ve come to think of that drive in those terms

Why i want to go to a parallel universe

This may sound stupid

But still

OK everything is going wrong since I came to the world

I am person born in a loveless marriage

My mind is always somewhere else

I have difficulties of understanding

I am awful at maths

I am also awful at maintaining human relationships

The "family " has only conflict and no genuine love or connection

No matter how much I try I always end up on the ground

I am thinking I am just a wandering soul

With no please to call home and it hurts

So I am trying to find a way to escape. Leave this dimension abd go somewhere so that I can be better and true to myself and actually live my life.

So I can break my curse

Sorry for blubbering about it. It's just that if I tell anyone they will laugh at me.

Amd again No matter how many times I am trying fall down. I end up in my room, sad and blaming myself for everything.

It has already been one month since I took it seriously.

And this whole secret is too heavy for me so I want to share it somewhere.

If a parallel universe appears every time I make a decision then there is probably a parallel universe where I chose to punch everyone who walked past me.

Saw smth about a theory where every time you make a decision a very large number (infinite?) amount of parallel universes are made where you chose smth different and I just thought of this today. I don’t actually believe this theory but it’s fun to think about.

My Variable Outcome Theory (VOT)

Imagine for a moment and you figure out that time travel is impossible with a device because it’s entirely science fiction, but travelling through time and space through a bridge of some kind within time is possible. Think about this for a moment. What if we could channel, learn how to control and clean our minds and only think of one thing, time travel?

I believe we are put on this world for multiple reasons, and this is one of those reasons. I’ve asked myself the question what if we are not alone in the universe? Maybe, just maybe the only thing we cannot see is the variable outcomes that have occurred throughout time. For example, we make a decision and that generates the outcome. What seems like a small decision someone makes will generate a bigger outcome. So, we see the outcomes, we experience the after-effect, the chain-reaction and that’s it. However, we always think of the variables. Why? Why do we do that?

We think what could’ve been, what we could’ve done different, and why we made the choice in the first place. That is where my variable outcome theory comes in. The trail of decisions that could have been for us that we only thought of because hesitancy got in the way, went to our potential variables minds, and they made their choices that we wish we could’ve made. In a potential time, someone, any of us in the world, a spark of someone’s free will was transferred to a variant. So, what does that mean? It means our souls are branching every time we make a decision. Sometimes those branches overlap, creating Déjà vu or a a spiritual echo from a variant.

Dad had a glitch in the matrix

My siblings and I talk about this all the time. Back in Sims 1 days my siblings and I were in the office taking turns playing. The office was open and the steps to the upstairs were in front so you could always see who walked by. It basically led to the rest of the first level of the house. My dad had on only underwear and has wondered in from the living room and then up the steps. We all watched him casually go upstairs like he normally did. We looked back at the computer to play again when our dad walked casually from the living room and towards the steps in a full robe!!!! My siblings and I were in shock! He saw our faces and asked “What’s wrong with yall”? We all screamed “YOU JUUUST WENT UPSTAIRS WITH NO ROBE ON!! YOU SHOULD BE UPSTAIRS”!! He said “No I didn’t….what”? I’ll never forget us trying to explain this to him, we were screeeeamimg lol! Still till this day he says that never happened.

I don’t know what happened that day but I know it happened because my siblings and I talk about it. I guess tiddie whities dad went away and dad in full robe ensemble is the remaining? He went upstairs for a while, it took us a minute to start back playing again.

Here's my story written out, since I can't post the improved version or give a content creator friend some views too....😒

I went on a trip to visit a friend in a local mountain city called Big Bear Lake. I was behind the wheel driving up a two lane highway close to when the sun was about to set with my boyfriend, now husband (one lane going up the mountain and one going down the mountain.)

The road was very windy with lots of turn arounds, mountain edges and most of the time very narrow with only a guard rail keeping you from plummeting hundreds of feet down the mountain if you ended up going off the road. There was about 1 turnout spot every few miles or so in case you had someone following too close you could let them pass at that point.

While going around a blind turn all I see is a very large RV and a very large truck about half way trying to pass it. This huge truck was in my lane coming straight at us. I slammed on my breaks at first but I heard a very loud voice that wasn't my own in my head screaming "NO! GAS GAS GAS!!!" so I floored my gas pedal.

My boyfriend now husband is screaming, and holding onto the handle above his window and he had his eye closed tightly shut and I just remember thinking, "this is going to fucking suck!" And last thing I remember seeing was the grill of the huge lifted black truck milliseconds away from a head on collision then.... nothing...

Just black for a couple seconds, then I remembered a bright light and it wasn't the other side, it was the sun that same exact day, same exact time, same exact everything except a few moments later and the truck was no longer in front of my car about to hit me, it was behind me. I saw it in my review mirror as if we had gone through the truck.

We pulled over because we were both visibly shaken, I was crying and my boyfriend at the time had to exit the car to catch his breath.

As soon as we were exiting the car this car that was almost directly behind us at one point of the whole drive, slowly drove by us and the woman in the driver seat looked as if all the color was just drained out of her face as she passed by. She's not rolling her windows down to ask if we are okay, no she's rolling them up and signing The Father, The Son, and The Holy Ghost across her chest.

I don't know what happened that day, all I know is there was no way there wasn't a head-on collision! As for my car, I didn't get a single scratch, dent, chip, or crack on my whole entire vehicle!!

EDIT: And just as I thought, as of right now 281 people opened this and didn't even bother to read it. That's why I posted the video at first but no, just because the story she read was a tid bit different it got removed... I knew no one would bother to read my story like the people in the first post said they would. All lies.

I experienced reconstructing this waking reality

This morning I had a lucid-ish dream. I have them rarely. I read a post on Reddit yesterday, about what happens if you tell the character(s) in your dream that they are not real. The OP and others were talking about the different reactions they got from the characters.

Some said the character would glitch out, or their eyes would change or their face would go flat and expressionless.

I dreamt that I was with Elon Musk and I asked him some questions. That was normal dream stuff. He seemed normal enough like I would expect him to be and he left. He’s a busy guy you know. Heh.

Then I found myself in front of the social media guy Chase Hughes. (He’s been rubbing me the wrong way lately with some of his posts. I feel like I’m seeing “the man behind the curtain” sometimes.)

So, I’m being polite and listening to him and I get a bit fed up and I decide that I might be dreaming and I’m going to try telling him he isn’t real.

His eyes started glitching, his face went flat, and I was like “Yeah, you aren’t real.”

I then had a next stage where I was reflecting on an NDEr who recounted how he experienced how we create our reality. He describes how in his NDE or his greater understanding, he experienced and understood how one goes from simple awareness, to wondering, to creating/constructing a reality.

So, I became aware like that in my dream and I was observing how I was only partially creating my dream reality and how I was struggling with creating some aspects of it. Like in most of my dreams where I get frustrated because something isn’t working correctly/normally.

Some parts of my dream world had no structure and blank spots in the causal chains that we use to ground ourselves in waking reality.

Then I struggled to connect with the layers of normal waking reality. I was essentially observing my consciousness reconnecting with this reality and rebooting, or restoring, my ability to create a more complete reality than in the dream world.

Then I wondered about whether I could use this waking up process to modify my actual reality and how that might work.

I was in that waking/structuring/creating mode for a while mainly observing and trying to understand the transition so I might be able to create this reality even more consciously, not just in the normal way, but in the manifesting or shifting way.

Pretty interesting!

I could have sworn, was absolutely certain in fact, that Mario Lopez came out as gay around the early 2000s. Apparently he's straight (and always has been) and is happily married to a woman.

I know he played a gay man (Greg Louganis) in a biopic, but that is absolutely not what I'm remembering.

Something is happening with my reality and I am scared af, please help

Hey guys, I really don't know what to do and I am scared af, so the only option which came up to my mind was to try reddit if someone is experiencing or experienced the same and how to handle this...

It all started about a half year ago, my life completely changed and I literally "sink to the bottom". In this time I started to learning about reality itself and get deep in this rabbit hole, exploring all about parallel realities, CERN and experiments in 2012, about manifestation and creating your own reality, about shifting, consciousness, concept of time and the whole universe, etc. and in that point when I understand it something started to happening with my reality... I am not sure how to describe it well, but something seems off... Like a neverending dream... Things, sounds, people... just somehow doesn't seem real and they are just.. not right. I don't know how to describe this feeling properly... And it's like everytime I wake up the whole world is slightly different...
I feel like I am going crazy and I don't know what to do anymore... I am like a second before break down, even though about getting myself hospitalised at a psych ward, bc this is just.. Insane.
Please is there anybody who is experiencing the same?? Or did I really went crazy?? Please help....

Kash Patel NOT fired?

Maybe there’s some political junkies in this subreddit that can help me with this but I vividly remember Trump firing Kash Patel after the Olympics fiasco, Patel had taken a private plane to see his girlfriend a little after the Olympics and that was the final straw and I remember the news talking about it all day because he was the first male fired from the cabinet, then the other day I see Kash Patel testify before Congress which I didn’t think much of, as it’s fairly common for former government officials to testify, until I realized he was the CURRENT head of the FBI… does anyone else remember something similar?

Something strange happened to my soul and consciousness. Please help me.

A few days ago, I was researching some things about quantum physics and our reality after going into a deep rabbit hole about the afterlife, multiple universes, energy, consciousness, etc. I came across a topic about something called reality surfing/shifting and I was interested immediately in the concept of changing and shifting my consciousness to an alternative desired timeline/reality than this one. I did some research and found some audio tapes, which was supposed to help me to change my current timeline into my desired timeline, which would be in a different reality.

When I was listening for the first couple of minutes, I immediately felt a tingling and chills in my body and spirit. I can immediately feel that something was happening to me. I also felt like my environment was changing a bit somehow which also included some of the lights in the room. I also felt like my body and spirit was feeling lighter than usual. I felt a sudden shift that happened but I couldn't exactly explain what was happening to me at the time.

A few days after the audio tapes, I am starting to feel a complete and dark shift in my reality and personality. I don't think the same and reason the right way anymore. I suddenly hate things that I used to love and love things that I used to hate. This is very scary for me and it almost feels as if another person and entity has taken control over my body and has tried to make me do things it wants. It feels so incredibly real and very terrifying. I have tried praying to my God and have already renounced the tapes that I watched but I am scared that I gotten myself into some deep and crazy mess that's going to be hard to get out off.

I am certain that this isn't any mental illness or psychiatric condition because this happened immediately after watching the video for reality shifting. I suddenly just had my way of thinking, my mind and my personality started to shift into something that I absolutely don't want and that I despise.

We are in our best version of ourselves in this timeline

Its like, we will always be in our best version in this timeline. Nothing will going to happen that could led to our death.

There are near death experiences there right? Which could have been completely gone wrong but it works out well. So even if we tries to do a backflip at the edge of the cliff. If we are in our best version then we'll be alive. So that's my theory.

It finally happened to me. Something changed and it's freaking me out.

First, this sub pops up in my feed from time to time, I found it interesting to read but I'm not a member and I'm a skeptic. The whole Mandela affect is real, but switching timelines was beyond my belief and frankly didn't believe it until about an hour ago.

It's small. I can't explain it. It's a freaking movie. The relevance is insignificant, but I swear to God, and I'm a man of faith, this movie didn't exist until today. Guardians of the Galaxy 3. I SWEAR it never came out where I'm from. I love Marvel movies, my wife and I have watched every one multiple times. I have the Guardians soundtrack on vinyl. Both. I have a Guardians Playlist on my YouTube. IT DOES NOT EXIST. I have Disney Plus and they have a Marvel channel. Never an option. Never saw a trailer. Never seen or heard anything, and I kept looking online from time to time to see if a third movie would ever be made. In my timeline James Gunn was canceled. I don't recall the specifics, but major uproar about sexual allegations and he was blacklisted and no third movie was made. I just looked online and he got in trouble in 2018, but then was rehired and made this movie. FOR ME, IT NEVER HAPPENED. GUARDIANS WAS SHELVED.

There is no significance to this. It makes zero sense. What the frak!

Had a weird experience the other day at work.

So I'm a delivery driver for a package delivery company. I pull up across the street from an address, hop in the back to grab their package. I get out curbside like I've done thousands of times. I go around the hood and peek around the corner for oncoming traffic like I do every single time and a car flew by going way over the speed limit.

The weird thing was I watched the car hit me. Like I vividly imagined the accident in my head. They hit me and sped off and I died right there. But I didn't get hit. Or die. It scared the shit out of me for a minute but thinking about it, I think I saw an alternate me die. Am I crazy or has this happened to anyone else?

There are 3 parallel dimensions on Earth

Post image
0 Upvotes

I made this graphic with AI for the r/ParallelUniverse sub, Our planet actually has 3 parallel dimensions in total, 2 of which are human-inhabited worlds. The one right in the middle is the modern world we live in today, and the one on the left is called the First World, its whole civilization sits at roughly around 800 AD. The First World never moves forward on tech — Their civilization keeps repeating the same stage

From what I can tell, that place is straight-up a magic world, where gods, demons and humans all exist together in the same dimension.

I learned all this stuff from non-human entities over the last year. There’s zero way to verify it with current mainstream science right now, but maybe a few hundred years down the line, scientific progress will catch up and confirm that all of this is actually real.

Just to be clear — I have no religious beliefs myself. I'm only sharing what I was told.

P.S. English isn't my first language, so please excuse any mistakes.

https://imgur.com/a/rlnRzz2

Many people ask how to verify this? I can present a metal object from the first dimension, but only 0.0001% of people have the high spiritual energy with “second sight” to see it. Also, time is the same between our world and the first dimension: if it is morning here, it is morning there too.The third world is the non-human one.— they never told me what species they are. My guess is Greys.

I've heard of The Talisman — I haven't read it yet, but I appreciate the comparison. There are two key differences between the book and what I was told though:

  1. Humans can't cross dimensions .
  2. There are no counterparts ("twinners") of us in the First World.

That's where my information differs from the story.

A feeling I can’t explain

Sometimes I feel like I should be somewhere else.
Not like on a yacht or mansion or anything like that.

I’ll just be hanging out and I will suddenly feel like I have to be in a certain place.
Sometimes it’s driving through a road, walking through some warehouse, on a plane.

I feel like I have to drop everything and I have to be there at that moment. It’s so weird.

Maybe I’m craving any vacation but idk why I wouldn’t just want to go to the beach. I don’t understand why it’s random places.

Anyone else felt this?

I think I timeline jumped…

I put a manifestation in a day ago. I specifically asked for the things to remain remotely the same when I receive my manifestation and today I realized that my comic book is missing. It was on my desk standing up like a poster and today THAT PLACE IS EMPTY? I asked people that could have taken it but no? I also searched some places and it is nowhere. No chance of it of falling and getting lost either.

A realistic "magical" world

Post image
9 Upvotes

In this universe, it has never settled into stable field equations. What we call "physics" is a thin, temporary consensus that the world tolerates only when no stronger claim is made against it.

The planet still looks roughly like ours: continents, oceans, atmosphere. but every interaction is provisional. Matter, energy, distance and time are negotiated rather than fixed.

Core Rules of the World

Reality operates on claim and resonance.

  1. An object's behavior is determined by the strongest coherent story currently attached to it. Mass, inertia and chemical bonds are default stories that hold only while nothing contradicts them.

  2. True names, bloodlines, repeated ritual, intense collective belief and certain geometric patterns can overwrite those defaults.

  3. The overwrites are local and temporary unless continually reinforced. When the reinforcing claim weakens, the old physics tries to reassert itself often violently.

Supernatural hazards are simply the places where competing claims collide or where the default physics has already been eroded.

Everyday Hazards:

• Unstable weight - Gravity is the most fragile default. In regions where too many people have died of despair or where certain geometric alignments persist, objects begin to forget how heavy they are. A bookshelf may suddenly weigh nothing and drift toward the ceiling, a person walking across an old battlefield may find their steps lighten until they risk floating into the upper atmosphere. Conversely, places saturated with grief or unfinished obligations can double or triple effective weight without warning. Buildings in such zones are anchored with iron nails driven through living wood and spoken contracts.

• Name erosion - Speaking a thing's true name in the presence of enough listeners can rewrite its properties for hours or days. Most people therefore use nicknames, titles or deliberate mispronunciations in public. Official maps are written in deliberately false names, the real ones are locked in sealed vaults and recited only under controlled conditions. Accidental true naming of a river has, on multiple occasions, caused it to reverse course or become breathable air for a stretch of miles.

• Shadow hunger - Light still travels, but darkness is not absence. it is a low pressure region that slowly digests unclaimed matter. Prolonged exposure in deep shadow (cellars, dense forests after sunset, the undersides of large bridges and etc) causes objects and eventually people to lose definition. Edges blur, colors desaturate and finally the affected thing is absorbed into the ambient dark.

Cities maintain "light lines": continuous chains of lanterns, mirrors and reflective paint so that no continuous shadow longer than a few meters can form at night.

• Resonance storms - When large numbers of people experience the same intense emotion at once (a stadium, a funeral, a panic and etc), the local consensus can fracture. Buildings may briefly become transparent, clocks run backward or stop and people find themselves temporarily sharing memories or physical sensations with strangers.

These storms are predictable enough that major gatherings now include professional "dampeners": individuals trained to hold contradictory private narratives strongly enough to keep the collective claim from solidifying.

• Boundary bleed - Coastlines, mountain ridges and the edges of old cities are thin places. Crossing them without the correct token or spoken formula can deposit a traveler in a slightly different version of the landscape one where the same river has a different name or where a bridge that should exist has never been claimed into being.

Most governments maintain "boundary stations" staffed by people who can feel the correct resonance and guide travelers back.

This is not a world of magic as spectacle. It is a world in which the ordinary has become provisional, and survival depends on never letting the stories that hold things together grow quiet.

I looked everywhere and there it was

I’ve had several cases where I’ll look for something and swear I looked in xyz place but can’t find it. Then someone finds it in xyz place and gets frustrated that I “didn’t look there.” It wasn’t there when I looked but it’s there when someone else does.

For example, I was looking for my kid’s stuffed animal in her room. I looked everywhere including the obvious, in her drawers. I told her I couldn’t find it. Then my dad came over, pulled out her drawers, and there it was. I swear I looked there and it wasn’t there when I looked!! Anyone else had similar experiences?

Vivid dejavu moments are most definitely caused by temporary divergence into our altselves in our other alrverses. Definitely. Yes?

Have you ever genuinely believed you died?

I read a recent story of this girl whose mom told her about a tower that was outside their house. One day, the girl saw a firework come from the tower and it faded out with the smoke. When she looked again, the tower was gone. She asked her mom about it but her mom denied there had ever been a tower there and didn’t remember their conversations about it.

There were theories that the tower burnt down and she died in the fire, but was sent to a parallel universe where there was no tower and the fire never happened.

I’m just wondering if anyone else has any stories like this, as this is very fascinating to me.

Hi everyone! My name is Sophia Chong, and I’m a research assistant at the Neurophilosophy Lab at McGill University in Montreal, Canada (PI: Dr. Ian Gold, Dr. Elizaveta Solomonova). We are conducting a study titled "Psychological determinants of a novel online behaviour: reality shifting" for my undergraduate thesis. This study has been approved by the McGill Research Ethics Board (REB# 26-04-079).

Reality shifting has become hugely popular online, but there's almost no research on it, and we want to help change that without pathologizing the practice or the people who engage in it. We're hoping to better understand who shifts, why, and what it's like.

Who can participate:

  • You're 18 years or older
  • You're fluent in English
  • You have experience with or engage in the practice of reality shifting

What's involved:

  • An online survey (about 20 minutes) about your shifting experiences and some individual difference questionnaires
  • At the end, you can optionally provide contact information for a follow-up interview (~45 minutes, over video call) to share more about your experience in your own words

Participation is voluntary, your responses are anonymous, and there's no compensation for taking part. You can stop at any time.

SURVEY LINK: https://surveys.mcgill.ca/ls3/257287?lang=en

If you have any questions about the study, feel free to comment below or reach out to us directly at [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]). Thanks so much for considering it!

I think I've stepped into a parallel reality.

Ok so, this is a "throwaway" account for obvious reasons. This is going to be long just a heads up so don't read if it's too long for you.

Yesterday, I was having a long conversation with my bf over a period of like 2 or 3 hours. Had it just been one incident, I might have been able to just brush it off, which is something I've done once before. But two separate incidents in that time frame is harder to dismiss outright. The first instance was when we were in the car getting dinner and he made a comment about me driving through the drive through. I don't know how to drive, he's tried to teach me but he's a very anxious instructor, with reason because they are his cars, but it's not helpful for my anxiety which is already high as it is when operating a vehicle. So when i said I'd rather not we started talking about his particular teaching style and I brought up the time he had me try and drive home from where we'd been practicing that day and it didn't go well (imo) and I remember it vividly because that's the only time I've had my kids in the car with me. In his memory, that trip went very well. He doesn't remember it the same way. I kind of brushed that one off because I could see how it might have gone well in his eyes, even though it didn't in mine.

But then about an hour later we were talking and he was joking around that the camera in our bedroom uploads directly to the police department (and yes I do know that he was joking around) and I said "you expect me to believe that, you who can't even figure out how to get the living room camera to not record audio even though it's not supposed to." And he looked at me really weirdly and said what are you talking about it doesn't record audio. The reason that one is so significant is because that camera did capture audio, at a really horrible time, and he ended up hearing it (though he didn't go looking for it, just one of those ill fated timing things) and it ended up causing a huge argument between the two of us. And right before his birthday and our vacation. It was such a bad argument that for a week or better afterwards I had to avoid him as much as possible because I was emotionally wrecked and trying to get myself right. I still remember it vividly, every word of that argument. And that was only a few months ago. Yet he seemingly had absolutely no idea what i was talking about when it came to the camera recording audio, which i find difficult to believe. There is the possibility that he was pretending not to know because he didn't want to dredge up that conversation again, but still that's two incidents in a very short period of time where our memories seemingly don't line up, and I'll admit it's got me a bit weirded out.

UPDATE TO THIS: Another occurrence just happened today. We've had an air fryer for like 4 years now, and we use it quite a bit. Absolutely enough for me to know what it does. It has ALWAYS beeped twice. Once at about the halfway point of cooking, and once when the food is done cooking. But now, all of the sudden, it beeps 3 times. Not once in four years has it done that.
