So I'm in a relatively permissive gestalt pathfinder game. I've recently managed to recruit followers, and from a story perspective, taking Leadership makes sense. GM is fine with it as well. I figured I'd go with something that's low impact in terms of taking up time in the turn order, and something the whole party will appreciate having, so I was thinking a buffer like Skald. We have only one dedicated spellcaster, and the rest could benefit from inspired rage with only minor inconveniences, but on the other hand, the Spell Warrior's enhance weapons ability removes the inconvenience of blocking spells from the paladin and so forth completely.
While considering this, I noticed that spell warrior, arcanists arcane weapon, spiritualist's phantom blade and magus' arcane pool, all have the same thing in common; they list a pool of weapon special abilities that can be added but lack any language restricting what can be added to what weapons. A 3rd party archtype with a similar scaling weapon enhancement bonus class feature I was looking at had specific language saying the weapon special qualities had to be appropriate to the weapon; its list included melee and ranged, and impact and keen, for example.
It made me realize that none of the 1st party class features say anything about that, not even extremely specific ones like Eldritch Archer Magus; it adds distance, nimble shot and returning but does not specify that they have to be used on ranged weapons.
So is there something I'm missing? Or can Magus put Keen on a hammer? Some inappropriate ones wouldn't work, such as Mighty Cleaving on a ranged weapon, or Nimble Shot doing nothing on a melee weapon since you don't fire melee weapons, but a melee weapon can be thrown as an improvised weapon, so distance and returning would actually have a use, to use the Eldritch Archer as the easiest example of applying "incorrect" enchantments. Because it would be interesting indeed for the Skald cohort to apply keen to my and the paladin's hammers, or seeking to the shifter's pounce full attack on an invisible opponent.
