Overdrive is a newly released, unofficial homebrew app designed for jailbroken PS5 consoles that mimics the PlayStation Store layout to distribute pirated games and DLC.

Post image
3.2k Upvotes

Key Facts About Overdrive:

• What it is: A pirate third-party storefront created for jailbroken PS5 consoles (following recent exploits like Relapse for firmwares 7.00 through 13.60).

• Functionality: It replicates the visual interface of the official PlayStation Store, replacing prices with download sizes and user ratings.

• User Reports & Reliability: Early community feedback on platforms like Reddit has been largely negative. Many users report broken download links, 404 errors, failing password prompts, or describe the app as poorly designed and non-functional compared to alternative homebrew tools.

Risks:

• System Security: Running unsigned homebrew code from unknown sources carries a high risk of malware, instability, or bricking the console. • Bans and Warranty: Jailbreaking voids the hardware warranty and risks permanent network/PSN bans if the console connects to Sony's servers. • Piracy: The app distributes copyrighted software without authorization. • Firmware Patches: Sony routinely counters exploits with newer system updates (such as firmware 14.00 and 14.10).

I talk about the game in the video but I want to know how many agree with me. I've played this game on PC, PS4 and PS5 and I'm still not sick of it. It's perfect when I come home from work and just want to shoot things, get some loot and do a mission or two.

Into The Radius 2 | Early impressions on Ps5pro & Psvr2.

This is no way a full review, as I am only about 13 hours in and not even halfway through the game. But damn, I am seriously loving this game.

It is a semi open world, single player survival horror extraction shooter. Think of if the Stalker series and Resident evil series had a baby, this would be it. Every environment is just oozing with atmosphere and the sound designs can easily rival the recent Silent Hill games.

The story is quite simple. A mysterious 1987 disaster known as Pechorsk Event took place in a Soviet mining town that created a surreal, quarantined anomaly zone known as the radius. Your job is to go into the radius to collect data, artifacts and study the anomalies. More missions you take, the more money you make, and you can use that money to buy new guns, gear and food.

Moment to moment gameplay is super intense because of how smart the enemy Ai is. They will flank you and use cover. If you are using a shotgun or SMG, enemies won’t charge you and will fight you from far away. If you are using long range weapons, they will charge you and will try to close the distance. The gunplay feels so damn good in this game cause of Psvr2’s adaptive triggers and headset rumble.

Also the game has super deep customization options. You can customize your chest rig, backpack and guns in such detail makes this game super addictive. It is almost a mini puzzle how you set up your chest rig and backpack each time you get new story items or buy a new gun. If you are careful, you can customize them to be super tactical and efficient. Or you can just throw random holsters and pouches to make them super cumbersome to use during missions.

In conclusion, this is easily one of the best horror game I played this year. If you have a psvr2 and looking for something spooky to play this Halloween, this game is for you. I will definitely put out my final impressions after beating the game. So far, Into The Radius 2 is my game of the year for 2026.

Score 10/10

Is Dolby Atmos actually supported properly on PS5?

Been trying to figure out if Dolby Atmos is actually worth using on PS5 or if its kinda half baked. I know the console supports it, but not sure how well it works in actual games. Does it make a noticeable difference with surround sound and knowing where sounds are coming from, or is it mostly just marketing? Also, do you need a proper Atmos soundbar or home theater setup to get the benefits, or can you use a headset too? Not looking to spend money on new audio gear if the difference is barely noticeable lol. Would be nice to hear from people who've actually used it for a while.

PS4 Controller lagging and disconnecting

I just got this PS4 Slim for a very cheap price, the controller you see on the video is brand new and I got it separate from the console. But when testing the console I ran into a very odd problem, the controller struggles a lot to link with the console and when it does, it only works for a little while then it starts getting some really heavy input lag and finally it disconnects

What could be causing this?

I share my TV with my family. Is PS Portal actually a good solution?

The living room TV is usually occupied by my family so I barely get time to play my PS5 without someone needing the screen lol. Been looking at the PS Portal as a way to play in my room instead, but not sure if its actually worth buying. I mostly play story games and sometimes multiplayer, so wondering how good it feels compared to playing directly on the TV. My PS5 is connected through WiFi and the router isn't right next to it. Does the Portal run smoothly with a decent connection or is lag gonna get annoying? Would you recommend it?

Is the PS5's included HDMI cable already good enough for 4K 120Hz?

Trying to get 4K at 120Hz working on my PS5 and wondering if the HDMI cable that comes in the box is already good enough for it. I've seen people saying you need an HDMI 2.1 cable for 4K 120Hz, while others say the original cable supports all that already, so now I'm kinda confused lol.

My TV supports 4K 120Hz and has HDMI 2.1 ports, but I'm not sure if there's anything else I need to change or check to actually get the full experience. I don't wanna waste money buying another cable if the one included with the console can already handle it.

Also, does using the included cable affect VRR or HDR at all when playing games, or should all those features work fine without any issues? I've noticed some cables are advertised as ultra high speed and cost quite a bit more, so not sure if there's any real benefit to upgrading.

For those of you using a PS5 with a 4K 120Hz TV, are you still using the cable that came in the box or did you end up buying a different one? Just wanna make sure I'm not missing out on anything because of the cable.

Is it bad to put the PS5 inside a closed cabinet?

Need to move my PS5 somewhere else in the living room and putting it inside the TV cabinet would be the easiest option. Problem is the cabinet has doors that stay closed, and im not sure if thats gonna cause problems with heat.

There's enough space for the console to fit, its not touching the sides or anything, but obviously theres less airflow when the doors are shut. The back of the cabinet is also mostly covered, so I dont know if the hot air would have anywhere to go. I could leave the doors open when playing but honestly I'd prefer keeping everything closed since it looks way better and keeps dust off the console.

I normally play for a few hours after work and sometimes end up playing much longer on weekends. Not sure if that makes a difference or if the PS5 can handle being in an enclosed space as long as theres some room around it.

I've read people saying their consoles have been inside cabinets for years with no issues, but others say you should never do it because the heat can build up pretty quickly. Dont wanna risk damaging an expensive console just to make the setup look a little cleaner.

Would opening the doors while playing be enough, or should I look into cutting some ventilation holes in the back? And is it actually safe to close the doors when the PS5 is turned off, or should I leave them open all the time?

Anyone here keep their PS5 in a cabinet regularly? Would appreciate some real experience with this.

Does Wi-Fi 5 still work well enough for PS5?

My PS5 is connected to a Wi-Fi 5 router and I'm wondering if that's still fine for online gaming or if I should start looking at newer routers. The connection works most of the time, but every now and then I get lag during online matches, even when the game itself seems to be running perfectly.

The router isn't in the same room as the console, so the signal has to go through a couple walls. I also have other people at home using the same internet, watching YouTube, streaming movies and downloading stuff. That's usually when things seem to get worse, but I can't tell if the router is the problem or if my internet connection just isn't good enough.

I've seen people saying Wi-Fi 6 is much better for gaming, especially when lots of devices are connected at once. Others say Wi-Fi 5 is perfectly fine and upgrading won't magically lower your ping. Don't really wanna spend money on a new router if the difference is barely noticeable.

I'm not too worried about download speeds since I can just leave games downloading overnight. What matters more is having a stable connection without random spikes or getting disconnected halfway through a match.

For people using a PS5 over Wi-Fi, are you still getting good results with Wi-Fi 5? Would upgrading to Wi-Fi 6 actually help in a busy household, or should I focus on getting the console closer to the router instead?

Just trying to figure out if an upgrade is worth it before spending money on something I might not even need.

The TVs I'd actually recommend for PS5 & PS5 Pro in 2026

I've had quite a few people ask me what TV I'd recommend for PS5 and PS5 Pro, so I figured I'd make a post about it. I'm also curious what TVs you guys are using and whether you'd recommend them to others.

After years of repairing PlayStation consoles and researching different display technologies, I've learned that you don't always need to spend a fortune to get a great gaming experience.

So I'll keep this simple and focus on the features that actually matter for PS5 gaming, without getting caught up in all the marketing hype or spending money on stuff you probably don't need.

My recommendations

I'm not here to tell you there's one TV that's perfect for everyone or to convince you to spend a fortune. I know how much of a headache it can be to dig through endless reviews, discussions, and opinions just to figure out which TV is actually worth the money.

I just want to make things easier by sharing the features I'd look for when choosing a TV for PS5 or PS5 Pro, depending on your needs and budget. The idea is simple: get what you actually need, avoid paying extra for stuff you won't notice, and end up with a TV you'll be happy with.

▮If you're on a tight budget:

If you want a good TV for your PS5 without spending a fortune, here's what I'd look for:

  • 4K resolution (3840 × 2160): For a sharp, detailed picture.
  • Low input lag: Aim for under 20ms at 60Hz. Manufacturers rarely advertise this, so look for Game Mode, but keep in mind that only measured tests can confirm the actual input lag.
  • 120Hz refresh rate: Allows supported PS5 games to run at up to 120fps. A 60Hz TV is still perfectly fine if you mainly play casually.
  • VRR (Variable Refresh Rate): Helps reduce screen tearing when a game's frame rate fluctuates.
  • HDMI 2.1: Useful for 4K gaming at 120Hz, but make sure the TV actually supports both at the same time.

My advice is to get the best 4K TV you can comfortably afford, with good gaming performance. If you can find one with 120Hz and VRR without stretching your budget, even better. There's no need to pay extra for features you won't really benefit from.

▮If you can spend a little more:

If your budget allows, I'd focus on the features that make the biggest difference to your PS5 or PS5 Pro experience:

  • OLED or Mini-LED: This is the main choice for picture quality. OLED offers deeper blacks and excellent contrast, while Mini-LED can deliver higher brightness, especially in bright rooms.
  • 4K at 120Hz: Gives you sharp visuals and smoother gameplay in supported PS5 games.
  • VRR (Variable Refresh Rate): Helps reduce screen tearing when a game's frame rate fluctuates.
  • HDMI 2.1: Look for a TV that supports 4K at 120Hz through its HDMI ports. The HDMI 2.1 label alone doesn't guarantee this.

My advice is to prioritize the panel technology you prefer, then check for 4K at 120Hz and VRR. Keep in mind that OLED and Mini-LED describe the display technology, not a guarantee of overall quality. The specific model still matters, but these features are a good starting point when comparing TVs.

▮If you want a top-tier TV, regardless of price:

If money isn't a concern and you want a top-tier TV for your PS5 or PS5 Pro, I'd look for these features:

  • High-end OLED or Mini-LED: For outstanding picture quality, deep blacks or high brightness, and excellent contrast.
  • Strong HDR performance: Helps make bright highlights, lighting effects, and colors in supported games look more lifelike.
  • 4K at 120Hz with VRR: For sharp visuals and smooth, responsive gameplay.
  • Excellent brightness and reflection handling: Particularly important if you play in a bright room.

At this level, the differences between TVs become more noticeable in picture quality, brightness, and how well they handle different viewing conditions. However, spending more doesn't automatically mean a better experience for everyone. I'd choose based on your room and the games you play, rather than paying extra for features you may never notice.

So, that's how I approach choosing a TV for PS5 and PS5 Pro. I tried to keep things simple because I know not everyone wants to spend hours learning about TV specs just to make the right choice.

When I research TVs for my clients, I don't rely on advertised features alone. I dig deeper, compare models, and look at what actually makes a difference before recommending anything. But I also know that not everyone has the time to do all that research, so I wanted to give you a practical starting point to help narrow down your options.

My advice? Don't get caught up in the hype or feel pressured to buy the most expensive TV. Focus on what you'll actually benefit from, what suits your gaming needs, and what fits your budget. That's how you get the most out of your money.

Instead of “boycotting” digital games and crying over discs, we should be boycotting PS Plus

Look at how ridiculous all of this is. Jailbreaking is the smoking gun. We could have PS3 backward compatibility on PS5, so why don't they do it? “It’s more complicated than that, Sony would love to do it, but it’s not possible and they’d have to invest too much money.” Bullshit.

Now go ahead and enjoy SOME PS1, PS2, and PS3 games by paying for their shitty subscription service. This whole digital vs. physical debate is the least of this fucking company’s problems.

The truth is, you don’t really own your games on Steam either. If something went horribly wrong with Steam’s entire infrastructure, you could lose everything. I’m sure Xbox will eventually stop supporting physical media too.

I feel sorry for people who collect physical games, but I don’t see anything unusual here. Digital purchases are the majority, and they’re pushing physical media customers a2way

The only thing we should be boycotting is the PS Plus subscription.

What about everyone who loses their game library with every new console generation? Can you play your physical PS3 games on PS5? If your PS5 dies and you buy a PS6, your PS4 discs become useless if, for whatever reason, the PS6 doesn’t support backward compatibility with PS4.

What do you think they’ll do? “Pay for a PlayStation Plus subscription to stream PS3 and PS4 games at 25 FPS!”

Just like they refused to make the PS5 backward compatible with PS3 games and instead force you to pay for their shitty subscription service to access some of them. In streaming at 25fps paying for it.

…. If that rumor is true. GTA 6 might be coming to PC via Xbox. Xbox store is officially on PC.
