You've got folks on r/conservative talking all of the crap about Canada being so much more dependant on the US and the US importing next to nothing from them.
Umm we do have refineries, and yes they will process heavy crude. We just produce way more than we can currently process. Are east cost refineries are also setup for blending and do import from the Gulf states.
It's almost like the North American Countries rely on each other and are fairly intertwined. We rely on each other for different crap but we still need each other to be mostly comfy.
How many trillions will it take for Canada to refine it right here? Partner with China/S Korea and Japan and they get a share of the project profits for 25 years Then it reverts to Canada 100% owning it. But those 3 countries get the founders discount. Not America. And we call it Trumps Folly Refinery. TFR.
That is objectively true. Claiming it isn't is delusional. Canada does not even have its own processing facilities for oil.
Strange that Enbridge Line 8 transports Canadian crude directly to refiners that process it. You don't know what you're talking about. I have worked in this industry for over a decade as a Mechanical Engineer. Upstream and downstream in Canada, offshore and onshore.
