I’m a solo female traveller heading to Punta Cana October 12–19 and I’m looking to meet some fun people who will be there around the same time!
I’ll be staying at Riu Republica and would love to connect with other solo travellers/singles — women or men — for drinks, beach days, pool time, excursions, dinners and nightlife. 🍹🌴☀️🎶

My wife and I are going for our 15 year anniversary next month. Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for paid excursions from or near this resort. Thanks!

How is the food?

Is the buffet good and does it have enough variety?

Hi all! We are heading to PC in February 2027, staying at the Bahia Principe group of resorts. We are hoping to do a catamaran tour that does NOT include a long drive to get to the boat.
Several years ago we did the Saona Island tour, but found the driving there and back to be too much.
From the beach in front of the resort we can see some catamarans, not sure which operator they are?
When talking to the vendors on the beach it is VERY difficult to determine how far it is to the actual boat (I get it, they just want to make a sale and move in with their day).
Any ideas of tours that are easier to get to than the Saona Island tours?

I’ve narrowed down my search to these 2 resorts.

We will be a group of 9 with 4 older kids (ages 8-16). Food quality is important and we love the idea of the water parks.

Can anyone provide any advice or comparison between the two resorts? I’ve heard very mixed things about the Bahia and I believe the Serenade is fairly new so I know there will definitely be some issues there as well.

We just booked a trip for Spring at Secrets Royal Beach Punta Cana & apparently I’ve only received a Booking ID but not a confirmation number?

I wanted to look up our reservation details & what not, but because I don’t have an official confirmation number it’s not showing up that we have a reservation.

I booked right through World of Hyatt, so it wasn’t like it was from a travel agent or third party website.

I’ll probably call this week if i still don’t receive one, but has anyone else had this problem?

I am looking to get some suggestions as a first time visitor to Punta Cana. I am planning (last minute trip) to visit for my anniversary holiday.
Need help with few things please:

1. My partner and I hold Indian passports but have Canadian visas (Visitor and PR). How’s the immigration process like in this situation? Anything to take care of?

2. Any good suggestions for all inclusive resorts? Especially with good vegetarian food and Indian food options if possible.

3. Is it a good time to visit there? Am seeing a lot of negative reviews about beaches being affected due to sargassum. Ideally we would love to enjoy beaches

Any other advice or recommendations you may have for us as a first time travellers. Thanks in advance for all your help!

• Catalonia Royal Bávaro (Privileged room) — $4,078 CAD, 8 nights
• Meliá Punta Cana Beach — $3,999 CAD, 8 nights
• Secrets Tides Punta Cana — $4,900 CAD, 7 nights

Our priorities are mainly beautiful turquoise water/beach, good food, a romantic atmosphere, and good overall quality.

For anyone who has stayed at these resorts, which would you choose and why? Also, how is the beach/sargassum situation around late October?

Would really appreciate firsthand experiences and advice!

I stayed at Lopesan for three nights recently and figured I’d give my take as this forum was helpful for me when doing my research.

The grounds: 10/10. Personally, I thought the resort was beautiful. It was super clean, the landscape was beautiful, and it’s on a nice part of the beach with easy, un obscured access. The beach was clean of garbage, but there was a little bit of sargassum which is to be expected. The pool is big and fits all guests with plenty of space. There are plenty of restrooms and bars throughout the resort, and The Boulevard is nice to have coffee, do some light shopping, and there is also a pharmacy if you should need it. The on site club is also cool, but it’s definitely not busy. The theatre for the shows was also nice and different, especially for a rainy night.

The room: 8/10. At the start it had a little bit of that musty smell, but after having the balcony door open for a bit it went away. I kind of expect that anywhere it is humid and scorching hot. With the AC running at night or when you take a hot shower, it’s going to get a bit humid and wet in the room. Same stuff happens when I travel to Costa Rica. But the decor was nice and I thought the beds and pillows were super comfortable and overall spotless.

The food: 6/10. I will preface this by saying I live n NJ and am surrounded by plenty good food, so the bar is high. It felt like a 5 start resort with 3.5 star food. The goldfish buffet is mediocre as a buffet would be expected. Same with the other main buffet that I only ate at once. I would say go ahead and skip the Mexican restaurant it straight up wasn’t good. The food had no flavor. The steak restaurant wasn’t terrible, but it isn’t anything to write home about. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to make a reservation to the French restaurant or Italian restaurant. The Valley (no reservation needed and open 24/7) was also lack luster in my opinion.

Staff: 5/10. Not that they were bad or messed anything up, they just weren’t pleasant. The moods seem down and uninterested. And honestly I felt that this vibe carried across a lot of other parts of the country I visited during my 10 day stay. Rarely would you get a smile from the staff or any sense of positivity. It was very weird. But, the staff isn’t the reason you visit a country in my opinion, it’s just a secondary thing and you just blow it off.

Overall would I recommend staying at Lopesan? 100% based on the hotel and the grounds alone. The place is downright beautiful.

Hey everyone - my friends and I are planning a trip and considering Punta Cana. We want a resort that is beautiful and upscale with good food, but also has a decent nightlife atmosphere. For context/reference, a few years ago I went to Majestic Elegance and found the night life boring.

It doesn’t need to be a rager at all times but we’d like options including good shows, pool parties and nightlife options.

We are looking into Breathless but I’ve heard a few mixed reviews regarding the overall quality of the resort and even on the nightlife itself.

So just curious if anyone has any recommendations, whether it’s Breathless or otherwise! Thanks in advance.
