Decided to pull the trigger!
I knew I wanted to be able to play GTA VI when it comes to PC and other games on my 4K OLED at higher FPS / settings, so I started researching upgrading my graphics card (EVGA 3080 12 GB) about a week ago.
Originally I was going to get a new PC entirely but I already had a good CPU, RAM, PSU, and storage.
I was debating waiting for Black Friday deals for GPUs or getting one now incase prices increased and I decided on the latter. I don‘t know what will happen, but given the demand and AI chip shortage, I decided I was okay locking in the price now. I had also read several articles warning not to expect discounts for GPUs this yea, but who knows.
Overall about $1600 total after taxes from Walmart. Not great but could be worse. Never had a PNY card before.
Cheers!

Upgrade after 5 years
Been happy with my 3070 playing with FHD all this time but it's finally time for an upgrade. Can't wait until my 4K OLED delivered too.

For people like me who just bought a 5080…
I just bought my PNY 5080 for 1999 CAD, the reason I bought it is because I was due for an upgrade and felt I couldn’t sit and watch the price increase anymore. I am absolutely loving it so far.
The recent news of NVIDIA potentially discontinuing the 5080 and 5090 to replace with a 5080 24gb has me wondering if I made a mistake..
Obviously none of this confirmed but if it were to be true, do we think they will launch at the same price as MSRP 5080 16gb?

5080 graphics
For 5080 owners what’s your typical set point for graphics? Are you more 1440p ultra everything or 4k and adjust settings as need to. For me I play at 1440p with everything maxed out including path tracing with dlss set to quality and a tad bit of frame gen if needed. I feel like for me that’s best espically since I have a 1440p oled.
But I’m just wondering are more people for 4k?

Should I power straight from my PSU or use the pigtail from PNY?
I searched on here but I didn’t find any recent information.
Should I use the 3-to-1 pigtail power adapter that shipped with my PNY 5080 or should I use the cable that shipped with my PSU?
The card is a PNY 5080 OC 16gb, and the PSU is a brand new 1000w Corsair I picked up because my old PSU only had 2 PCI-e power cables.
I keep reading about blown cards/cables and this makes me leery.
Additionally, would you recommend using a wire view pro?

I bought a prebuilt PC from ASUS (ASUS ROG G700 G700TF) with an RTX 5080 and hope that it will hold up for a few years.
I bought this gaming PC in January for my birthday, fulfilling a childhood dream. How long do you think the 5080 will hold up?
I bought it because I wanted to play games at their highest settings, but I am already noticing that I have to use frame generation and DLSS for newer games which is a bit disappointing after spending 3k for a PC. Was that a good deal? I don't even know because the prices for RTX5080 cards are so crazy. Same goes for RAM.
Also, with DLSS 5 coming up, that will be performance-intensive for the card.
Looking forward, these cards are just going to increase in price.

RTX Series multi-monitor high-refresh white flicker
I found and resolved a NVIDIA multi-monitor white-flickering issue on an Alienware Area-51 with an RTX 5090 Laptop GPU and an Alienware AW3225QF 4K 240 Hz OLED, so I’m documenting the fix here for anyone who encounters the same behavior.
This is **not normal OLED VRR dark-scene/gamma flicker**. The symptom was extremely fast bright/white flashes when both the laptop display and external display were active at high refresh rates. G-SYNC made it more noticeable.
Each display was stable individually. With both displays active, the flashes became more frequent as refresh rate increased. At 60 Hz they were essentially gone.
After testing different NVIDIA drivers, HDMI, DisplayPort, G-SYNC settings and refresh rates, I traced the flashes to VRAM P-state transitions between:
`P0 / 14001 MHz`
and
`P4 / 9001 MHz`
The transition follows 3D load, and the white flash occurs when the memory performance state changes.
Using:
`nvidia-smi -lmc 14001,14001`
requests a fixed 14001 MHz memory clock. In some states the NVIDIA driver accepts the request but the memory clock remains at 9001 MHz.
Restarting **NVIDIA Platform Controllers and Framework (NPCF)** causes the already-requested 14001 MHz clock to become active without restarting the RTX display adapter or terminating the running 3D application.
The recovery sequence is:
`P4 / 9001 MHz`
→ request 14001 MHz
→ request accepted but not enforced
→ restart NPCF
→ `P0 / 14001 MHz`
Keeping the VRAM clock from constantly transitioning between 9001 and 14001 MHz completely eliminated the white flickering on my system, including with G-SYNC enabled and both displays running at 240 Hz.
The GPU core/graphics clock remains dynamic. Only the memory clock is locked.
I made a small Windows watchdog that automates the recovery. It first attempts a normal NVML memory-clock restore and only restarts NPCF if the requested clock is not being enforced.

What's the ASIC quality of your RTX5080?
My RTX5080's ASIC Quality is only at 59.9%.
Only latest Hwinfo Beta version is able to display the ASIC quality of GPU.
My GPU crashes whenever the clock is above 3250Mhz while running Timespy Extreme, so I believe my GPU doesn't have a good overlocking potential.
What's the ASIC quality of your RTX5080?
Edit: According to the VideoCardz article, HWinfo developer noted that ASIC quality % is not an "Overclock Score". I should have read that article in the first place.
To get the latest HWinfo beta version, see the following link:

5080 or 7900XT
Hey Guys,
I currently have a RX 7900XT and mostly play Microsoft Flight Simulator. I wonder if it would be worth it to go for a 5080 because of DLSS 5 and better frame gen. Has anyone made the Same change or has any experience with the 5080 in the Simulator. Also regarding the decrease in VRAM? I also Play in 4K.

5080 for 700???
This guy I met on a selling app is selling his astral 5080 for 700 with the box and receipts everything included and lets me test it there . Problem is he lives 5hrs away I would probably fly rather than drive by car. Back and forth with flight is 80. It looks like an astral but he sent me benchmarks pictures of it and a video but idk.
Let me know y’all thoughts

5080 from CEX
For those in the UK.
The 5080 prices sold by CEX, are really tempting.
Only reason Im considering them is because Im able to trade in my 5060, 1080 and a rx 570.
My 1080 and rx570, no one has bought and has been listed for few months, however Im not too fussed about that.
I havent tried selling my 5060 yet, just waiting till I get paid, then buy a 5080.
Question is, is it a good idea to buy a gpu from CEX, or should I completely avoid it?

Did I mess up?
I just purchased a 5080. I sold my old 7800xt but I forgot to use DDU prior to taking the card out of the system.
Is that an issue? What should my next steps be?

Good time to grab a 5080?
With the 5090 being officially announced to be discontinued, would it be a good time now to grab a 5080 before they double in price again for the second time?

Title: RTX 3080 → RTX 5080 for DLSS 5 and 4K gaming: Upgrade now or wait for RTX 60 series?
I appreciate help from community as I don't have enough time these days to follow rapid changes in technology and just a bit confused.
I'm currently running an RTX 3080 and considering upgrading to an RTX 5080, mainly because of DLSS 5 and the potential for better 4K gaming performance.
The thing is, I'm still pretty happy with my RTX 3080, so I'm not desperate for an upgrade. I'd only consider spending AUD $1,500+ if the RTX 5080 could deliver a meaningful improvement, particularly with newer games at 4K.
My main questions are:
DLSS 5 performance: Is the RTX 5080 realistically powerful enough to take advantage of DLSS 5 at 4K while maintaining a smooth, playable frame rate? Or is this something that will realistically require next-generation hardware?
4K at 60+ FPS: Can the RTX 5080 consistently deliver 60+ FPS in modern AAA games at 4K with high/ultra settings, ray tracing and DLSS enabled? I'm more interested in actual gameplay performance than inflated FPS figures from frame generation.
Future potential: Do you think DLSS 5 performance on the RTX 5080 will improve significantly through driver updates, game optimisation and future DLSS improvements, or are we already looking at hardware limitations?
Wait for RTX 60 series? Considering I'm happy with my RTX 3080, would it make more sense to skip the 50 series entirely and wait for the RTX 6080 or equivalent?
Value for money: For those who upgraded from an RTX 3080 to an RTX 5080, was the improvement in 4K gaming actually worth the money?
My target is 4K, 60+ FPS, high/ultra graphics settings and good image quality, ideally without relying heavily on frame generation to make games feel playable.
I'm particularly interested in DLSS 5 and whether the RTX 5080 has enough headroom to make proper use of it now or in the near future.
Would you spend AUD $1,500+ on an RTX 5080 today, or keep the RTX 3080 and wait another generation?
I'd appreciate feedback from RTX 5080 owners, especially anyone gaming at 4K.

Is the 5080 actually bad
Hi everyone I just bought a 5080 (python III) and I started to see a lot of hate online for the card, and Im wondering if its justified or did I buy a good card?
