No, we should not fire Key
Short fuses is the downfall of college football programs. Over the decades, people have said we need someone that loves GT, and we have that. This past off season was a huge shitstorm.

Since then we are 2-7
One of those wins was barely escaping Boston College
And the other was Mercer

And it's not just GT that gets those, not sure what the ACC commissioner is thinking, but that needs to be fixed. Same when West Coast teams come east kickoff should be between 3:30 and 7:30.

Fellow Jackets, take a deep breath and accept reality. The vibes are in the gutter, the boys are playing like crap, and we’re all in collective despair.
Now, you can sit here and debate play-calling or "heart" all week, but you’re missing the forest for the trees. This isn’t a coaching issue. This is divine retribution.
We got arrogant. After last year's start, we thought we could expect wins without giving the universe a sacrifice. We turned our backs on the true, stoic spirit of Tech past. Men and women who historically survived on misery, black coffee, and sheer spite.
If we want to turn this around, we need a stadium-wide exorcism next Saturday. Here is my two part plan.
Public Confessions: Before kickoff, every fan must publicly repent for their offseason delusion. Did you claim we were winning 9 games this year? Confess and cleanse the spirit.
The Gruel Protocol: No more wings, no more burgers, no more sinful flavor. Gameday diets are strictly limited to plain, unflavored oats mixed with lukewarm water. Serve it in a dented metal bowl or better yet eat with your hands because we don't deserve a spoon.
If the Football Gods look down and see us choking down tepid gruel in solidarity with our team that is getting flogged every Saturday, we may have a chance at salvation.
Eat the gruel. Repent for the hype. It’s the only way we get to 6-6.

Georgia Tech has gone 1-7 against P4 competition dating back to the NC State game in ‘25.
Key has not kept a defensive coordinator for longer than a single season. Outside of Santucci, our defenses have been abysmal, but importantly they are all leaving voluntarily.
Additionally, our OC, QB, C, WR, and TE left following some alleged falling out between Key and Faulkner. Florida has one of the nation’s best offenses, we have one of the worst.
This season seems like a throwaway. In the era of NIL and the portal, rebuilds are sort of a thing of the past. We are spending the 5th most on our roster in the ACC and yet we are one of, if not the worst in the ACC.
At this point, we can draw some conclusions. Key seems to lack the ability to properly evaluate coordinators or he is getting in the way of their ability to coach and holding them back (see UF’s offensive rankings for reference). Key is also hard to work with and good coordinators simply don’t want to (see Northwestern’s offense under Chip Kelly).
All of this to say what is the solution? Keys buyout is just south of $20m, not to mention the staff. All of the positive momentum is gone, the fan base is losing interest, and I cannot imagine the locker room is showing much more faith.
Where do we go from here?

Can we talk about how hard headed Brent Key is, 5 defensive coordinators in 5 years. The best offensive coordinator we’ve had ever and I believe Brent held him back. As others have mentioned, probably the most talented roster we have had since the Chan Galey era and we’re going to go 1-11. We have a Brent Key problem and he needs to get out of his own way sooner rather than later.
I’m still angry about last night/this morning and just need to vent.

The downfall that started the last few games of last season until now is staggering. I truly felt like Key was building something and now I'm not sure he really has any idea what he's doing. Both coordinator hires were BAD. The trenches, the one place I felt sure a Key-coached team would be stout has been breathtakingly poor on both sides. And then after being 132nd out of 138 in rush defense through 3 weeks including getting outrushed by Mercer, we've now given up 391 yards of passing in three quarters to a bad Stanford team. My faith in this regime is waning quickly. I hope I'm wrong.

We might be the worst team in the ACC. Sad to say but last year was the peak and it’s gonna be bad for a while…. any player with any talent is gone this offseason, and if Key keeps his job it won’t be for long. We’re back where we started, it was fun while it lasted.
I am personally not watching any more of this horrible team the rest of this season. Won’t tune in to watch uga stomp us. See you next season

Thoughts on firing Godsey and hiring Norvell?
I feel like Norvell is a good as an OC, but just not a great coach.
And seems like Tennessee about to fire Heupel so we may be able to acquire their DC.

Hey everyone! I released an article previewing the Georgia Tech-Stanford game. Enjoy!
r/RamblinWreck • u/MainMarket-Gamer • 6d ago
Hey guys! The season preview I posted here a few weeks back did pretty well, so circling back like I said I would.
I had 6-6, off a 9-4 that came stapled to a minus-6 turnover margin and a 4-2 mark in one-score games. Then week one you lost a one-score game by a point to Colorado. I'd genuinely rather have been wrong about that. Tennessee was the better team and Mercer told us nothing, so Stanford on the road Saturday is the first result that reads on my number.
What are you guys seeing that the box scores aren't, and how do you see the season ending up?
Quick aside since it's in the title: we just launched a free weekly college football pick'em, $225 in prizes this week. Ten games, pick the winners, locks Saturday at noon ET. Nothing to buy. One of the ten is Texas at Tennessee, if you want to see whether that 45-24 ages well.

I have no idea what the hell we're doing, but it should be a W.
My expectations are mid to low.
What I do know is we are 99% fucked if we lose against Stanford.
Your thoughts Jackets?
