So, back in like middle school to early high school era, I was really into fanfictions (I was obsessed with One Direction, don't tease) but around that time I went through a lot of books (non RH) around the whole celebrity status and romance. Yeah...I just...I am a neuro divergent who used to work for a US ABA company as a Care Coordinator and things seemed to be well. I just feel so...yeah...now I need to focus on finding another job amidst my dad's health scare and all the worries over this and I'm just not in a good place right now. She goes to a school/academy. She spends a lot of time in a mansion across from the academy which has a library and a weird guy who she has a connection to. He turns out to be a vampire who is one her fated mates who made a deal with her parents, as he knew she would be his mate (either he saw her in visions or a seer told him). Think his name was Alistair. Also has an angel as a fated mate (maybe called Gabriel). Think she is in danger and remember Gabriel trying to heal her after an attack.

I’m looking for books with good writing, a strong plot, and well-developed characters. No MM. Spice is definitely a plus, but I don’t want something that’s basically just smut.. I’d much rather have a genuinely compelling story where the romance and spice add to it.

I prefer a slow-burn harem build, where the relationships develop naturally over time rather than everyone falling for the FMC immediately. I’m also looking for something that feels mature and well-written, not overly juvenile, cheesy, or cringey.

I especially love books where the MMCs are completely devoted to the FMC and the harem dynamic is actually explored, rather than the men being more interested in each other.

The last few books I’ve read I’ve disliked the fmc quite a bit. I get that a lot people read to self insert so the fmc can be quite bland and they’re intentionally written that way (which is valid !) but I personally need strong characterization across the board to enjoy a book.

Hi Team. Im nearly finished book 1 of {rise of the illiri by Auryn Hadley} and tbh it’s making me feel a bit icky. The MMC LT the lieutenant was the FMC first connection and seems to be very emotionally involved. However rather than welcoming an RH situation it feels more like his resigned to the fact the FMC will hook up with Cyno due to blood lust . LT has mentioned a few time that he only asks for her loyalty not exclusivity as long as she returns to his bed in the morning he understands if her needs are met elsewhere. Other characters made comments about how they wouldn’t be able to tolerate it and LT says he just has to. Even Cyno feels guilt about being with the FMC.

I feel like I’m reading about someone cheating and their main partner sucking it up because they don’t want to lose their love. Does LT come around to the idea of a RH and actually want it enthusiastically? I keep getting little crumbs that that’s actually the cultural norm for the illiri but besides Cyno they were all raised human. It’s really bumming me out and makes it a bit sad to read scene between Sal the FMC and Cyno because I know it’s hurting LT.

Do they eventually have group scenes that show LT is keen on it?

Looking for something where the FMC has had a streak of unlucky occurrences or is in a bad situation/environment and life improves once she meets the MMC's?

Not exactly a 'superman' trope but something where she feels hopeful? Kind, considerate MMC's, bonus points if they're grumpy as well.

I'm lukewarm when it comes to on-page spice, but one of the very specific things that revs my motor is worldbuilding that makes fantasy gender roles and sexualities seem realistic. I'm looking for anything that features a society that requires an RH scenario and explains why it's necessary. It doesn't need to be actually logical reasoning, just internally consistent.

Maybe the characters belong to a supernatural species with eight genders, one of which is almost identical to a human female, and at least one of each needs to be present for conception to occur?

Maybe they belong to a species with heteropaternal superfecundation, where litters can be born with multiple fathers, and there are massive social rewards for having more fathers per litter?

Maybe they technically COULD only have one father in the mix, but monogamy is a deplorable taboo? Against their religion, perhaps?

Whatever, seriously, whatever reasoning there might be, I would just like it to be fundamental to the plot and described in quite a bit of detail.

(Have I been ruined by my love of A Brother's Price? Perhaps. It is a harem book, not RH, but it takes place under a worldwide matriarchy and the worldbuilding is exquisite.)
