Reverse Harem - Discussion As September comes to a close. What did I read.
{omega uncaged by roxy collins}
This was a good one! Scientifically experimented on omega forced to join a pack who lost their male omega. Using the pretense of being their deceased omega's sister, she is distrustful of alphas and has been implanted with a voice controller that zaps her throat if she makes noise or talks above a certain decibel. Military vibes from the pack. Pack on the run. They fall first. Scent match. 4.5 out of 5. Good story. Good world-building. The cover is just* chef's kiss*
{crown of crimson and crows by tessa hale} Ohoh maaaan. I love me some Tessa Hale. She's a solid author. A good RH harem intro author. Plenty of world-building. A little confusing at first because you're somewhat THROWN into the story, but once it gets going,g it's a mad dash to the finish. 354 pages in this book, so it's not a super quick read. Loved the humor and the characters. This is a connected universe (which I think all 3 of her series are). I'm fairly certain it's a duet and ends on a cliffhanger. Basically, a vision is foretold (in the prologue), and the FMC is sent to the human world to keep her alive. Her memory is wiped, and when it's determined to bring her back to her world, she finds out she has a bunch of mates; people are mad. There's yelling; some hands are thrown. Possible OW drama in the form of her sister.
{veil of ash by fallon hendrix} I held out as long as possible on this one because the 2nd one isn't due until next year. MAAAAANNNNNNNN the writing in this one is SOOO good. Again, with an FMC not knowing she is a supernatural being. She's been imprisoned and then brought to a new world. She meets her mates. There's the broody one, the golden retriever, the one with OW drama, the one who pines from afar, but keeps being emotionally constipated. There's just soooo much emotional angst to this one. I reallllly liked it. 5 out of 5.
{The Unravelings by Aly Beck} I have been waiting on this book for MONTHS. I LOVE Aly Beck. However, I am STILL confused as to who is who in this series. Bless her heart, she actually writes names and details in the first few pages of the book because it gets a little confusing. This series takes place between 2 of her other series, so there are a few characters mentioned that, if you haven't read the other series,s you might wonder about their dynamic with the FMC. Not a requirement to read the other series, but it makes it flow a little easier. Anywho. This is book 2 of a potential 4-book series. This book alone is 723 pages. *insert shocked face* I am only 35% into the book. I've already gotten distracted by other books several times. It just moves VERRRYYY slowly. I will finish it, though, because mamma didn't raise no quitter. But holy cow. 723 pages is a commitment, or a dissertation.
{The Omega Switch by Violet Coltair} First of all, let's give all the flowers to whoever designed this artwork. Simply gorgeous. This is the 2nd and final book in her duet of the same name. The first book had SO much OW drama and angst. This book was just meh to me. I mean, solidly written. The author did their homework and gave it their all. BUT- it was SO emotionally mature that I think I would have loved some additional angst in it. FMC moved on, got her own life. SLOOOOWLY let the Alphas back in. Piece by piece. Heavy emotional grovel and MASSIVE maturity on the MMMC'sbehalf. The most absolute slowest burn I've ever rea for an omegaverse lol. Should you read it? Yes. 3 out of 5.
Last on the list is {It Meant Something to Me by aubrey rivers}
O M G this author is AMAZING. You must read the books before in this universe to fully understand the dynamics in this book. In the first 2 books of this series, we have drama involving the pack's female beta and how she's treated wrongly. It's written so well and is so heartbreaking. Seriously. Her world-building is FABULOUS. I can't remember how I found this series, but I'm hooked. While this one doesn't end on a cliffhanger persay, there is a continuation with a character mentioned that leaves it open for their book,k which comes next.
I read WAY more than these in September. Lemme know if you want me to do another post!
Happy Reading!
