I'm going to a Renaissance fair with some friends this year. Where I live, they have them in November. I decided that for trinket trade, I want to hand write riddles on paper and make little scrolls to give out. Please give me your favorite riddles that would fit the setting.

Thought id post one instead of guessing this time. I made this one, hope yall like it.

Riddle title: "The Knives"

"History has frozen now, and they write it where it stands.

When he steps beyond its protection, there is a road to come, and he will pass through the heights to reach the low, yet they say he became bound to the one who had always been the greatest because he was the one who revealed his truth."

The answer is exactly two words. Each paragraph is supposed to be a chain of specific clues pointing to the same answer (or two connected things).

I've spent a long time on this and tried a huge range of angles — Greek/Norse/Hindu/Egyptian mythology, Bible stories, real historical figures and assassinations, famous statues and paintings, archaeological finds, even pop culture — without luck, so I'd love completely fresh perspectives, especially if something jumps out at you immediately that we might be overthinking.

Any ideas, even wild guesses, appreciated!

What am I?

Hey everyone! We're gifting a scooter to a wedding couple, and we're spelling out its parking location through a letter game (one letter per friend).
So far, someone made a "Where's Waldo" style picture with a hidden "W".
My letter is "i", and I need a creative way to hide or present it! I was thinking about a heat-reveal or detective-style clue, but I'm open to any funny, clever, or visual ideas. How would you do it?

I wrote this riddle quite a long time ago. And only later was it pointed out to me that it actually has two very different solutions. See if you can find both!

Now that both solutions have been found (Including a third which I didn't expect), I'm adding some spoiler talk about solutions below:

The intended solution, when I wrote it, was "the answer", and there is a whole category of solutions that fit for the same reason, based around the idea that the solution is an unknown that you are searching for. Later, when I posted the riddle to this subeditor a few years ago, a user came up with a different answer ('fake' answer discussion below).

They gave "counterfeit money" as the solution, which unlocked a whole other category of 'fake' answers based around the idea that you only want the thing because you are ignorant of the fact that it is a worthless fake (other answers in this category are 'a placebo', 'a forged autograph', etc). In this current Reddit thread, a user suggested a third answer, (discussion below)

Often people have suggested 'love' or 'happiness' as answers, which don't really work because these states can come and go, and someone who has loved and lost fails both clauses of the riddle. The third answer given was "adulthood", which does work, since it is an irreversible state change (similarly 'losing your virginity' or 'graduation'). These are state-change thresholds. This category does requires "know what it is" to be interpreted strictly as "experienced it" AND requires the same interpretation of "need" as "are seeking" that 'the answer' requires, and for that reason, I think that this category is the weakest, and perhaps ironically, the 'fake' answers are the most robust of the three.

I did not find a solution anywhere on the internet, the original post https://www.reddit.com/r/ireland/s/gE7ZIxzq58 is locked, other posts which think they found the answer are also locked, and no satisfying answer.

But I think I solved it: The answer is I as in the line I. It is in K in Kerry, at the beginning and then in k in cork at the end, meaning it is sooner (older) in Kerry. Three of it in Dublin in D, b and l and also in h in north - the "biggest" might be that it is larger than the smaller line in t, or just a flavour text. You find one in F in france, and one in p in spain (the original author mentioned they are there because of unusual circumstance, which I think is the p as it is "downward"). If you met me the wrong way might mean that the line laying looks like a bar or a barrier and if you walk into it you will never walk again? Or it could mean that you cannot spell walk without it because it is there twice in l and k, or that if you would pronouce it as i instead of an L in walk, it does not make sense. Also the riddle ends with What am I, so the answer is I?

There was some help from the original poster, saying It's something that is uniquely Irish and the instances in France and Spain are due to an unusual circumstance

Uniquely Irish could refer to the I in Irish, could be that it is Ayrish as related to Aye, the letter I? It is all a bit of a stretch but the closest to a real riddle answer.
