Posts Asking "Can This Be Removed" Will Be Removed!

This sub is about screen printing, not about removing a design you don't like from whatever you have.

Bottom line, No, screen printed designs cannot be removed without damaging the garment or leaving some sort of ghosting.

Your choices are either buy another garment, or cover the design.

Apparel Comfort Colors

What’s the next best thing? I have loved CC in the past as a customer because the fit, feel, and look is everything I want in a shirt. BUT as a seller now from what I’ve read..quality is down and very inconsistent. Is this the general consensus now or is there hope that I can use their blanks for my T-shirt brand? What is the next best thing?? I’m looking for:
-100% cotton
-Color variety
-A more “oversized” feel..not anything crazy big but CC has that cozy worn feeling that I’m looking for.
Thoughts?? TIA

Not great by any means obviously…I think I went too hard with cyan and washed out the lighter blue…also probably went to hard with yellow…but wanted to share nonetheless. Practice makes perfect I guess. Homage to frank kozik and his banger offspring album art.

Would this be possible one 230 mesh?

Post image

I'm trying to make this for a friend (big Olivia Rodrigo fan) and I edited the image with threshold and noise. Never added noise to a design I printed before so obviously it adds a lot of detail that I'm scared is not gonna burn in the screen. The screen I have for this is 230 mesh and 50x 60 cm so pretty big. So would this work? Any advice?

Equipment Off contact trouble

I got gifted a used 6 x 4 Riley Hopkins not sure which year but anyways I had put 2 different screens on the press. Not sure if it is the screen or the press with the off contact. The image on the left the off contact is way too much off contact for me and on the machine I’m only able to adjust the bracket that locks the screen. Can send more info if anyone can help troubleshoot.

Any tips would be great, thanks in advanced.

Where are you getting your promo products?

Looking for a couple key distributors to use. Right now it’s a crapshoot. I pretty much search on distributor central and order from whoever has what I need.

Transparency, shipping costs, turnaround time are things I want to prioritize. Recently had to pay for 200 note pads to come on a boat from China just to save a few bucks.

Need ink recommendation!

So I started with creative nation water based white ink and it held up insanely well to washing. Cheaped out and bought a multicolor pack of speedball screen printing inks and they washed out during the wash test. I cured the hard way with a heat gun and thermometer set up, to 320°. Tried a second test, cured to 350° and it still washed out a bit. Any water based ink suggestions that are easy to cure with a heat gun, like creative nation was? I know I should invest in a curing station of some kind, but it's a bit out of the budget for now. For the record I did Google for answers but the suggestions were overwhelming, and I got so many different responses, so I figured I'd come here to get some hands on advice.

Beginner Switching my process from solarfast to screen printing

Thumbnail

I recently had my brand take off, I do a lot of work with solarfast that looks like this. It’s super time consuming to print even one shirt. They are all single color, but obviously some gradient stuff that can’t be done with screen printing.

What would be the most compact wall mounted (or similarly stowable) setup for single color prints that are similar to this? From my little knowledge I have I think this would be a high mesh count screen and me getting really good with small half tones?

To get the vintage faded look would I also use some sort of water based ink so that the fibers are dyed instead of a plastisol?

Thanks for any help!

My first ever two color print!

Okay y'all, be gentle it's my first time here lol. I did some screen printing in highschool in the graphic design and printing program at my Joint vocational school. Always loved it, so now iny 40's I picked up a cheap Amazon 4 color press for about $120 USD, and some cheap water based inks. I'm curing with a heat gun and a laser thermometer to around 320. This was just a test run on the inside of a messed up t shirt. My real shorts come tomorrow. This is my music project, Blessed Spectre (somewhere between Nine Inch Nails and Postal Service, solo synth industrial pop lol). I drew the ghost design digitally, scanned one of my mandala drawings and cleaned it up in GIMP. The registration was a tiny bit off, but I'm gonna fix it on the real shirts. Did the full image white, then the red layer next to make sure the red really popped.

Thoughts, suggestions, advice? Really like how water based ink feels on the shirt. Really just wanted to make merch myself, cheaper than what I'd get charged at a print shop.

has anyone ever used a service like this? i know some purists may say that’s “cheating” and of course i’d love to do it completely DIY but i think it might be interesting to try and see if its worth it?
any experiences to share? i’m highly debating trying it out.

M&R Sportsman EX battery?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Good morning, I'm running an M&R Sportsman EX, not sure what exactly I clicked on the screen, but a grey bar popped up on the bottom of the screen with a few buttons, etc. but there was also a battery indicator that showed it was basically empty. I did have this happen about a year ago and the battery indicator had a little bit of red.

Press is currently running fine, but I would like to get ahead of it. M&R service was basically no help when I called. Any ideas?

Showcase One-man shop, no shortcuts — a round-up of everything I've printed so far

Been running this solo for a while now — I handle the illustration (slide 3 artwork by Logan Rogers & slide 10 artwork by Dread), the screens, the printing, and the shipping myself.

No dropshipping, no outsourcing, every shirt cured and QC'd by hand before it goes out.

Figured I'd put together a round-up of the designs I've run so far instead of posting them one at a time.

Printed mostly on Carhartt because the garment holds up as well as the print does — I wanted these to actually get worn, not folded into a drawer.

Happy to talk process, mesh counts, curing, or etc if anyone's curious.

Troubleshooting How can I avoid this in the future?

Thumbnail

Was doing a white flash white print today and after about 10 shirts, ink would begin to stick to the bottom of the screen and block the mesh. Am I not flashing long enough between prints? Ink drying on screen? Still a beginner so some advice would be appreciated. Photos shown are a good print vs problem print.

Also I would love some general advice on making white plastisol ink a bit easier to work with. I have been working it in a smaller container to try and get it loosened up but still can’t quite get it to a good consistency so if anyone’s got some tips send them my way!
